Do Pacific Islander Americans count? If so, I'm Chamorro (native of Guam) on my father's side and haole (literally--foreigner, colloquially--white) on my mom's. If PacIslanders don't count, then I'm still Chamorro on my father's side and haole on my mom's. I'm what they call "mestizo".

To answer my own question, if I were native Hawaiian, then I'd be recognized as Native American. Chamorros (indigenous to Guam) don't qualify, but I'm sure that's being worked on by somebody.

This is a neat thread. I'm 1/8 Cherokee. The story goes that my family hid during the Trail of Tears and stayed in NC. We're having trouble connecting the marriage of my Cherokee great-great-grandmother to my white great-great-grandfather. Anyone know how if register as Cherokee?

This is a really cool thread. I'm 1/32 Choctaw. I know its not much, but I'm proud of that anyway. My Great Great Grandmother was a Choctaw princess of the Chickapee tribe (she was 1/2 white) and unfortunately, I do not know her name. But we have this great little story about the day she died, which also happened to be the same day my mother was born. They were both in the same hospital, and my grandmother carried my mother up to her where she counted her fingers and toes and said, "Take care of my little pappuese" and gave her a pair of tiny moccasins that she had made. Later that night, she died. Isn't that a sweet story?

Choctaw, but you would never know it by looking at my very pale skin. My great great grandmother was Choctaw. My family has done nothing to learn about their ancestry. I am interested, though, but I am not going to get any information from my family. I am also Welsh and French (which probably accounts for the pale skin, huh?).

Wow! Another Choctaw! That's awesome! Same generation as me it sounds like.
