It is thousands of times higher than terrorists events for the last 20 years.
If there's "no way to stop evil" it seems odd this particular evil only seems to be a problem in one developed country.

LolI was hoping there was a point to be made at the end of your post. But it ended without one.
Or Orlando? Or San Bernardino? Or Columbine? Or Newtown?
Political action? Legal action? Social action? Personal action?
Or should we even bother? Do we simply resign ourselves to going through these motions again in another 6 months or so? Or are we counting on these kinds of incidents to just go away?

I think at the heart of it, this is ultimately a spiritual problem, produced in a world where there is no foundation to the belief that anything has any real value, outside of what our personal idiosyncrasies may or may not be willing to ceded to anything, even ourselves and other people.
Being created in the image of God, and therefore every human creature being from its conception to its natural end of a Divine nature is no longer believed or taught.
Scientific materialism teaches us that we are meat. For people who have become totally unconnected to society, this is what meat looks like.
It bleed a lot.
Just so long as we also agree that things like the travel ban are equally useless, I'm on board.
