He is ,at the moment, the leading contender for the Republican nomination to the office of president. If he is making campaign promises which if kept would subvert the Constitution, voters should be aware of it.

Once upon a time one of the most significant checks was the voters rejecting anyone who would disregard the law. When the voters fail to do that bad things tend to happen.
