Been watching True Crime on YouTube.

I like how trashy the presentation of some of these True Crime content is presented. My favorite is probably of a thumbnail for a True Crime video of these teenagers who are being questioned for a murder showing one of them crying with the text "I want my mommy!" Displayed on the side.

The questionable and probably wrong body language commentary is amusing too.

I probably like the traffic stop altercations subgenre of True Crime the most. Most of it is lighthearted. Just citizens often acting like idiots and making otherwise traffic ticket worthy incidents into arrestable ones.

Watched Mary last night on N*tflix. Of course it followed the basis of the Nativity story and although well done, the whole thing seemed 'off'. Modern culture was being inserted into an ancient time along with a lot of embellishment. It even had the mandatory 'car chase' so to speak. After a bit of investigation I found Joel Osteen was behind its making, which would explain a lot. Worth the watch though at least once, if just to see if it raises any red flags.

Kraven might be the worst movie with a Marvel character. I dislike the constant negative dads in movies but thought it was a small part or wouldn't be that bad... it is so extreme. He might as well be the literal devil. It also has one of the most cynical endings I've ever seen in a mainstream movie.

Is it a man bashing movie?

I don't like the anti male rehtoric, but looking at the big picture I think it's good that films like these are pushing people away from traditional media. Hoping AI advances soon so the public can make their own films and have a heavier hand in the discourse of popular culture.

I would honestly say it is. What I thought was that Kraven was supposed to be a dark hero like Venom or Morbius. Instead, Kraven is written more as a jerk who justifies his own violence. The woman who saves his life and is partly responsible for his powers treats him like he's crazy. His brother who he helps multiple times keeps saying he's evil.
Kraven has his father mauled by a bear. It ends with his brother getting powers and implies he'll have to kill his brother if they make a sequel. The end has him wear an outfit his dad gave him, supposedly accepting he's bad like his dad. It didn't even make sense as he hates his dad the entire movie.
The whole movie presents men as essentially bad, but mostly it's the evil father narrative laid on ridiculously thick.

It's funny you say that about AI. I've been thinking the same, that once AI allows people to make their own movies it's going to really change the game. People will be able to make good stories that don't have to conform to Hollywood.

Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 1

As someone who hasn't read the books, I enjoyed most of it. It's a pretty good show if you like fantasy and mythology. Some cool visuals and clever ideas. Certain characters could be better, but none are terrible and most are interesting. Percy is a likable lead.

You may like the show if you can get past it not being completely faithful. I read about some of the changes and I think at least one is an improvement, Poseidon being a better dad. Annabeth is the most controversial though. In the book, she is nicer to Percy to start with, but in the show, she is cold to him until they get closer. It does kind of work with how the show is written.

It's been many years since I read the book, maybe around 15 years ago? I don't recall many details.

Thanks for the response :)

Cobra Kai season 1 is one of the best first seasons of a show put out in the last decade. It has some flaws but the good far outweighs the bad. A lot of the jokes are funny, the fights are great, and the characters are engaging. Villain redemption stories can be really mixed. Johnny's however is done in such a unique way that feels refreshing. The dynamic with him and Miguel is very fun.

I occasionally watch some true crime stuff. Interrogations can be really interesting. But the narrations of that body language stuff can be ridiculous. If you lean forward, you're guilty. If you lean back, you're guilty. Cross your legs or uncross your legs, you're guilty, lol.
