CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

This is fun for me but probably a snooze for most but I love to knit. Also purchasing yarn is lots of fun and reading patterns. Wow I am showing my age.

Depending on my mood at the time, and which part of my persona feels dominant, a number of things.
- Read - I'm in the beginning of "The Crimson Petal and the White".
- Throw something in the DVD player - I'm going to tackle "War and Remembrance" this weekend
- Watch TV if there's something good on, because I'm usually not in the mood for mindless television
- Go contra dancing if there's a dance in my area. I used to go to western Mass. to dance but with gas prices in NYS above $3.00/gallon AGAIN, I've really cut back on my driving. Now, I'm sticking to dances in the Albany area.
- Go out to one of the local bowling lanes (on Saturday) and watch my buddy bowl. I'll watch him bowl, then we'll go in the bar and talk over a double shot of Hennessey or two. He and another guy run a DJ service, and they run karaoke in this same bar, so things often get interesting, depending on who gets up to sing.
- Hang out with my buddy when he comes over to my apartment. We'll kill about 2 hours in a heartbeat talking; well, usually, it's him talking and me listening. We've been getting together like this off and on for nearly 3 years, and it's nice to get some "alone time" because that's when the best, conversations come, not when we are at the bar (see above).
- I used to enjoy going for a drive but, like I said, the gas prices are really curtailing that, so the only scenery I get to see these days is what lies between home and work.

HoosierCanuck, this was some time ago, but I hope you've found some. My favorites in indiana are Monroe and Griffey for the south. And up north Pine Lake and Lake Michigan. Walking on the beach (L.M.) is amazing, you've gotta try it.
Hope you were able to do those things. There's some good places in the Hoosier state.
