well, we went to NC but didn't get to Cherokee after all. We are going back in Nov. though. My husband is going to grad school close to there so I will get there soon and if we move to that area we would only be about 12 miles from Cherokee. Man I love the mountains there. western coarolina and the smokies are just amazing. We went to Chimney Rock. Wow, that's all I can say. I can't wait to spend more time there just exploring the area. That whole area of NC is just full of lakes and waterfalls. I live right off the blue ridge parkway myself and we are in a valley but the mountains there are just so much bigger there. I don't know if you have heard of the Brown Mountain Lights, but I want to catch that too. You can read about it online. I am getting off subject, sorry. I really need to find all the info I can on my relatives first and I think that's going to take some time.

I, an intruder from the other side of the 'pond', would like to ask y'all a question, if I may: According to my understanding the greatest minority in the States are the German-americans. Americans have more German "blood" or ancestry than any other single country in the world. After the Germans come the Irish then the others...etc. Now my question is this: how come y'all have Indian-blood, Irish-blood, English-blood, Welsh, Italian, Asian... etc...etc, but none of you, not even one has got German ancestry? Is that just an amazing coincidence?;) Where are the supposedly 60-70 million or-so Americans with various percentage of German "blood"? Do they live in deep underground caves or what? Hardy hear anything abou them. Just an obsevation...

Okay, here is my ancestry:

Mother's side: Cherokee, Irish, Scottish, Danish

Father's side: Cherokee, British, German, Irish(I think)

My paternal great great grandmother was full-blood Cheyenne, and there is some Cherokee somewhere on my maternal side but I haven't been able to pin it down.
Makes me mostly Anglo, tho.
I am currently working as a Bible Study teacher at three churches in the Navajo Nation.

my mothers blood line runs from the pappa indians who ended up in southamerica she was born in santa fey.
Is Pappa and Papago the same tribe?

If it is, I can tell you the Papago tribe is a descendant of a larger tribe called the Hohokam. The Papago are also known as the Tohono O’Odham which means “Desert People” because they were originally located in the desert regions of the northern Sonora and Arizona. Many are currently located in three reservations in southern Arizona, Gila Bend, and several are located in villages in northwestern Sonora.

  • According to the 2001 Argentine census, there were 4,300 Tehuelche in the provinces of Chubut and Santa Cruz and a further 1,637 in other parts of Argentina.

My grandfather told me that we were part Mohawk. He never gave details and didn't seem to want to let that bit of information out, so I am assuming it is true. He was quite a bit German. I also have Scots, Irish, English and a few others. But I am mostly German/Irish. I don't know how I'd ever verify the Native American heritage.
