why is the GOP and Right so smitten with AOC?

I'm going to go out on a limb here as a liberal and say that all the criticism of AOC and all the political potshots toward her aren't because the GOP is smitten with her. It's just the usual mudslinging and character assassination attempts that plague American politics. It's the same ole' song and dance of liberals going after conservatives and conservatives going after liberals. It certainly isn't one-sided.

Liberals go after conservative Trump supporters and conservative Trump supporters go after liberals and liberal politicians. It's kind of the nature of the beast in modern American politics, isn't it?

But I would like to say one thing as a liberal, it's really ridiculous for some conservatives to mock AOC and mock the people who voted for her when they voted for Donald Trump. He's a 72 year man with a speech level of a fourth-grader and his repeated spelling mistakes has become international news.

How about economically feasible?
Paying for the Green New Deal
We will need revenues between $700 billion to $1 trillion annually for the Green New Deal. $400 billion will be for the public jobs programs. Estimates for the transition to 100% clean energy start at $200 billion a year. Green New Deal – Full Language
You left this part out from the same source:
"Economists predict that we can build a 100 percent renewable energy system at costs comparable to or less than what we would have to spend to continue our reliance on dirty energy."

AOC is a young minority female Democrat. It is very scary to the old white male Republicans that people like her might actually have voice in US politics.

I saw that part, but that's where they start inserting their own opinions into it. Even referring to what we use now as "dirty energy" shows their ignorance and bias on the subject. The energy we're using has been cleaned up immensely, and they fail to recognize that. The original NGD proposed getting rid of natural gas and even nuclear energy, which produces no emissions at all aside from water vapor.

You don't have to advise her to hide behind race, age and gender. It's what got her elected, and will shield her from accountability for her entire term in office, while her critics are labeled as sexist, racist, and ageist as a way to dismiss what they say. All she has to do now is come out as homosexual and she'll be fully protected.

I see, so you cherry-pick the part you agree with, and disregard the part you don't agree with.

Also, the original GND is of no consequence. The final draft is all that matters. And, it doesn't even matter nearly as much as the right thinks. It is a resolution, not a bill, and hasn't even been brought for a vote. It is a set of goals, no policies, and has no legal binding.

Also, it doesn't include much of the stuff the right wing pundits and politicians love talking about like getting rid of cows and airplanes.

Like I said... mudslinging. I don't know if that's true for some old white male Republicans because none of the ones I know has ever admitted aloud that it's scary for them to have a young minority female Democrat with a voice in US politics. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if it was true for some though, but I wouldn't say that it was true for every single white male Republican, young or old.

I think we all understand that. The point is that it reveals what they intend to do, and how they intend to accomplish it, which doesn't look good once it's implemented when you factor in all the costs. It's a utopian idea, and it's what OAC and every member of the democrat party who wants to be our next president agrees with, which is something to take note of.

Exactly - a utopian idea, which will never come to full fruition, or at least not for a long time. Yet, its existence has the right all in a tizzy.

"achieve net-zero greenhouse gas emissions" within 10 years. That's what she says in her proposal. That indicates she doesn't believe it will take a long time.

I would be surprised if it happened that way, wouldn't you?

It is a noble goal, an idea, not policy.

Yes, but that wouldn't stop them from increasing taxes to a ridiculous amount to achieve their goal on the fears they use about how we don't have much time left before the earth becomes uninhabitable.

It is a noble goal, an idea, not policy.

Give it time, and a democrat elected in 2020, and that will change. All policies start out as ideas.

Not necessarily. It could be that's all the time we have.

That's the type of fear mongering her party uses to get things like this eventually into law.
I've been hearing about how we only have 10 or 20 years left since the 70s. We're still here, and still hearing about how we only have 10 years left.

The legislative process will not likely allow 70% marginal tax rates. That would require supporters of this approach to have a majority in the House, 60 seats in the Senate, and the White House. Not likely.

Claiming that electing democrats will lead to 70% marginal tax rates, elimination of air travel, and closure of the beef industry due to cow flatulence is fear mongering.

I don't claim it. They themselves do by proposing such things.

Again, no one is proposing eliminating air travel or the beef industry and a minority are proposing 70% marginal tax rates. Like I said, Republican fear mongering.
