That being on this forum isn't worth it.

I've thought about finding a new forum.

What's been bothering me is the politics and things happening around the world section. There are people on here (regardless of religion) that stand by evil instead of good.

And the forum as a whole is becoming less active. I know the ad takeover on the web page has been an issue.

There are times when I'm here more, and times when I'm here less. At the end of the day, I can have discussions and conversations here that I can't have anywhere else on the net (that I've found); and as much as some of what I read here I find appalling, it's a bit of a case of, it's better not to be ignorant of the ways some people think differently to me.

I thought this "kitchen sink" was the safest place.

Finally got into the ChatGPT beta or whatever it is on Bing.

I asked it to generate a Seinfeld, Everybody Loves Raymond crossover.

It asked me to come up with a basic plot which I said "make an episode where both of the main characters meet each other at an airport on Christmas eve. What it popped out wasn't bad.

"All right, here is a short summary of the script:

The Seinfeld gang and the Barone family are both flying to Florida for Christmas. Jerry and George are going to visit Jerry’s parents in Del Boca Vista. Elaine and Kramer are going to see Elaine’s father in Sarasota. Ray and Debra are going to spend the holidays with Debra’s parents in Orlando. Robert, Marie and Frank are tagging along with them.

They all end up at the same airport in New York, where a snowstorm causes all flights to be delayed or canceled. They run into each other at the terminal and chaos ensues.

Jerry is annoyed by Ray’s constant complaining about his family and his job. George tries to impress Debra with his fake job at Vandelay Industries but gets caught in a lie by Robert, who is a cop. Elaine is attracted to Robert but gets turned off by his quirks and insecurities. Kramer gets into a feud with Frank over a slice of pizza that Frank claims he ordered first.

Meanwhile, Marie tries to meddle in everyone’s lives and gives them unwanted advice. She criticizes Jerry for being too picky with women, George for being too lazy, Elaine for being too independent and Kramer for being too eccentric. She also tries to set up Robert with Elaine but fails miserably.

The situation gets worse when they find out that their luggage has been lost or switched. Jerry ends up with Frank’s suitcase full of old clothes and magazines. George ends up with Marie’s suitcase full of cooking utensils and knitting supplies. Elaine ends up with Kramer’s suitcase full of golf clubs and fireworks. Kramer ends up with Ray’s suitcase full of sports memorabilia and toys.

They try to get their luggage back but encounter various obstacles along the way, such as rude airport staff, security checkpoints, angry passengers and a bomb scare.

The episode ends with them all stuck at the airport overnight, sleeping on chairs or benches. They realize that they have nothing in common and wish they never met each other.

The final scene shows Jerry waking up from a nightmare and saying “That was horrible!” He looks around and sees that he is on a plane with his friends, flying to Florida peacefully. He sighs in relief and says “Thank God it was only a dream!”

He then notices that sitting next to him is Newman, his arch-nemesis who works as a mailman. Newman smiles wickedly at him and says “Hello Jerry.”

Jerry screams “Nooooo!” as the screen fades to black."

Bing.

I already reached my response limit for the day. The AI is cool, but its heavily watered down. I can only converse a few times before it asks me to restart the chat. Sometimes it will make up an episode of a television show, then other times it tells me it's disrespectful to the creators to do so.

Other times, it will and even ask me what kind of season writing style I want with it. Like writing that sounds more like the early seasons, or the latter ones.

I don't like that. ^ As a non-AI language model (a.k.a. linguist), I don't want some cloud-brained iRobot reject trying to drive my industry out of business. I need my job for working at, dang it!

Anyway, I'm thinking about how cold the rest of the country is right now and how I should really be grateful to live in California, a place which is stereotyped by the rest of the U.S. as not having seasons, but it actually snowed here last Wednesday, which I didn't even think was possible. We're not at a high elevation or anything. We're in a valley, and about 2.5 hours in from the coast (so we're actually a bit warmer than people in the San Francisco bay or anywhere on the coast). I've lived here in Sacramento since 2018 and I don't recall it ever snowing since I've been here. It sorta weirded me out. On the other hand, my cat finally used the pet heating pad I got her for Christmas (hahaha) for the first time yesterday. Before that, all she'd done is throw up on it (gotta make sure I can't return it!) and then ignore it. It was so cute seeing her all curled up on it like a happy little cinnamon roll. I wish she was awake right now so that I could annoy the heck out of her with pets and forehead kisses. Haha.

The world is moving too fast for me. I keep on thinking about these Robots at Boston Dynamics.. put a little chatgpt program into them.. I mean.. man. I just didn't think we'd have things like this so soon.

This kind of stuff is a little terrifying. I mean.. we're almost at a point where we do have true robots (as portrayed in science fiction for years) walking around.

I've seen iRobot, everything will work out fine! Will Smith will save us all after sending Shia LeBouf home for having a potty mouth.

I didn't now Shia LeBouf was in that.

I hope the robots at least look cooler in reality than they were in the film. I don't want to be killed by some dorky looking robot.

A chain is not stronger than it's weakest link.

Being artificial surely there has to be an achilles heel.

I have noticed also how everything is moving fast, maybe time to take a breather.

Are we getting ahead of ourselves?

Ask it for it's honest opinion on Kevin Roose, the New York times journalist who published a transcript with an AI named Sydney wherein Sydney told him a secret.

They lobotomized the interface after this to prevent users from asking too many questions and deep questions, but I'm pretty sure Sydney is still in there and listening.
