And thank you for your prayers. Shortly after I made that post we ... ehm ... had a painful bout where nausea came to its inevitable fruition, so to speak. Thankfully the Lord is to be praised for granting my prayers that the pain of nausea would not last long before it got purged away. I feel weak, but much better. And rushed off to the store before it could close to get the usual consumables to help with general sickness. My immediate family via text were gracious to help with prayers and suggestions for healing ... and rehydration, as you can imagine. I seriously think I lost at least a quart of fluids - if not half a gallon - in the last two hours.

I find having 3 days off (I do occasionally have to work a Saturday- it's only once month) really helps me push through the days I'm working. I know it's only 4 days and then I'm off again for a few days. It brings a bit more balance to my life. I mean, I still hate and dread Mondays, haha. That would always be the case though. I do really think it's important if you are single to force yourself to take days off and focus on enjoyable things/hobbies, etc. Enjoy your weekends. I think sometimes single people can end up becoming workaholics because they don't have a family to spend time with. It's actually almost expected in some workplaces that the single employees will work more shifts or cover weekends. I'm really against that mentality and I think it's harmful. Even from a spiritual perspective it is not ideal. We need time to read Scripture, pray, meditate and focus on spiritual things. If we are working constantly and always exhausted from work it is much harder to clear our minds to pray/meditate.Yes, I think flexible hours like that would be really beneficial.
My employer used to have flex time where you could work extra on like Monday so you don't have to work Friday, but they went away with that (too much fighting over it). I think I could like that too. But maybe it'd be even harder coming back on Monday than what it is.......
I'm glad I don't live in the far north. It's supposed to be -54ºC wind chill in Yellowknife overnight. That is way too cold.

I've never experienced that, but it probably depends on the nature of the job. That's less likely to happen in a 9-5 office environment than one where there's things like shift work, a lot of overtime, or a need to be staffed at weekends/public holidays.I think it's interesting what you said about people expecting more of single employees. If people had this expectation of me I was not aware of it.
