I've been online since about 1995 or so and a lot of people on the internet back then were acting almost like they were drunk or on drugs due to being anonymous. I don't think that the average person was online as it wasn't that popular at the time but rather I believe the people that were not socially "normal" in their functioning. People who had problems some of which were serious were on back then and nothing has changed sadly as instead of people getting online with problems people are now getting online and it is causing them to have problems by the nature of the internet and the people on it with........ problems causing problems.Jeez, the internet irks my whole soul sometimes!
The only format that was not region locked is 4K Blu-Ray. For now the best physical media player for the buck is a Blu-Ray player as they can play CDs and DVDs also and 4K players are a lot more expensive and by the time you do get a decent collection of 4K discs the price of those players should come down. Blu-Ray players tend to be higher quality in the picture output as they have improved upscalers and converters. I will however still recommend those who have a large DVD collection and watch series/seasons a lot to consider Sony's DVD changers as they make for a lot less hassle switching between discs and all of the ones I've ever had remember the stop position of the last 6 discs in the player. They last changer they made supports 1080p upscaling but I don't think the 1080i of the earlier models looks any different on today's TV sets and the 1080i players are a lot more common. The only drawback to the changers is they take up a lot of space and without the right remote you can't switch discs remotely as universal remotes typically don't map a button for that function.I bought a DVD only to find it was region-locked. I read Blu-Ray players don't have region-locked, so finally bought a Blu-Ray player!
But it still didn't play the DVD!!!
I ended up watching another DVD I had on it, & the picture's nice, better than on my old DVD player, not gonna lie!
So I'm moving up in the world: I'm getting streaming platforms in a month & now have a Blu-Ray player!
I think that online vs in person social presence differs considerably as online some folks have different personalities than in person. I am a little more outgoing online and perhaps more talkative but that is because for the most part people in person may be looking for different conversation and topics vs online and are perhaps more reserved as to what they say also. If you go to dating sites the nerds only get favor if they are rich and the attractive bad boys and girls get the most attention. I've been a nerd all of my life and I find few people want to hang around with me at all and nothing has changed over the decades except that I'm more picky about friends as some folks who are nerdy and not very sociable have issues that make them that way that also make them hard to deal with.I know a lot of people say nerd culture is acceptable now, but I really don’t see it that way. I think that’s just Mainstream people trying to pretend everything’s okay now.
I don't think it will ever die.... look at vinyl and even cassette tapes now they are making a comeback but I am unsure if the cassette tape thing will truly last as it is most useful for portable music and few have portable cassette players these days but most have a smart device and streaming. I think the major consideration for physical media is movies and series that will likely always cost to stream or are less popular and will likely never stream at all or media that never got a decent quality region 1 release. I've seen a few movies that I cannot find on physical media in a decent quality format but can stream it in a better quality format for free. Older titles that were mastered before widescreen (anamorphic) tvs were common and Full screen (4:3 or 1.33:1) tvs were the market that have not been rereleased in a better format can now and then find a decent 720p widescreen streaming version online for free (commercials). I've picked up several library movies second hand stores that were hard to find and added it to my collection so you could find media that they have in their collection that hasn't been sold since the 90s and out of print also perhaps.I hope physical media doesn't die. I like it gives you more options. Paramount things you can only get on Paramount+, Disney things you can only get on Disney+, etc. A physical media player can play it all. I go to the library & borrow things for no charge other than what I pay in taxes.
I forgot to say that certain DVD players can be hacked to all region but you may have to buy a certain remote and go through a process to make them all region. They also make region free blu-ray players but they aren't from the manufacturer and cost a lot more not worth it for a few discs but for someone that has a lot of other region movies like 2 or 4 here in the US it can be a wanted item.I bought a DVD only to find it was region-locked. I read Blu-Ray players don't have region-locked, so finally bought a Blu-Ray player!

Apparently when you reach 40, your body just starts breaking down. Or maybe it's just me
Nope.... it actually starts happening before 30 but isn't noticeable for most till around 40 and it keeps going and going unless both your living habits and genetics don't combat it well enough. Lots of stuff out there to mess you up.Apparently when you reach 40, your body just starts breaking down. Or maybe it's just me
I've always thought I had less stress than most. Certainly being single helps with thatI think one big key to body breakdown is stress as it encourages behavior that can be detrimental to your body in the long run.
Being single can add to stress especially when you live alone and have nobody immediately around to help you and have to resort to tech to communicate instead of face to face interaction.I've always thought I had less stress than most. Certainly being single helps with that
