Video gaming contributes more to climate change than household freezers or cooking

Some of the information doesn't surprise me. PC gaming in particular has a disproportionate impact, largely owing to the large power supplies most gaming PC's are equipped with. I have been noticing for some time most PC graphics cards and high end CPU's could be undervolted and underclocked, saving alot of power with only a small performance impact. Manufacturers build these components for performance, and are capable of operating alot more efficiently than stock settings.

One suggestion from the article that is good advice in general is to use vertical sync and/or framerate caps in 3D games or applications. That's capable of reducing PC gaming power consumption by about 39%.
