It's currently running on the international channel.. one episode per week, before dubbed Tenchi on Sundays... You can go away for six months and still know what's happening. I'm pretty sure they're finally on GT now.. haven't checked up to see what's happening with that series for quite a while. Incidentally, why would the international channel show a series dubbed in english? I was rather looking forward to hearing the original voice work in Tenchi. Oh well. *sighs* And I really miss Slayers.. I wish they'd air it again. *cries*Marth said:ah the joys of anime *goes and stabs a picture of dragonballz* reason i dont like dbz no mores is well (have i said this beforeif i have then you can instead of reading this post look at this little smiley...

MissFirerose said:Personally, I often get irritated when people try to justify their personal prejudices towards things by relating whatever it is they thing prejudiced thoughts about to something that has absolutely no similarities. It's grasping at straws.
What you consider an "abomination to God" does not in any way make your opinion any more relevant or important than what another person considers an "abomination to God".

It's ironic that whenever someone comes across another with a different opinion than them, they automatically assume they have no foreknowledge of the material. I don't care for your sarcastic tone. It's immature and a pale attempt at coming across at being superior.iter itineris said:Ummm, ever read the Bible? That is what a Christian basis their understanding of God on:![]()
In your opinion and your interpretation. If someone wanted to, they could use the Bible to justify just about any sort of loving relationship as sin. Just a little reminder, did you know that there are at least eight different forms of marriage mentioned in the Bible, two of which are polygamy and a rape victim marring her rapist. Can't you just feel the love, especially with the latter?I agree totally, it is to be done with Love in regards to the new Covenant, like I said, sin is sin.
Putting up with people who constantly call what you have filthy, evil, wrong, ect is a mighty tribute to love, and to God. I have a vast amount of respect for gay people, and any people that have to put up with ridiculous bigotry and prejudice from those who are ignorant, fearful, or not understanding.Yet, to watch it as entertainment is not loving to God either.
To like anime at all, you have to be pretty open minded. Another paradox I suppose.I do understand some good anime has only a little of that in it, and is hard sometimes to totally stay away from. I liked The Wanderers / El Hazard and it had that gay little girl, and the fact she was a little girl made it worse, I had to just hold my stomach for those parts since they werent too graphic.
Sadly, sarcasm is often a first response here.iter itineris said:Hummm, you said you dont care for my sarcastic tone, sorry that was just my first reaction.
I never said that about you. Go back and read what I wrote more closely, please. I was referring to bigoted, ignorant, and prejudiced people who condemned gay people with no sense or reason. I never mentioned you. If you feel like you fit that description though, I can't really do anything to help you. I suppose though, if you rose to defend yourself against statements that I didn't make against you, but instead made against people in general, it does make for an interesting observation. You said that it's immature and a pale attempt at coming across at being superior. How do you justify calling me ignorant, fearful, or not understanding? Id say that is a bit more offensive, you are assuming because I believe the Bible is saying what it says that I am ignorant?
Considering the only thing I specifically addressed to you were the verses you posted, I fail too see how I come across as being superior. You yourself, in fact, were the one asking if I even read the Bible to begin with, which I would consider far more of a superior attitude than going into depth about each verse you posted.Ya, that alone shows that you are showing that you yourself are pulling a superior attitude.
If you read about the history of the time when that part of the Bible was written, who it was written to, and why it was written, it makes perfect sence. It's on these grounds that the entire context of the text is established, so saying it's taken out of context is a contradiction. On the other hand, it's much easier to cherry pick one verse out of an entire chapter to suit ones needs, and disregard all instances having to do with the enviorment and whom it was being written to.It is true that these things happened, such as the having sex with the goddess Asherah. But I see no where in the Bible that this is referring strictly to that. Id say that was taking things out of context.
To get technical, the verse directly translated is: " You must not sleep the sleep of a woman with a man; it is ritually impure." So to even translate it into what you wrote, takes some interpretation. For instance, "ritually impure" becoming detestable, ect. I explained it fairly clear to my knowledge of what it was referring too. If you want to ignore what I wrote and continue to carry on about how you can't see how it can be "stretched" when it clearly shows a blaringly obvious link, I can't do anything for you.I dont see how a simple verse can be stretch 'Do not lie with a man as one lies with a woman; that is detestable. To mean something else.
Heterosexual couples have anal sex too. This argument is irreverent. Not to be graphic, but I suppose God created the rear end of a male to have a males part shoved up it.
Once again.. read above. Straight couples use toys as well. It's irreverent.Or that he created women to not have that part, so they can use devices they buy in a porn shop instead.
Sure, if you take a total of five words out of a chapter that had thousands, you could come to the conclusion that he was condemning gay people. You could also come to the conclusion that he was condemning anything that you wanted to consider unnatural. Natural relations could be relations between humans and the earth, or humans and God, you could stretch it to say anyone who wears eyeglasses or something equally ridiculous is being condemned because they are "exchanging natural relations (between their bodies and God) for what is unnatural. Of course, no one would do something as silly as that, because we know enough to read more than five words in a chapter of a book. Any book.I guess thats why Paul said, exchanged natural relations for unnatural ones???
Of course not. But, whenever it's you, it's always "interpretation", and whenever it's someone with a conflicting opinion, it's "twisting." The most we can do is look at the environment at the time the particular passage was written, and look at who it was written too. Without that knowledge, the Bible can become a very dangerous tool, as we have seen numerous times in history. But look at it how you want to. Anyone can say anything they want to by changing or adding to the interpretation of a Bible verse. No offense intended, in todays society I expect nothing less.
Well, someone brought up the idea that gays in anime were bad, I responded, and then you responded, and then I responded again.. and so on..But this is an anime list, so BACK TO ANIME! :topic:If you want to debate this I will be glad to join you in a group on a different category.
Arisu ring any bells? I'm pretty sure Lain thought of her as more then just a friend, though it didn't seem to be reciprocated. But that series is so open to interpretation it's hard to really make calls like that.iter itineris said:Really? I must have missed it, what scene are you referring to?![]()

Meh, you seemed to "refute" buy making general references to your own interpretation (such as what Paul meant, etc), and never really argued a specific point that I made. But, I agree, this is an anime board, so let's both drop it.iter itineris said:Sorry to escalate it, which is why I suggested a different group/discussion. You did your homework, Ill give you that. But each comment you made I can refute. So if to continue the appropriate measure is to continue this on a non-anime topic.![]()

Oh, I'm so sorry to hear that. Your friend will be in my prayers.iter itineris said:I didn't want to get too deep into it, NO that isn't a copout *cough*
I do want to note for the record, I have a really good friend who struggles with homosexuality and is dieing from aids. We are good friends and talk about the things of God a lot. Just didnt want you to think I was living in the old covenant where we are to stone those with sin. The argument between you and me is whether it is a sin or not. But like we both agree, wrong discussion group.![]()
No, I didn't think you lived in an old conenvant. I hope no one today would. It would be a scarry would, with some of the stuff found in the OT. But anyways, like ya said, not the right group to talk about this kind of thing. So back to anime. XDMissFirerose said:So back to anime. XD
I've always wondered about that. Like in BSSM, the youma sit there for like 10 minutes... patiently waiting for the senshi to finish transforming... why not just off them while they still are powerless?? Eh.. cause then the show would be over I suppose..shinpai_ga_nai said:The monsters could've killed them by the time they are done... -_-
Also a lot of dubbing jobs are awful on anime. Or companies edit out so much from the shows that it is almost unrecognizable...
