Unfortunately, the way everything is done for us these days, it's easy to forget....forget responsibility. Because of all the tech advances and such, so that we don't have to remember to turn on and off our car lights, so we don't have to (in some cars) put on our seat belts ourselves, so we don't have to do many things on our own when we used to have to, and there was a feeling of responsibility. Further along we go in the modern world, the less we have to "do," because the computer does it for us, the less we remember how to do things, less responsibility, which, imo, leads to laziness, inattentiveness, and irresponsibility.

Personally I cannot wait for automated cars. Most accidents are caused by driver error so removing the human element is a good thing.

I suppose, but computers break down at times too. I can certainly wait for automated cars, and all the rest. I'm forgetful and scatterbrained enough without having more things to help me lose my mind. :p

Like we are not forgetful enough today... guh...many times I used to double check when mine was little... But putting this kid on the top of the car?

Bear in mind, a lot of people do stupid stuff even when they're sober.

And of course if the goal is to outlaw stupidity... why not outlaw alcohol?

Personally I think I'd be okay with the government requiring felons to be sterilized.

It seems people get the message about drinking, for the most part: they at least know that it's wrong, even if they do it anyway.

But that's just it, they do it anyway. You know how it is, "Naaaaaah, maaaan. I'm not that ... that.... drunk. I can still... drive....watch!"

I seen this plenty. Drunk people want peanuts, gas station is just down the road...so they pile in someone's car and it's okay, because they're just going to get peanuts and more beer.

Agree. Cars in general are hurtling death traps - we should have billboards saying "Attn: Motorists. Please don't maim or kill pedestrians or cyclists" in every city as a reminder of this - without these nimrods making terrible decisions. Still, the demonization of driving drunk has significantly reduced drunk driving, even if dummy like these still exist.

I talked about this with my husband a few minutes before I posted it too lol... We were both appalled by this... She got mad cause her boyfriend was taken in for possession so she goes and gets more high :( .... What an illogical way of looking at things and all...Marijuana can make you cause a car accident also I do not get it how she can run away with that one either... and if it is not the same a drunk driving it makes me think why it is not?

Well, I hope I'm not misspeaking, but here in Canada I believe it is considered driving under the influence. I thought it was the same in the USA. ...interesting.

It is the same as drunk driving - she got charged with a DUI. One thing that annoys me about marijuana users is that a lot of them think that driving high is okay (more than people who drink think driving drunk is okay - there are plenty of those, though).

Yes, I think so. I know this is why a fair few companies do drug testing now in Canada. Especially if the workers are in driving or dangerous professions. Such a shame... so much wasted life.

true, but machines are never smarter than the folks that programmed them. so I don't think one can program a vehicle to account for every problem that a human while driving could face.

that's awful

I don't think we need too many other things to make us anymore lazy. I'm slothful enough as it is. I would crumble if I were to be transported back to early 20th century, even, when women baked and cooked from scratch, washed clothes and dishes by hand, and sewed just about all their clothes. Let alone the other chores they needed to keep up with back then. I'd pass out by mid morning. ^_^

I don't believe in preventive law...period.

Drink and drive should be legal...but if u have wreck or hurt someone...go to jail
All drugs should be legal for 18+
No seat belts except for children under the age of 16.
