Infections and cross contamination in hospitals is a big problem and I know that most hospitals in the US are working toward going all private, aren't they? Here, you're tested for MRSA before admission and put in isolation if positive.

Sounds like the VA - 6 people to a room unless you're MRSA positive. Then, instead of getting a private room, you just go into the MRSA room where everyone is positive...
HIPAA goes right out the window when there are 6 people in a room, although it's quite funny when all the roommates are offering advice when you're trying to talk to a patient.

How funny! Are most of them elderly, Mel?

I found that the ladies would wait until the docs were gone and then fill one another in on that doc's history and patient reviews. It was cute, but there are obviously some docs that no one likes beacuse of their inability to diagnose properly, which I can appreciate. Someone ordered a chest x-ray for me while I was hurling my guts up????? Uhm, OK.

More and more I'm thinking that once I finish my ICT degree, I'll focus on getting a position in a hospital or clinic of some kind. I like the idea of helping people even with my non-medical talents and doing some shift work outside of normal business hours would be OK, as well. :)

Finished my Christmas shopping and I'll be getting the kitties their picture taken at the mall next Tuesday :) It will be interesting (we are bringing 2/3 because the other one is too skiddish and I don't want her running off).

Hi Porter. I had my gall bladder out over a year ago. I have been doing great ever since. I'm sure you will feel much better. Take care of yourself.

I became a grandma (oma) over the weekend! She is a darling baby girl.

 Yay for babies. What a blessing and wonderful Christmas present to boot!

I'm glad you're doing better after the GB surgery. I hate the idea (and expense) of it, but I am also tired of being sick and in pain, so we might just go ahead with it ASAP, no matter what the HIDA scan reveals. I don't relish the idea of another hospital stay during the holidays.

Kittens and photography sessions....hmmm, I'd like to see the video of that exercise. :p Good luck!

Porter,
They don't do the laparoscopic method and you home after few hours? That is how most of us here have it done. It is when they have to do the open method that one stays in the hospital a few days.

Yes, it will be laproscopic and I plan on being home the same day. They are a bit behind here, but that's the norm now unless there are complications. My surgeon has done a bit of training in San Antonio, so he likes to show off what he knows. You know how thay are. ;)

We all accept that if it's not done soon I might well be back in A&E needing morphine and IV fluids. That's the kind of hospital visit I'd like to never need again.

My old church had a Christian rock concert in the sanctuary yesterday. Yes...there's a big reason why I left it. Part 2 was the lack of respect for a place of worship. They DO have a fellowship hall.

The church I go to has a contemporary service, they have it in the gym. They have the traditional services in the sanctuary

:wave:Hi everyone!

I haven't logged in for a while, but I peek in to lurk once in a while.

We have had an addition to our family. Tiger has a new sister. The adoption was final a couple weeks ago. Sis is 15, a freshman in high school, and an inch taller than Mr. Bloomer. We have teenage girls and 8-year-old boys coming and going all the time at our house.

We did solve Sis's Confirmation conundrum. After a meeting with Pastor and our family doctor who happened to be at the church when we asked Pastor, we found the answer to Sis's grape allergy is intincture. Much simpler than remembering to take Benedryl to church.

yesterday was my birthday (29 again)! My youngest son had a basketball game and after the game he had the team (this is a 7/8th grade team) and the cheerleaders AND coaches sing "Happy Birthday" to me from the floor. To say the least, I was very surprised and a little embarrassed! I do have to say I love those kids and am blessed to have such a great kid and a great Lutheran school for him to attend!!
