....when the results do not jive with his political agenda, reject it:

Officials in President Trump’s administration Friday downplayed an intelligence report by the Homeland Security Department that contradicts the White House’s main arguement for implementing a travel ban on seven predominantly Muslim countries.

The report, which was viewed by The Wall Street Journal and Associated Press, determined that the "country of citizenship is unlikely to be a reliable indicator of potential terrorist activity."

All those who like to reject reality and simply keep going on their preconceived ideas as to what makes America great have found, in Trump, their president.

Luke 19:41-42 When He approached Jerusalem, He saw the city and wept over it, saying, "If you had known in this day, even you, the things which make for peace! But now they have been hidden from your eyes.

I am certain, there are various opinions on where the higher risks lie when you invoke those with the most knowledge and some will disagree.

The reality is, the president does have some leeway in determining the risk and the fact, that the Obama administration already identified those 7 countries as being higher risk, must have been based on something.

It's so funny how the left and anti-Trumpers go on and on about the intel reports after spending the last 16 or so years going on and on about the 'unnecessary' Iraq war and how there really weren't any WMDs. Intel reports can be wrong.

I'm not saying this one is wrong, as I actually believe this one. Everyone was saying, "but no terrorists came from those 7 countries!" and I said, "They don't have to of come from there. They are recruited and SENT to Iraq, Iran, Syria, etc for training."

So, if you want to believe this intel report yourself, then you might just have to agree with Trump that terrorists are being sent all over the world through the Syria refugee crisis.

Cheney and Rumsfeld did the very same thing....when the CIA assessed there was no connection between Al Qaeda and Sadaam Hussein, they created their own agency to produce the intel product they wanted to hear. WMD was only one part of the justification for war. The other was the prospect of Sadam Hussein teaming up with Al Qaeda to attack western targets. There was no intelligence basis for that threat in the days leading up to the Iraq war.

....agree with Trump based on what? His fear-mongering?

It wasn't just the U.S. though. The allies also had the same exact intelligence reports. For us just making stuff up, other countries sure had the same intelligence on Saddam.

Tony Blair confidently declared, ‘the assessed intelligence has established beyond doubt that Saddam has continued to produce chemical and biological weapons [and] that he continues in his efforts to develop nuclear weapons.’

Iraq war: the greatest intelligence failure in living memory

From the link:
Much of the key intelligence that was used to justify the war was based on fabrication, wishful thinking and lies - and as subsequent investigations showed, it was dramatically wrong. Saddam Hussein had no weapons of mass destruction (WMD).

But crucially, there was intelligence that proved to be right. And, as a forensic, six-month investigation we conducted for BBC Panorama has revealed, it came from two highly-placed human sources at the very top of Saddam’s regime.

Both said that Iraq had no active WMD. Both were ignored or dismissed.

[As an aside, most countries did believe Iraq had chemical weapons. US forces prepared for it.]

...and why did that happen? The Bush Administration was ignoring information that contradicted their justification for war. There were warnings within the Intel community. The single sources used were deemed unreliable. NSC and CIA personnel raised the alarm. Yet Cheney and friends ignored it.

Trump is going down the same road....

Trump is going down the same road....

The Senators (several democrats included), where also involved in analyzing the intel and made the same mistake.

Where do they come from?

Many terrorists come from the families of "collateral damage"

Many terrorists come from our ridiculously bad and short sighted foreign policy which has been horrific since the 1950s.

Many terrorists come from our hypocrisy which is so obvious that even a blind man can see.

I know we like to say terrorists are just jealous and hate our freedom... But the hard truth to face is that we are very culpable in creating terrorists, to include the non-existent terrorists that the Neo Cons and alt right and corporate leftists use to maintain control of the populace, erode our rights, and keep money flowing to the Military Industrial Complex...

And, it was a failure that both parties, share in.

Agree. Every President has a tendency to push the Intel that meets his objective. Some push the boundaries much further though. Trump will probably set new "standards" in that regard....
