From what I've heard, It was the other way around. the 90's was perfect for being a child while the 80's was perfect for being a teen.

The 80s being a perfect time for being a teenager? Why? The 90s had cooler music, and less embarrassing fashion.

Rock and Roll, people had fun with their hair, Movies and TV, youth culture... It was a Gen Xer's paradise and would probably be more appreciated by the older crowd.

Whenever I think of an 80s teenager I think of Pee Wee Herman.

What about the Breakfast Club, Back to the Future, Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure, and Ferris Beuller's Day Off?

I mean, Ferris Beuller was a caricature of the Gen X Slacker stereotype at the time.

They don't have much of an edge. When I think of Gen Xer I think of Grunge and the film Reality Bites and the Columbine Kidz.

Grunge is late Gen Xer indeed, don't know about Reality Bytes, and the Columbine kids were both born in 1981 and so by most definitions would be early Millennials.

Even though I wasn't born during this time period, I think is many ways I'm like this. I got along better with Gen Xer's than I did with most Millennials, I was raised old school by my Gen X mother, and I have a lot of interest in the 20th century history and culture, especially the latter half of it.

I don't view people born in the early 80s as millennials.

I'm defiantly a millennial in my behavior and conduct.

The 90s had cooler music,

I'll grant you "cooler", but the 80s gave us this:

As a side note, the literal verson is a work of genius.

Growing up I thought 80s music sounded cool.. then I realized just how cheesy it all is. Imagine some people got beaten up in school because they wore the wrong ridiculous 80s clothes. Being a "cool" kid then was being the right kind of looking dork. Lol.
