The Poems of William Cowper...ya know the fella who wrote, "There is a Fountain Filled with Blood."

I have a question maybe you folks can help me with. His name is Cowper...is it said Cow (like the animal) per or Cooper?

I've heard it both ways.

Thanks.

I read about him in Wikipedia a few days ago. He wrote hymns and poetry. He also struggled with bouts of insanity. I looked him up because GK Chesterton mentioned in his book Orthodoxy.

yes , I have been in his old house , it's now a museum , you may be interested to know his back garden backed onto John Newton's (amazing grace) back garden , they were best of friends and both confirmed Calvinists . Their homes are in Olney village some 6 or 7 miles from me on the Bedford road , which is where John Bunyan lived !

John Gill lived in Kettering , about 12 miles from here , John Wycliffe lived at Lutterworth , about 25 miles from here , and James Hervey lived about 2 Miles from here in the village next to mine , I could do a bus tour when ye all come over :)

your welcome Kenith , bring a notebook and camera

also two other Puritans were nearby preachers ; John Preston preached at Nether Heyford (6 miles away) died at a friend's house at Preston-Capes, Northamptonshire, on Sunday, 20 July 1628

and Robert Bolton was preacher at Broughton near Kettering ....

Our most famous Northampton preacher was hymn writer and Bible expositor Philip Doddridge , photos of his old Church

not forgetting William Carey who pastored a local Baptist Church a few miles up the road , he remains the biggest name ; Baptist Missionary and founder of the BMS ... a truly amazing man

God Bless

I have finished C.S. Lewis' Space Trilogy by way of audiobook on my iPod. I have also finished reading G.K. Chesterton's Orthodoxy.

I am still reading (and will be for a long time) Summa Contra Gentiles, by Thomas Aquinas and I have started reading The Two Reformations:The Journey from the Last Days to the New World, by Heiko Oberman. I have read one other book by Oberman, The Dawn of the Reformation: Essays in Late Medieval and Early Reformation Thought and I was impressed with his scholarship.

In the audiobook world, I am now listening to the seven book Keys to the Kingdom Series by Garth Nix. I have finished the first two books (Mister Monday and Grim Tuesday) and will be starting Drowned Wednesday soon.

My daughter told me that I needed to read more fiction. I did not want to let fiction take away from my reading, so she loaded my iPod full of audiobooks. I've been enjoying them.

Just began reading "What is Reformed Theology?: Understanding the Basics" by R.C. Sproul.

That book is a great introduction. Many books introducing Reformed Theology don't cover the covenantal aspect, but that one does in the second part of the book.

That's the first book on Reformed Theology I read and it's a good one.
