That's fine. I'm not claiming any moral authority to determine what measures are proper for your personal safety. I'm just saying that the best way to bring about an end to the terrible mass shooting which plague the USA is to start by ending the current situation which has widespread and legal availability of guns in private hands.
There is a thing called the "second amendment". Even if it's been null and void and replace with a total gun ban on private hands it not feasible at all.

The banning of guns. If I had to honestly ask you if shooting Jews was ok, I think we'd already just be at the point I didn't speak to you.
Either have gun free zones or have them ( in private settings like that where they legally cannot be enforced.) In other words, you can asks them to leave, but you can only call the law if they refuse to do so and they can be cited and maybe arrested for trespass, but not for having the gun in a gun free zone.

Similar to if someone came to my house with a firearm and I asked them to leave and they refused?

The most salient fact you already know...that one man was able to arm himself like a small army, with nary a question directed his way and no barrier to him doing so.

This will happen again...and again and again, until you folk do something about your crazed gun culture.

But that isn't going to happen, is it......so kindly just keep your madness on your side of the Pacific...
Maybe do something about the culture but that does not mean gun control.

bingo. You could only asks people to respect that, but you could not have that sign and expect anything to be done other than that.

you serious?...why would the NRA want to legalize a silencer - surely there's evil intent using a silencer....what positive motive could you have for using one
Well, either one of two things hunting or maybe they just feel that our rights should not be limited in such a way.

And you haven't had the avalanche of "It's not the guns, it's the mental illness!" diversions either...
It's not that guns it is the people behind the gun. Those people may or may not be mentally ill.

Everyone needs Jesus.

Not the least being the Evangelical Community who wants to ensure we maintain gun rights. I am reminded of Jesus words:

"Then said Jesus unto him, Put up again thy sword into his place: for all they that take the sword shall perish with the sword."

(the so-called peace movement? wasn't it involved with a lot of drugs, sex, and other sin ? )

Yes. Sin was the primary motive for everything in the 60's Peace Movement. They were against the US government indiscriminately killing people in a war that was unwinnable for a cause that few actually believed in near the end. That's probably their greatest sin...wanting peace.

And don't forget this horrific sin:

Actually for most in this country it is a RIGHT.
It's a right you have to be able to afford to buy.

What other rights do we have to pay money to actually have and benefit from?

But without the gun it is much, much harder for the mentally disturbed to rain hot lead from the sky and murder >50 people in the space 9 minutes.

For one thing we have LITERALLY about 300 times that many guns in this country. For another we have the second amendment which would take some time to repeal ( even if we were willing.)
Australia still has plenty of guns, they're just better regulated.

Plenty of guns still in Australia. In the hands of criminals. Only law abiding citizens handed them in during the amnesty. (Of course.)

Anyway, the answer to the original poster's question is probably to raise children better. It's not the easiest solution and cannot be applied retrospectively to damaged adults but it's the only long term solution that would work.
thank you. Children LEARN behaviors ( for the most part. )

So, indeed, there's nothing we can do at all? We are all doomed to suffering this forever?

Can we then agree that no one should EVER offer prayers and condolences to the victims and their families in future mass shootings? If we give up and accept that nothing can be done then we CLEARLY DON'T ACTUALLY CARE ABOUT THE VICTIMS.

There are things we can do. But we choose to NOT do them. ERGO I don't ever want to hear some gun advocates or government official getting funds from the NRA in the future talk about how sad the next shooting is.

[deleted graven image or idolatry] ..It doesn't just have to be.

The peace Jesus brought to His disciples, and they brought to everyone subsequently , in the first century,
included freedom, so great a freedom, and true,
from sin, guilt, shame, the power of death, fear,
from perversion , sexual sins, greed, oppression , violence/ harmfulness,
and so much more....

so yes, a "peace movement" does not have to be with drugs, sex, and so on....

but many worldly churches in power since the early centuries have instead through the centuries perverted the gospel, denied Jesus,
promoted warfare, greed, oppression,
and deceived the masses , corrupted governments, slaughtered the innocent and done much to prevent
anyone from finding God's Kingdom, peace, joy and righteousness.
(anyone reading history may see this continually throughout history)
(unless they read the abridged version, re-written ..... as most are shown without seeing the rest of the story) ........

"Peace, peace, when there is no peace" .....

"The wicked grow more wicked...." until Jesus returns...

A few find the narrow road to life, in Jesus, and receive immeasurable peace, joy and righteousness, that no one can take away....
