What is so interesting about that statement. When Jesus clearly told us to be gentle as doves, but wise as snakes and instructed His followers to sell a cloak to buy a sword if they did not have one? Moreover, what is so interesting about it when clearly Jesus instructed that we care for people who cannot care for themselves ( which, by the way would include protection.

As for the mentally ill one could argue that a large part of it is for their own safety; even so there are other ways to defend yourself, but you still do not bring a knife to a gun fight.

The problem is who is going to be determining what/who is/isn't mental issues/ill? If it's like everything else Government does it will be by people who already have issues declaring sane people are the ones with issues...

More people die from suicide than killing by others in these massacres, and look at all those murdered YEARLY in Chicago alone (where a NO guns allowed law exists!)

I don't think it is possible to prevent all violent actions and so each person much live the life of Christ as much as possible. the good people should be close to each other and everyone should try to get along with others as much as possible. most people have a crude and unrefined morality and this needs to change.

there should only be laws that have real meaning such as "don't steal" so that cops can focus on what matters. no one should be oppressed by society if at all possible which means that the laws that make businesses profit should become invalid because the more oppression people have upon them the more they are likely to create alternative dominance hierarchies and function in them. less laws means less restrictions on a persons freedom which leads to more ways to make it in a proper way in the world.

There is little question that the banning of grenade launchers and machine guns make us more safe. IMHO, the same is true for kits that convert guns to machine guns. I also believe the same is true for assault weapons.

How about asking law enforcement professionals from countries that don't have regular mass shootings?

That's been done. Most of them have no problem with people being armed. Many in law enforcement have been saved by ordinary folks who were armed and were able to intervene when a cop was being attacked.
