Two weeks before a man walked into a Poway, California, synagogue and shot four people, killing one, an arsonist tried to burn down a nearby mosque. The same man likely committed both crimes. In a 4,000-word manifesto reportedly posted online by the synagogue shooter, a 19-year-old San Diego man named John Earnest, who was taken into custody on suspicion of committing the synagogue killing, claimed responsibility for the mosque arson in the nearby town of Escondido. He had done the arson in honor, he said, of the mass murderer who had recently killed 50 Muslim worshippers in New Zealand. “I scorched a mosque in Escondido with gasoline a week after Brenton Tarrant’s sacrifice and they never found (deleted) on me,” he wrote in his manifesto.

The connection between these two crimes screams at us to pay attention.

Funny. I'm white, am conservative (right-wing, if you will) and have been called racist plenty of times for even questioning the "identity justice warrior" types. I don't hate Jews though. Perhaps these labels don't mean as much as you seem to believe.

Earlier this week, Steve Scalise, the House Minority Whip and representative for Louisiana’s 1st Congressional District, demanded that Democratic Party leaders “remove [Omar] from the Foreign Affairs Committee” over her “disgraceful anti-Semitic remarks.”


Yet, in 2002, Scalise, then a Louisiana state representative, attended and spoke at a convention of the white supremacist European American Unity and Rights Organization, a group founded by David Duke. You remember Duke, right? The Holocaust-denying former grand wizard of the Ku Klux Klan who has been described by the Anti-Defamation League as “perhaps America’s most well-known racist and anti-Semite.”


Scalise later said he “regretted” — but did not technically apologize for — attending the EURO event. When Louisiana-based political reporter Stephanie Grace first met Scalise, he likened himself to Duke. Grace recalled, “He told me he was like David Duke without the baggage.”

This racist announced that a judge couldn't be fair because "he's a Mexican."

On Saturday an apparent white supremacist named Robert Bowers allegedly massacred 11 people at the Tree of Life synagogue in Pittsburgh. After he was subdued, Bowers also made statements that Jewish people were committing "genocide" against "his people." He told the police that he wanted all Jews to die. Bowers announced his impending attack on the alt-right-friendly social media platform known as Gab, which has since been shut down
