not that I don't like it, but I don't understand alot of the ways things like passion, love, hate, etc. are shown. I just don't get it
It stinks too
because the art work is awesome

ThePhoenix said:Actually Anime is "Animation." Cartoons has implications different from animation.
Have you seen Scrapped Princess, Last Exile, Noir, Full Metal Panic, Hikaru no Go, Hoshi no Koe, or Fullmetal Alchemist lately?Arikereba said:I dislike the trend for anime that are nothing more than a venue to show off four or five youngish girls in cute outfits, with no real story or motivation for it--basically, the trend to target every new anime only to 16-year-old boys. It's been too long since I've seen something really revolutionary.

What about the implication of heterosexuality in some characters...? Should we just discourage any relationship that deals with romantic feelings? Feh. Having homosexual characters or characters that have an orientation that implies that they might be homosexual or bisexual makes the series that much more realistic. Personally, I know of some very good series that have homosexual undertones, such as Shoujo Kakumei Utena and Yami No Matsuei, among other ones. I wouldn't be so quick to dismiss something just because of the trivial fact of who likes whom. But that's just me.Blessed-one said:well.. the biggest problems are fanservice and the implication of homosexuality in some characters.

There are a lot of interesting anime's with such undertones, sometimes so mild that they don't really intrude. Lain had such undertones... Maybe. Everything about Lain is a maybe actually... Revolutionary Girl Utena (Yes, I know the Japanese name is what you used Firerose. I just can't spell that) also had some mild undertones, but not really bad enough that it justifies skipping it for that.iter itineris said:Is realistic always good? Abortion is realistic, but I dont necessarily want to watch it happening for entertainment. I dont think many here consider it a trivial matter, since it is an abomination to God. But there are lots of things about anime that are sinful, I suppose on the arguments sake sin is sin and is all bad. What makes one worse than another? All is sin in Gods eyes. So it is a matter of what you personally justify by watching I guess...![]()
Personally, I often get irritated when people try to justify their personal prejudices towards things by relating whatever it is they thing prejudiced thoughts about to something that has absolutely no similarities. It's grasping at straws.iter itineris said:Is realistic always good? Abortion is realistic, but I dont necessarily want to watch it happening for entertainment. *laughs* Yes, almost all anime I've seen have some sort of gay character or homosexual underdones. I suppose because the fanbase of shonen ai/yaoi/boisu rabu (boys love) fangirls might even be bigger than that of het male fans. Scary eh, we're taking over the world.ThePhoenix said:There are a lot of interesting anime's with such undertones, sometimes so mild that they don't really intrude. Lain had such undertones... Maybe. Yeah, I'd really suggest trying to get your hands on some fansubs. It makes all the difference in the world, trust me. I totally gave up on dubs after seeing what DIC did to BSSM.quichua_girl said:i don't really like anime that much...... the only anime i like is a show that's i guess, americanized.... i think.
What forum? I tend to ignore most rumors now, since chances are they usually don't come true. For example, there were a few floating around back in october that said that there was going to be a second season of Get Backers. Never happened (yet.) Oh... so angry. I got my hopes up and everything.PuppyforChrist said:Actually I heard on another forum I'm on that they are coming out with Christian Anime in Japan. I could be wrong but that's what I heard.
