Thank you. This was someone from one of those Facebook groups I mentioned in my post. Not someone I ever really messaged a lot, but it's sad for sure.

What happened with this?. I remember you asking for prayer before I left too. And do you go on any travels in 2023?

This may have to do with the decline in popularity of Internet forums. Things like TikTok and Discord didn't exist ten years ago, but now I think younger people will tend to gravitate towards those rather than a place like CF, and the Singles forum in particular relies on young people in order to sustain it as they're obviously the ones most likely to be single.

Unfortunately still in the same spot. With the lab manager now demoted and no longer able to dictate these things, I should try asking again to go to the other lab section.

And no, no faraway adventures for this knight last year, I'm afraid. ^-^

Am I thinking of the same person? TX_Matt was actually transgendered and identified as a woman. IIRC.

I find message boards the go-to for community. Other forms of social media are nice, & I use them as well, but you can’t really build a reputation or community in them. It's mostly just speaking into a void & hoping someone hears. Message boards you can have discussions & conversations

Earlier this year it occurred to me if this section wasn’t as negative as any other secular site, it might attract more people.

I'm just not much of a jokester either. I like productive conversation. That probably turns people off from posting here.

Oh, right. Well, at the time I met him he was a guy. Must have been at least seven years ago, actually.

I love the singles section. It’s a great community.

I think so, too. I mean, it's why I have been here for 9.5 years now.

I grew up NIV & think it's still a great translation, but I've noticed problems in it as I've been exposed to other translations. For example the pocket NIV I have, in the introduction to Revelation, it says some things I disagree with. (it was written to encourage the Christians at the time they'll get thru Nero)

I've never used the NIV and had a small pocket book New Testament (and psalms + proverbs) that was KJV. I prefer the NAB or New Jerusalem Bible.

When I first became a Christian, the NIV was my go-to. I was told by somebody else and NIV (early 90s)is one of the best for starters. Later I was told KJV was the best for witness, since even no trinitarians use it.

Later I went onto believe/heard NASB the most literal and I bought one at a Kay Arthur conference at Moody Bible (2006). I have used that one for years but later in 2009 I started speaking with a reformed guy that went onto become a missionary in Thailand who believes ESV one of the best. I have parallel bible since then to compare. I've heard sermons with the amplified that hammered home scripture in modern day words. After studying under a Jewish Rabbi in 2010, I bought a tanak. Unfortunately my in-depth Bible studies seemed to die down after 2011. Possibly since I'm not around the influence of scholarly people as I was in the past. And I have more house responsibilities .I miss it though. Only one person in 2020 that was into apologetics, but I was not ready for the in depth study at that time.
