I, an intruder from the other side of the 'pond', would like to ask y'all a question, if I may: According to my understanding the greatest minority in the States are the German-americans. Americans have more German "blood" or ancestry than any other single country in the world. After the Germans come the Irish then the others...etc. Now my question is this: how come y'all have Indian-blood, Irish-blood, English-blood, Welsh, Italian, Asian... etc...etc, but none of you, not even one has got German ancestry? Is that just an amazing coincidence?;) Where are the supposedly 60-70 million or-so Americans with various percentage of German "blood"? Do they live in deep underground caves or what? Hardy hear anything abou them. Just an obsevation...

My family thinks that we are part German, but its hard to tell. (We come from a province on the border of France and Germany called Poniche de Lorraine and it has changed hands many times through the course of history.) That's on my father's side. On my mother's side, I am part English and Choctaw. Chickapee tribe. My 3 time great grandmother was a Choctaw princess.

I am only 7% Native American, according to my DNA. My family has always rumored at Indian ancestry, but the DNA test was my first real proof.

I am almost certainly Five Nations, or Iroquois.

Beyond that, I don't know for sure. The Native blood comes from two lines: The one is from eastern Ontario, where my ancestor settled after being a spy for the British during the Revolution. Many Mohawks served as well, and they also settled nearby after the war. When my ancestors' brothers were trying to establish their homestead, they were all overtaken by malaria. The local Indians not only nursed them back to health, but brought in the crops for them. From that time onward, the home was always open to visiting Indians, and my ancestor apparently married one of them.

On the other line, my ancestor had the last name of a famous interpreter. That interpreter had been captured at Forty Fort in the Wyoming Valley of Pennsylvania during the Revolution, and was adopted by a Lene Lenape family. They later sold him to a Mohawk chief, John Hill, who adopted him and took him with him to all the big councils. At the end of the war, the interpreter was released in Oneida County, NY and made his way back to his white relatives. If that man were indeed my ancestor, he must have had a child while still in the tribe -- and not necessarily Mohawk, as the tribes were moving together because of the war. (Actually, the Five Nations intermarried, and tribal & clan membership was matrilineal). My ancestor was adopted by a white man a generation later, and married the daughter of a Quaker.

Well, I'm not a full-blooded native American, but who really is in this day and age? I'm part Cherokee. I don't look it though. I'm pretty Irish/Scot/English in appearance. Guess the other part of my bloodline was too dominant.

My Great Great (I think it was two "greats" or maybe one...) Grandmother Adele Reed (English last name, I think it was given to her) hid out in a hollow log when the soldiers came to clear out her village when they were gathering everyone up to start the trek to OK. A few days after she came out of hiding was when she met my Great Great Grandpa Samuel Collins. Therein arises the Irish bloodline in me.
Hi! I noticed your "Time Lord" stuff, I used to watch the really older version of "Dr. Who" with the guy who had curlyish brown hair, seriously long scarf, and the blond haired girl on it. I can't recall his name right off the bat, but I watched all of those old "Dr. Who" episodes. Do you know 'who' (pardon the pun) that guy is? chikahote

Hi Jerry, my brother-in-law is Japanese, and I have several friends in Japan. I visited Hawaii back in 1993 and loved it! I enjoy meeting Christians from other places and making new friends. I have a wonderful dog named Indy. Do you have any pets? chikahote

Nah, no pets right now. I want a dog, but are youngest is a wee bit too small to get one right now. Maybe I'll get one later, who knows. What part of Japan is your brother-in-law from? My wife is from Okinawa.

I have just really been getting interested in my genealogy. On my Dad's side my Great Great Grandmother Marth was 100% Cherokee from NC and her picture is hanging up at my Grandmothers house. On my Mom's side my Great Great Grandmother was 100% Cherokee as well., but she could have been half I have heard it both ways. Anyway I don't know what that would make me, anybody good at math? I need to find out if they are on the rolls but I need to find out their full names and their parents too. I am going to the reservation in Cherokee, NC next week and am really looking forward to it! I dated a guy who's Grandfather was 100% and lived on a res, we always planned to visit him there but never did now I wish we had. As for me my coloring comes from the Irish in me but my sister and all of my guy cousins are dark with coal black eyes. It's funny how me and my sister look a lot alike our coloring is just different!
