  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

What exactly is the law?

the true Word is that which comes direct from the true God and Jesus, while the biblical scripture is their written word which is recorded in special terms/names completely plain only to certain elected

Blessings
OK seems the written Scripture has been thrown out as valid. What now?

I have answered this point many times only to be dismissed. I do not think you would hear a restatement. So what should I do?

Naw it is easier to just make another statement. Have no fear it is the same one I have been making all along. This is easily and most comprehensive in 32 For God hath concluded them all in unbelief, that he might have mercy upon all. Rom 11

So how does the law enter in? Does it cause unbelief-or disobedience, as some translations put it in verse 32?

Ah, I see Mr. Hansen has been paying attention to the law in relation to sin perhaps?

Maybe in Romans 7?

It is one of thee most rock solid principles in the WORLD as a present working DIVINE matter.

Paul has just a beautiful piece of inspiration there, direct from Jesus without any doubt. I would say Paul was a genius but I know where he derived his info and know he'd be the last guy to take credit for it. Being the chief of sinners and all.

rom 11;32, the shut up all, is the same shut up of gal 3;22-23, all were shut up in sin and law, see the connection?

see my siggy...

imprisoned in sin and law, as per some translations, the law was added to increase the sin, rom 5;20, not take it away, only the cross did that.

So if a believer sins, do they need to even pay it any mind, to recognize it, to acknowledge any kind of requirement or obligation not to sin? Or what about those believers, referred to in scripture, that persist in serious sin, placing themselves in danger of being cut off? What's their responsibility in the matter? No need to have a consciousness of the law because the Spirit will either lead them to repentance-or not; the Spirit, rather than the Law, should chafe their consciences? OTOH, is this even a realistic scenario? Can anyone really escape consciousness of the Law anyway, and the indictment it brings against sin?

This is one of the big, big problems we have in the church today. Some churches are lawless and sin has its way in the lives of believers. Yes I am a firm believer in grace through faith; salvation cannot be earned through works of the flesh. BUT the spirit of lawlessness is the spirit of antichrist not true Christianity. We desperately need to get that balance back into the church because the overemphasis on grace is so problematic to true discipleship.

The Apostle Paul did warn about trusting in the law and indeed we don’t trust in law we trust in Jesus Christ. However grace presented in such a “proof text” way is not sound hermeneutics or doctrine. It is in fact an undermining of biblical grace. The sinless Son of God was incarnate in the flesh and paid a terrible price for our sin. We need to honour that sacrifice in humility of faith and not make grace cheep.

Being aware/cognizant of the Law and the facts of it's workings is one matter.

Unfortunately it is most often mishandled as much as grace.

Most 'legalists' are aware they remain sinners while sitting in the pew on Saturday. Why they believe themselves less the sinner for doing so remains suspect. Why they pin 'sin sin' on other believers for not seeing law matters like they do also remains suspect.

There is nothing wrong with being legal. Fact is however that no one is legal from a scriptural technical standpoint.

There is nothing wrong with grace. But not everything about us is under grace.

There are exemptions.

Therein resides the Divine Tensions.
