I agree. But at the same time I look forward to it because it's the one chance I have besides giving flowers, in reaching out to neighbors and coworkers and friends that are very far. I also love that there is one part of the year that it's okay to talk about Christian things without retaliation. I can even give someone at work that's Jewish or Muslim a Christmas card and it's accepted as a kind act.

Yesterday I gave someone who is a supervisor over a crew a Christmas card and said to him I know you're Jewish but she'll accept this. He opened the card and it said let it snow. He said no oOoOO, it was a humorous attempt since we are all on call for snow plowing. There are fun things that bring everyone together with some humor like the white elephant gift exchange too. I know these get away from the birth of Christ, but I think that there is still something good about all these things and I can't think of any other time of year that we get an excuse to do these things.
This is a good point! It's definitely a great time to display kindness and generosity!

On my mind: today's to do list. I called days like these by Tasmanian devil speed cleaning and getting things ready days.
- quiet time.
-cup of coffee
-laundry and hand washing clothes.
-sorting and packing away fall and summer and spring clothes
-clean all the floors, sinks and bathroom
-place settings for tomorrow's Christmas dinner
-iced tea for tomorrow
-relish tray
-set up the nativity
-gather ingredients and recipes for cookie baking
-give the amaryllis that has already been blooming to my neighbor, I didn't expect it to start blooming a week ago and I've been so busy.
-get leftover containers ready for tomorrow
-buy buns & cauliflower for tomorrow's dinner, I forgot.
-20 minute run and strength training workout
-nap.
-last Christmas card for a neighbor I forgot.
-sign up for $4.99 deal for a month with an online dating app. Deadline is approaching.

Edit:

Why go through the trouble. I have a very simple tactic. Just ask someone to marry you straight up. It saves a lot of time, money and hassle.

True! Sometimes I think the same. I had taken more than a week off online dating.. it is kind of an emotional roller coaster. Crazy all the guys in some places that immediately like my profile, but later on they disappear like ghost when they see what my profile says. The name of Jesus scares a lot of guys. :D

I've just had much better luck with online dating than I have in my local area. I've also been able to experience lifestyles I've never been exposed to in my current circles, that doesn't mean that won't change in the future. Online dating has been kind of like a reforming of my mind and how I interact with others. It's definitely opened up doors in friendships in ways that I hadn't experienced before. Positive growth. Online dating is not for everyone, as I have seen with friends. Unfortunate to have a gift of discernment, but at the same time that doesn't mean that I have attractions I shouldn't.

Yeah I've gone back and forth on online dating. I think it can be a great thing if utilized correctly.

Working 12 hour days 6 days a week all month. December usually very busy for us but this year is the worst I've seen it. Government passed some laws in our industry plus we're making some vendor changes in addition to all the other December busy time.

How do you folks who do that regularly (if not more hours then that) switch your brain to Rest Mode in the evening? My brain has been 'go go go' all week now I want it to rest right now, just watch some DVDs & relax. Only plus is I was able to wrap all my Christmas presents in one sitting.

You must be so exhausted. I don't know how you do it.

Right now it's the opposite. My brain is pumping.

Most of the year it's soooooooo slow but we're paying for it right now.

I have no idea how people do it more than a month or so. (I know construction work, factory work, & higher up office jobs than mine can really rack up the overtime)

I hate how people complain about the movie Anastasia b/c 'it's not historically accurate.' That's the whole dumb point! This movie's a 'what if the lost princess Anastasia wasn't lost.'

Grr

I love this movie although I admit it slows down once they get to Paris.

What made me think of this is I occasionally hear 'Once Upon A December' from the movie played on Christmas music stations.

I was just listening to 'Journey to the Past' now. Dang, that last note :0

Why do people always make a big deal of David cutting of Goliath's head as if that's really graphic & violent? I mean, David already killed him w/ the slingshot stone. It's not like cutting off Goliath's head makes him more dead.

Eesh. Looks like you are getting a taste of what I do, but turned up to 11.

Even at my worst overtime periods in all of my years doing 12-hour rotating shifts in a lab (about 8 in all, I think), I don't think it ever got nearly bad as 6 out of every 7 days for a month straight. O_O

Especially the steel mills. Many people that work jobs like that, unfortunately retire and don't make it much more in life after.

I've heard about them. Like, sometimes they'll stay at the mill for 48 hours straight, where they can sleep and all in a designated safe space at times during that period, and it will count as work hours, but they will still be on call at a moment's notice if a problem comes up they can help with or something. I imagine the wages must pay well for a schedule like that, to where you've easily made a doctor's salary by the end of the year due to how frequently you are at work, but still. Wouldn't be worth it to me.
