Wow. There was a beautiful young lady at the store today, apparently friends with my one boss. She came up to the counter and made eye contact with me, and we just stared into each other’s eyes for several seconds. Then, I dimly realized that my boss was asking me something. And after a few seconds, I was able to respond. But wow.

If the enemy wanted to destroy me, he could just send me a beautiful woman to whisper sweet nothings in my ear while slowly pulling me away from God.

Oh, wait. He’s already done that. But I managed to escape before I was completely doomed.

Fun Fact: Wes Craven, the creator of the Nightmare on Elm Street franchise, named Freddy Krueger after a childhood bully who terrorized him.

I don't know if that's passive aggressive as heck or an absolute brilliant way of getting revenge on an old tormentor. I can imagine that guy is still getting jokes about his name after all these years.

Dang, lol.. overrated movie but that's an interesting fact.

Freddy Krueger's appearance was also inspired by a disfigured homeless guy Wes Craven saw and a scary looking man with Freddy's physical features who scared the crap out of him as a child.

As for the concept of dying in dreams, Wes Craven read all these news stories of survivors of the Khmer Rouge regime who reported having severe nightmares before dying in their sleep from unknown causes.

This combination of experiences and inspiration formed the basis to one of the most iconic horror villains of all time. Makes me wonder if human creativity truly has a limit or if we're just simply playing it safe now.

Do you like the Hellraiser films (at least the first two).. unlike Nightmare on Elm Street they didn't contain corny lines (at least until the later films.. lol). Clive Barker has a pretty demented and scary imagination, lol.

I have not seen them but I heard for their time they were pretty shocking. I heard that Pinhead was supposed to make a cameo in Freddy VS Jason where he breaks up the fight and asks, "What seems to be the problem, boys?" That idea got scrapped.

Yeah, the violence was probably extreme for it's time. Still, I think the psychological themes still hold up today. Funny though, Clive Barker claims to be a Christian. Even if some might find some of his work a little blasphemous.
