But as someone who claims "science ain't their bag", you're probably not in the best position to comment on science in the first place.
Ya ... good point.

It's hypocritical for someone who doesn't understand combustion theory to tell kids not to play with matches, isn't it?

You're missing the point, but by all means carry on...

Are you telling me science has adjusted to Pluto's demotion?

If so, why are California, New Mexico, and Illinois fighting it? not to mention other scientists fight it as well?

In addition, it was demoted by a rigged vote:

The Pluto Issue (again)
You know that nothing about Pluto has actually changed, don’t you?

Then why do you bring it up so often?
Because Pluto is a good example of how science evidently works.

Here's an object in space that has never changed, but it has been labeled a planet, and now a dwarf planet ... and was done so by way of rigged vote.

It also shows science's unwillingness to change its stance on something they crookedly came up with, even in the face of legislation from three states and public dissention.

In short, it exposes scientists for what they really are: crooks.

Who benefits from the reclassification?

[King James] McGraw-Hill

Rewrite those science textbooks and get them in the cholerage bookstores and make students use the newly-updated ones for $275.00 apiece!

Public, schmublic. The last thing you want is the public deciding these things, or Pluto would probably end up renamed "Planet McPlanetface".

But that happens every few years any way. In the four years I was an undergrad I didn’t have to buy more than one edition of anything.

I think the great text book new edition scam is not real.

What specifically does that have to do with Pluto?

Do you really believe that?

After 76 years of acceptance and no fanfare whatsoever, you think the public schmublic is suddenly going to pick our outer planet and make a big deal out of it?

No ... the public schmublic doesn't do those things.

Science does.

Just about the time their money is about to run out, they'll come up with a "major discovery" or a "major breakthrough" to keep the money flowing.

Funny, here I thought those scientists you despise figured these things out.
I don't despise scientists.

I feel sorry for them, and I pray for them.

Hate the science; convert the scientist.

That makes no sense whatsoever.
It's a saying used by Christians on ... well ... those who live differently than we do.

People like to accuse us of saying: "Hate the sin, love the sinner" when actually it's: "Hate the sin, convert the sinner."

And as someone who is clearly enjoying the benefits of said science, also more than a little hypocritical.
'Makes no sense whatsoever,' yet it's 'more than a little hypocritical.'

LOL then.

I know where it comes from, I'm just saying it makes no sense.

On top of that, I find such statements to be a giant pile of crap in practice that are usually said to excuse individual prejudice. People are usually pretty bad at separating individuals from ideas.

'Makes no sense whatsoever,' yet it's 'more than a little hypocritical.'

LOL then.

My point is that creationists routinely decry science and scientists, yet seem in no hurry to turn their backs on the benefits* that scientific inquiry and technological advancement has brought to their lives.

* (Possibly with the exception of those that reject medical treatments in favor of faith-healing or other kooky beliefs. Although the consequences of such can be pretty horrible, especially when innocent children suffer and/or die at the hands of their parents' stupidity.)
