nowhere does it say the person who "believed" was ever saved. The devil "believes" as well is he saved ?
as james says a dead faith much like the pharisees in matthew 23Lol
Believers are not saved, those who accept the word as he did, are not saved, and the term "fell away" there means nothing in the scripture because there was apparently nothing to fall away from.
Again, lol
as james says a dead faith much like the pharisees in matthew 23
Somebody recommended him to me last week. surprised I’ve never come across him before, because I used to be into holiness teaching in a big way, especially Wesley/perfection etc.He gets around. He was a very early influence on me, being one of the speakers at the event where I became a Christian, but I didn't get to speak to him personally until about 12 years ago... where I gushed with enthusiasm.
Luke 8You just butchered the scriture...again.
There is no indication there whatsoever, the person who believed had dead faith...you are making that up, and changing clear scripture...again. Jesus said he believed...period.
Now prove he had dead faith, if you cannot you are not being truthful, and you admittedly added to scripture, in order to make a false claim.
And yet we're admonished to persevere. At the end of the day those who didn't persevere weren't the righteous after all apparently. Why would I do that? Proverbs 24:16 - For a righteous man may fall seven times and rise again, But the wicked shall fall by calamity.
Luke 8
“Now the parable is this: the seed is the word of God.
12 Those beside the road are those who have heard; then the devil comes and takes away the word from their heart, so that they will not believe and be saved.
13 Those on the rocky soil are those who, when they hear, receive the word with joy; and these have no firm root; they believe for a while, and in time of temptation fall away.
14 The seed which fell among the thorns, these are the ones who have heard, and as they go on their way they are choked with worries and riches and pleasures of this life, and bring no fruit to maturity.
15 But the seed in the good soil, these are the ones who have heard the word in an honest and good heart, and hold it fast, and bear fruit with perseverance.
And I quoted 1 Corinthians 10:13 to prove what REAL BELIEVERS do under temptation unlike the so-called " believer" in the parable who does just the opposite.
connect the dots.....................
hope this helps !!!
no you are reading that into the passage, james says the devil believes.Real believers? Jesus already said he was a believer.
We're you going to mprove he had dead faith and that you did not change clear scripture, or not?
No?
I didn't think so.
I appreciate the answer, but it doesn't do anything for a discussion of OSAS, one way or the other, does it?In theory yes, but in practice definitely not and I be very surprised if anyone achieved this. And I don't think it is about earning salvation as much as grasping hold of it and trying never to let go.
That is correct. Receive and Accept are synonyms. It does use the word “receive” in context to Jesus which is mentioned in John 1:12.
Receive is the same thing as accept.
nowhere does it say the person who "believed" was ever saved. The devil "believes" as well is he saved ?
In the parable you quoted( Luke 8 the soils) that belief had no works, it was a dead faith/belief.
Does it say the believer was the devil? Of course not
Please stop changing scripture to fit your agenda.
James 2
Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.
18 Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works.
19 Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble.
20 But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead?
21 Was not Abraham our father justified by works, when he had offered Isaac his son upon the altar?
22 Seest thou how faith wrought with his works, and by works was faith made perfect?
23 And the scripture was fulfilled which saith, Abraham believed God, and it was imputed unto him for righteousness: and he was called the Friend of God.
24 Ye see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only.
25 Likewise also was not Rahab the harlot justified by works, when she had received the messengers, and had sent them out another way?
26 For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.
no you are reading that into the passage, james says the devil believes.
next
you made that up.No, I am reading just what Christ said in context, and he said he was a believer, then you go to another scripture altogether and try to add it to this one, when it has nothing to do with this one.
You're making desperate attempts because you know you are wrong...good luck with that twisting of scripture of yours.
The point being they all believed if only for a while.Luke 8
“Now the parable is this: the seed is the word of God.
12 Those beside the road are those who have heard; then the devil comes and takes away the word from their heart, so that they will not believe and be saved.
13 Those on the rocky soil are those who, when they hear, receive the word with joy; and these have no firm root; they believe for a while, and in time of temptation fall away.

And I quoted 1 Corinthians 10:13 to prove what REAL BELIEVERS do under temptation unlike the so-called " believer" in the parable who does just the opposite. " but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it. "
connect the dots.....................
a real believer bears fruit the fakes do not, they have a DEAD FAITH with no FRUIT/WORKS as per James 2.
See Ephesians 2:8-10- a real faith that results in SALVATION produces good works/fruit.
hope this helps !!!
you made that up.
13 Those on the rocky soil are those who, when they hear, receive the word with joy; and these have no firm root; they believe for a while, and in time of temptation fall away.
A believer is present tense, they do not stop believing. Believing is continuous, not a one time thing.
hope this helps !!!
This post makes me think you are way off base and so I am going to come back and read all your posts to see if maybe this post has taken you way off base.Lol

sure it is I will give you one example. The word wedding in out culture and especially in our times in nothing like the meaning of the word in biblical times. Bride, Bridegroom, Betrothed etc..... all have much different meanings in our time and culture than it did in the time of Jesus and the disciples in Galilee. One must know the culture and history to understand and the meaning and symbolism behind the Jewish wedding to have any idea what the Parable of the 10 virgins mean and what it meant for the bride to be ready at all times for her Bridegroom for he will come at an hour you do not expect and like a thief in the night. For the time of betrothal could last anywhere between 1-3 years unlike our modern engagement which is completely different along with all the symbolism. So this is just one example of many there are in Scripture to understand the meaning of biblical words from a historical and Hebrew/Greek source rather than a secular one.
hope this helps !!!
You really do need to read a modern English Dictionary. Even in Biblical times a wedding had nothing to do with accepting and receiving. There is absolutely no resemblance between a wedding today and one in the time of Jesus and the disciples in Galilee.
