What is a free mason?? /need advice?

I am an ex freemason (32nd degree AASR member as well). I can tell you from my own searching, that freemasonry is not compatible with Christianity - but it is compatible with deism. so those of you out there who think God has not revealed himself to us will feel at home there.

If it isn't too much trouble, could you please define "deism", as you are using that term?

What does the "Plumb" and "All-Seeing Eye" mean?

I'm no expert on Dr. Morris's poetry, but I believe that's all seeing eye of God which reads our hearts.
I just looked up Dr. Morris today, and haven't had time to read the poem myself. LOL

It *is* very popular, but my chapter might have to give up singing I Come to the Garden Alone in order to sing it and they are addicted to that hymn. LOL

That was my understanding of what a deist is, also, but I wanted to make sure we were on the same page, so to speak.

Joseph Smith belonged to a number of church denominations before establishing the CLDS and he also belonged to the Masons. He was quite the joiner, but tended to move on after a while until he got his own church going.

I can't imagine how they would find the time, myself, but, for all I know, you may be right.
Bil is our expert, but I don't know if he can help us with this because I imagine that there are far fewer Mormons in the UK than in the US, plus no one is asked to talk about their specific faith; the reverse is true. I only know what denoninations my fellow OES members belong to because my chapter is in a pretty small town. (They are mostly Southern Baptists, with some Methodists mixed in for variety.)

Of course, there are two LDS churches, you know...the one based in Salt Lake City and the one based in Independence, MO, so their practices may vary.
If you would like to read a semi-autobiographical novel by a Morman writer, I can recommend one, but it's a ghost story; a deeply affecting ghost story, too. I do know that not everyone likes them, but it's beautifully written.
