I was reading one reason people wanted Prohibition was people would show up to work drunk or hungover & get injured doing factory work.

Usually you’ll see people wanted it b/c they ‘didn’t believe in drinking & wanted to take it away from other people to match what they believed’ but as usual it’s easy for people to just give their opinion of what happened in the past vs what actually happened.

This is was just one article (that was written back then), so not saying it was a main motivator, just that it was a factor back then.

So I adopted a new cat, but he doesn't like being picked up. When I brought him home he walked into the carrier on his own so I didn't notice this until I got home.

I thought maybe he was just a little wiggly, but he scratched my face today. This was while using the textbook safe and secure method for picking up a cat. I didn't try anything fancy like holding him like a baby or anything more advanced. This is a deal-breaker. Hopefully, he'll waltz into the carrier of his own volition so I can return him... but I'm guessing he won't.

Although I'd rather not compare him to my old cat, my old cat never scratched my face. He's otherwise affectionate, follows me around, purrs a lot, and uses the litter box like he should. In some ways he's a good cat, but apparently not right for me.

Oh no! Don't get rid of him! Give him some time if you're not warming up to him yet. I'm sure w/ some more time he'll stop scratchign your face & you'll learn to appreciate him for who he is!

I'm still looking for a cat that's a good fit for my home. Unfortunately, the last one I met had to go back because he was too feral. Maybe alright for somebody else, but he was a stray before the rescue took him in and it showed. My old cat set a high bar with his sweet and gentle temperament. Possibly from being held a lot as a kitten. Hopefully, I will eventually find one with a similarly pleasant disposition. For now I'm taking a break. There's no need to rush things.

I don't have the nerve to make a YouTube channel. People are so mean on the Internet. I know I would get made fun of because of my weight and appearance. Society expects women to be thin, beautiful, and sexy.

I was bullied in school. I was never good enough for the guys. It was always something - not pretty enough, not smart enough, I didn't party, I didn't put out.

And then in my adult years I find out men that identified as Republicans thought that any woman that had the liberal look (fat, dyed hair, etc) was deemed ugly. So I believed that I would be perceived and judged as an ugly, fat liberal even though I was a Republican at the time.

Being in the middle of five nights in a row at the present and soon to be cramming in 36 hours of overtime into a two-week period, I can attest that that just ain't right to do that to a human being.
