  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

100%. I think a lot of what people describe as 'losing your salvation', is people who were never saved in the first place departing, natural progression.
Jesus states that some people believe (obey his commandments) for a while, but then later they fall away from the faith when they choose to sin.

Luke 8:13
Those on rocky ground are the ones who, when they hear, receive the word with joy, but they have no root; they believe only for a time and fall away in time of trial.
.
These people left our churches, but they never really belonged with us; otherwise they would have stayed with us. When they left, it proved that they did not belong with us (1 John 2:19).
We do not know for sure who is truly faithful. However, we can tell who was not faithful if their sins become public.

1 John 2:26 These things have I written unto you concerning them that seduce you.
27 But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him.
28 And now, little children, abide in him; that, when he shall appear, we may have confidence, and not be ashamed before him at his coming.
29 If ye know that he is righteous, ye know that every one that doeth righteousness is born of him.
If you don't do righteous deeds, you will not inherit eternal life. Matthew 12:50, Matthew 25:31-46

Acts 10:34-35 Then Peter proceeded to speak and said “In truth, I see that God shows no partiality. 35 Rather, in every nation whoever fears him and acts uprightly is acceptable to him.

John 14:23-24 Jesus replied, “Anyone who loves me will obey my teaching. My Father will love them, and we will come to them and make our home with them. 24 Anyone who does not love me will not obey my teaching. These words you hear are not my own; they belong to the Father who sent me.

If a person claims that he's a believer/follower of Jesus Christ but does not obey Jesus' commandments, he is a liar. He's merely a fan of Jesus Christ; he's not a follower of Jesus Christ. 1 John 2:4

OSAS is absolutely true, sinning to cheat grace is already dealt with in Paul's letters. OSAS does not mean genuine Christians don't grow in holiness.

God would not save someone from hell and then push them back into hell and say "just kidding".

“God loves the saints as the purchase of his Son's blood. They cost Him dear, and that which is so hardly got shall not be easily lost. He that was willing to expend his Son's blood to gain them, will not deny His power to keep them.” William Gurnall
Scripture disagrees with William Gurnall.

God gives the gift of free choice to humans. They may choose to remain faithful, or they may choose to sin. However, if Christians sin and don't repent and confess their sins before they die, they will not be approved to inherit eternal life. Revelation 14:12, Revelation 2:10

Hebrews 10:26-30 If we deliberately keep on sinning after we have received the knowledge of the truth, no sacrifice for sins is left, 27 but only a fearful expectation of judgment and of raging fire that will consume the enemies of God. 28 Anyone who rejected the law of Moses died without mercy on the testimony of two or three witnesses. 29 How much more severely do you think someone deserves to be punished who has trampled the Son of God underfoot, who has treated as an unholy thing the blood of the covenant that sanctified them, and who has insulted the Spirit of grace? 30 For we know him who said, “It is mine to avenge; I will repay,” and again, “The Lord will judge his people.”

Hello! Persecution and other trials can have the effect of sifting the wheat from the chaff. IMHO whoever is born again will endure through hard times. As the bible says : Simon Peter answered him, “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life (John 6:68) God Bless :)

1 John 2:29 If ye know that he is righteous, ye know that every one that doeth righteousness is born of him.
Jesus will judge us to be approved or unapproved for eternal life when we physically die. Until then, we spiritually die if we commit heinous sins. If we do not repent of all our heinous sins before we die, we will not be approved for eternal life. When we are spiritually dead while we are physically alive, none of our righteous deeds will be remembered. If we die in this state, Jesus will even claim that he never knew us. Matthew 7:22-23, Luke 13:23-27

Ezekiel 33:12-17
As for you, son of man, say to your people: The justice of the just will not save them on the day they sin; the wickedness of the wicked will not bring about their downfall on the day they turn from their wickedness. No, the just cannot save their lives on the day they sin. 13 Even though I say to the just that they shall surely live, if they, relying on their justice, do wrong, none of their just deeds shall be remembered; because of the wrong they have done, they shall die. 14 And though I say to the wicked that they shall die, if they turn away from sin and do what is just and right— 15 returning pledges, restoring stolen goods, walking by statutes that bring life, doing nothing wrong—they shall surely live; they shall not die. 16 None of the sins they committed shall be remembered against them. If they do what is right and just, they shall surely live.
17 Your people say, “The way of the Lord is not fair!” But it is their way that is not fair.

Unless a Christian repents of his heinous sins, such as adultery, fornication, unforgiveness, etc., before his physical death, he will not be approved to inherit eternal life.

Romans 2:1-8
Therefore, you are without excuse, every one of you who passes judgment. For by the standard by which you judge another you condemn yourself, since you, the judge, do the very same things. 2 We know that the judgment of God on those who do such things is true. 3 Do you suppose, then, you who judge those who engage in such things and yet do them yourself, that you will escape the judgment of God? 4 Or do you hold his priceless kindness, forbearance, and patience in low esteem, unaware that the kindness of God would lead you to repentance? 5 By your stubbornness and impenitent heart, you are storing up wrath for yourself for the day of wrath and revelation of the just judgment of God, 6 who will repay everyone according to his works: 7 eternal life to those who seek glory, honor, and immortality through perseverance in good works, 8 but wrath and fury to those who selfishly disobey the truth and obey wickedness.

Satan and his cohorts will use every weakness of ours to tempt us to fall away from the grace of salvation. 1 Peter 5:8

If we fall away from this saving grace because of committing heinous sins and then die before we repent, we will not be approved to inherit eternal life.

The author of Hebrews sternly (hyperbolically) warns all of us that it is very difficult to repent after committing heinous sins. This is because we receive pleasure from our sins and want to continue the pleasurable experience.

Hebrews 6:4-6
For it is impossible in the case of those who have once been enlightened and tasted the heavenly gift and shared in the holy Spirit and tasted the good word of God and the powers of the age to come, and then have fallen away, to bring them to repentance again, since they are recrucifying the Son of God for themselves and holding him up to contempt.
