Following the Lord's commands is righteous. And in doing so - reduces the amount of sin which occurs in our lives. Are either of you saying these aren't righteous things?

We love "all" of our fellow man, and rightfully condemn the darkness that is with them, that is also that is with us all, that is NOT US.

That is how God's Love overcomes in us and is perfected IN us.

We shine as His Children "in the midst" of that darkness...

Even in this small way...we partake...here and now. And that is His Gift from Above into our hearts.

I agree, but aren't these actions something we do of our own accord? If so then aren't we are each responsible for minimizing the amount of active sin in our lives.

The "more" we try to love, EVIL present with us makes itself known. We are not the same as IT.

No, they are works or self-righteousness; some how be going to church or what ever righteous act you profess; is a filthy rags. The self-righteousness of (religious, political systems of man) from out of Babylon that spreads to everyone and eventually destroys all of the self-righteous nature of our flesh (the first Adam). From out of the fire will emerge the righteous one who is Christ in us (the last Adam).

God appointed and ordained the Babylonians to judge and punish. (Hab 1:12) O LORD, are you not from everlasting? My God, my Holy One, we will not die. O LORD, you have appointed them to execute judgment; O Rock, you have ordained them to punish.

The Babylonians are self-righteous. (Hab 1:7) They are a feared and dreaded people; they are a law to themselves and promote their own honor.

And their self-righteousness will spread to all. (Hab 2:16) You will be filled with shame instead of glory. Now it is your turn! Drink and be exposed! The cup from the LORD's right hand is coming around to you, and disgrace will cover your glory.

Jeremiah 51:7 Babylon was a gold cup in the LORD's hand; she made the whole earth drunk. The nations drank her wine; therefore they have now gone mad.

satan can not do absolutely anything contrary to the will of God. Yes he can do miracles and deceive people. Yaveh's elect will not be deceived by satan (that is they will not stay in deception). We are all born in sin and deception.

There is absolutely nothing out of Gods control, ever.

Deuteronomy 6:25 - It will be righteousness for us if we are careful to observe all this commandment before the LORD our God, just as He commanded us.

James 2: 24 - A man is called righteous by the things he does, not just by his faith.


Romans 6:12-14 - As the result, don’t allow sin to rule your mortal bodies and don’t obey its desires. Nor should you offer your body parts as unrighteous weapons of sin.

Because God is righteous Himself, He has placed commandments at our feet. If we believe and follow those commandments, we are righteous. Those who ignore His instruction are unrighteous. I'm not sure why you make it an issue of salvation.

And if you can not follow ALL His commands are you then considered unrighteous?

The point is nobody can obey ALL His commands or be perfect, except through the cross.

We all sin every day, not one single human being on the face of the planet earth is exempt from sinning every day. If you think you can then you are blinded and should ask the Father to search you, so that you can truly see that you are a wretch like me.

This sinless perfection stuff is baloney and leads to self righteousness which is pride (not humble)

Several people were declared righteous by God as a result of their deeds; even before the Savior made his brutal sacrifice. Are you suggesting that following God's commands leads to sin?

Yes, the commandments which come from God are righteous, and ultimately attributed to Him; but we are declared righteous in the Lord's eyes when we pursue His wisdom, follow his commandments and seek Him out in everything we do.

Ezekiel 18:9 - if he (a man) walks in My statutes and My ordinances so as to deal faithfully-- he is righteous and will surely live," declares the Lord GOD.

And just to balance things out, let's remember:

Ecclesiastes 7:20 - Indeed, there is not a righteous man on earth who continually does good and who never sins.

Ecclesiastes 7:16 - Do not be excessively righteous and do not be overly wise. Why should you ruin yourself?
