Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

The Gentiles sure aren't the dogs in this Scripture:

Philippians 3 2 Watch out for those dogs, those evildoers, those mutilators of the flesh. 3 For it is we who are the circumcision, we who serve God by his Spirit, who boast in Christ Jesus, and who put no confidence in the flesh— 4 though I myself have reasons for such confidence.
If someone else thinks they have reasons to put confidence in the flesh, I have more: 5 circumcised on the eighth day, of the people of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, a Hebrew of Hebrews; in regard to the law, a Pharisee; 6 as for zeal, persecuting the church; as for righteousness based on the law, faultless.

I think it's best just to read and reread Philippians 3 and really understand its context. Suffice it to say, when Paul calls people dogs, he ain't referring to no Gentiles.

LUKE 16:20 "But there was a certain beggar named Lazarus, full of sores, who was laid at his gate,
21 desiring to be fed with the crumbs which fell from the rich man's table. Moreover the dogs came and licked his sores."
In contrast to the rich man, we now see Lazarus. The first thing to note is that he is depicted as a beggar. This is an apt description of the Gentiles who "laid at the gate" of Judah. Paul describes the predicament of the Gentiles before they accepted the Messiah in his letter to the Ephesians:

This Scripture is also a fitting representation of the position of the nations before the Messiah's sacrifice for the world's sins. They were certainly "excluded from the commonwealth of Israel," "strangers to the covenants of promise," and "without hope and without God in the world." The Gentiles were beggars, located outside Judah and longing to be fed spiritual crumbs from the table of the divinely blessed Jews.

Additionally, we are told that dogs came and consoled Lazarus in his misery, licking his sores. The Jews considered the surrounding Gentiles to be unclean "dogs." Even Yeshua himself used this unflattering comparison when he conversed with the Greek Syrophoenician woman while in the region of Tyre (Mark 7:24-30).
Also important to the story is the meaning of the name Lazarus. This Greek name is a form of the Hebrew Eleazer, and it literally means "he whom God helps."
The use of this particular name is very significant to the message of the parable, for the Gentiles would indeed become "those whom God helped" through the sacrifice of His son, Yeshua.

I think it was a way Jesus used to poke fun at the silly racist ideas that some Jewish people had regarding Samaritans. The fact that he is shown helping her leads me to think that might be the case.

it goes a little deeper than that, brother...it's about sin which is the root of all hatefulness. Jesus wasn't makin' fun as in ridiculing. He had a serious point He was making. THe kind that is an eternal one.

And here I was thinking Yeshua was cutting the fine line of getting to the point He wanted to make... make sense to disciples while inspiring hope into the downtrodden.
That hope is no longer based on the OC Law of Moses for Gentiles.

Lazarus and the Rich Man - Here a little, there a little - Commentary

Once again Abraham refuses the rich man's request, telling him that the brothers already have a witness in the writings of Moses and the prophets that will allow them to escape his fate.
Moses, as well as the prophets, are shown several times in the New Testament to support Yeshua's identity as the Messiah (Luke 24:27, 44; John 1:45; 5:46; Acts 3:22-24; 7:37; 26:22-23; 28:23).

Abraham tells the rich man that his brothers would have to recognize the prophesied Messiah because of the things written about him in the Tanakh. This echoes what Yeshua told the Jews in John's Gospel:
JOHN 5:45 "Do not think that I shall accuse you to the Father; there is one who accuses you — Moses, in whom you trust.
46 For if you believed Moses, you would believe me; for he wrote about me.

I would say Jesus was pretty serious when talking to the Pharisees and Scribes in Matthew 23 :) :angel:

The Word came to the Jews first, and then after that, to the gentiles.

thus, the Jews are those who have the supper, at supper time.
and the dogs are the ones that get the scraps afterwards.

yet the gospel came to abraham the gentile, gen 12:3, gal 3:8, and the jews gotta come in the way of the gentiles, Rom 9:30, plus this whole jew first thing got equalized real quick here..




rom 2:9 There will be tribulation and distress for every human being who does evil, the Jew first and also the Greek, 10 but glory and honor and peace for everyone who does good, the Jew first and also the Greek. 11 For God shows no partiality.


and here...

Rom 3:9 What then? Are we Jews any better off?.... No, not at all. For we have already charged that all, both Jews and Greeks, are under sin,
