Went to this antique place that just opened up, saw a couple I knew, this lady came in they knew and she started talking to me about getting an online business website to sell stuff. She went in this big spill about how you join and get others to join. You pay $50 a month and go to seminars every month. I asked well what kind of store is it, can you sell anything or is it one specific company or w...hat. I never could get an answer out of her. She kept trying to get me to come to the seminar. I told her I wouldn't do it if I didn't have more info. After she left the lady I knew came out and said it was Amway. It was more of a pyramid thing, going after people to join than going out and sellling the Amway products. I ended up telling that lady I knew, there was no way I was going to do that. I just dont understand people getting suckered into to those things.

Yikes! You've got a good level-head on those shoulders of yours!! No way would I ever get involved in Amway either!

We had snowflakes overnight and this morning, to warm for them to stick, cold and dreary out today. I got a fire going in the fireplace. Doesn't look like its going to get out of the 30's today, 50's for high a few days towards the end of the week and weekend, Alabama weather for you.

Cold and windy here in Michigan today....and I went grocery shopping. Plus a few other errands. Ugh, winter is coming.

My daughter-in-law who is due any day, just caught a nasty cold. Poor girl. I hope she gets over it quickly.

Hubby is leaving on a business trip to California this sunday. I might need you guys to keep me company for a few days.

Tell your daughter-in-law to keep up with the fluids. My daughter has an upper respiratory infection that we thought was strep throat...but still, either one means she is out of school for a couple of days.

And ... another job opportunity goes down the drain, while another seems to be spinning about it slowly. Meanwhile what work I do have has dried up, which may bring about a furlough just in time for Christmas ... which would push me one step closer to going bankrupt.

My head knows that God's love is constantly there - my heart is just having trouble feeling it.

I've been listening to Christmas music all day today at work. It just really lifts my spirits!!! :)

I have a collection of 78s from the twenties to the fifties. The old classic Christmas carol performances are wonderful. They even say Amen from time to time. Seems to me that before the sixties, people still knew what Christ-mas was all about.

I know the feeling my friend. Intimately, I'm afraid as I've been there several times. Once when my boss fired the whole staff to replace us with Chinese nationals, and I consequently had to file bankruptcy to keep HUD from taking my home a few years later. Five years ago when Greyhound fired me on trumped up charges (even the Judge said it looked phony), I was unable to find a job. I've never been able to find gainful employment since. Trinity County Ca. has one of the highest unemployment rates at sixty percent. To move I'd have to walk as the cost of gas makes it impossible any other way.

So, I have to exist on the Lord's charity.
He gives me George's house to live in.
My friends give me work, or just money quite often, to help out.
I don't ask for help from the Church as they're broke too.

The Lord does love you. He has promised to never leave you. Neither God nor Jesus ever promised you worldly riches. In fact, Christianity often resulted in poverty in the past. That day might be coming again. Watch Mel Gibson's version of the Passion again. It will remind you of just how much Jesus does love you.

I don't say any of this to belittle how you feel Archaenfel. Not at all. This un-loved feeling is the evil one using the cares of this world to whisper lies in your ear. Don't let him pummel your faith like that.

God does love you dearly.
Jesus loves you like his own brother, in fact he says you are his brother.
They see your struggles and are with you every step of the way. You recieve help from them in a thousand invisible ways.

Have faith, little brother. You are dearly cherished and deeply loved indeed.

My husband and I went through bankruptcy last year. It was not pleasant, but the Lord remained with us throughout everything. He will never leave you, and you will be ok. God does amazing things in these situations that we didn't even think were possible.

*cough* *cough*

I've had a nasty cold all week...

Howdy, Mel. Good to see you here.

Yuck. That’s not good. I found that my best approach to a cold is to have soup (I like cream of mushroom) and add as much cayenne pepper as I can stand. After a couple days, it seems to reduce the effects of the cold, especially the head congestion that comes with it.

At any rate, hope you recover quickly.

Hubby flew to California this morning for a business trip. I miss him a lot when he is gone. I do have our ladies get-together called Advent by Candlelight late this afternoon though. I have never been to it, so I don't know what it's about. I'm bringing a pumpkin mousse for the event. I'm sure there will be many other goodies there.

No new grandbaby yet......

Got home from the hospital yesterday after my second visit in as many months. This time they made me stay for a few days, though and I didn't resist. It really annoys me that something as inconsequential as the gallbladder can make me so ill. Hopefully, it will be a distant memory by this time next week. That's my Christmas present to my consultant who lives to do surgery. ^_^

Funny how God works, isn't it? I haven't had to share a hospital room since I was a kid, but as I was an emergency admission into an NHS hosp here, I was put on a ward with four beds to a section. It wasn't that bad and even though it could be anything but calm, it was kind of nice being part of a little group of patients who watched out for and cared for one another. There were no male patients on the floor and it was nice to be able to wander down the hall without a robe and pop into any of the shower/bathing rooms with no worries.

As much as I am relieved that my surgery will be done at a private hospital and I'll have my own room, I can also see the benefits of not isolating patients. It's done that way here because the NHS claims to be out of money (it obviously all goes to admin, but that's another bag of boogers), but it seems to make some things easier for the nurses and maintenance staff. I know that as sick as I was, I honestly didn't care who was in the bed next me as long as I felt I was being looked after.

Still, as good as the nurses are in the NHS, I would challenge anyone who advocates Obamacare to come to England for diagnosis and care when ill with something neither obvious nor routine. Rationed health care is simply inhumane and telling people there's not enough money to provide more resources to figure out a medical problem that's disrupting their lives is cold and cruel. I honestly don't believe most Americans would tolerate the standard of care offered here for serious illness.

What do those of you involved in Health care think? Has the damage done by Obamacare irreversible or can the right person in the election correct things?

I am glad that you have figured out what the problem is and that it will be taken care of soon. I pray that the surgery goes well and that the recovery is quick.

The main reason why hospitals have gone to mainly private rooms is HIPPA. Private rooms are suppose to reduce the risk of infection being transferred from patient to patient. I do know what you mean about each in a room looking out for others as well as feeling less isolated. Now when I had my hysterectomy for cancer, I did ask for a private room Just wanted to be myself and my family at that time.

As far as Obamacare, I don't know what will happen there. Parts of it are going through the court system now. I do know that when I worked on a hysterectomy/cancer support site, I learned a lot of how they system worked in England and what they had to go through to get the surgery and treatment was a much longer process than here in the States.

Thanks, QA. It was my NHS GP who diagnosed it as gallbladder issue, but as there were no stones, it became a mystery with all these testing steps that would have be gone through and each one has a waiting list as does non-emergency surgery. There are simply not enough hospitals or testing facilities and it's inexcusable given how much tax is raised here.

We went private early on in the process as we didn't want to get caught in the infinite loop of NHS procedure. Still, the HIDA scan and final test the gastroenteroligist wants for record is done at the NHS hospital so we have had to wait three weeks. I guess that was longer than my system could take without needing intervention. Having never been an emergency patient myself, I put it off for as long as I could, but I was pretty sick and it really has scared my hubby.

Anyway, we're very fortunate that I have access to outstsanding consultants and they were at the hospital almost immediately after learning I'd been admitted. Of course the surgeon wanted to open me up right then and there, but the gastroent. would like to wait until next week to get a better idea what to expect, I guess. It was like watching a tennis match, but that could have been the effects of the morphine. :p

Infections and cross contamination in hospitals is a big problem and I know that most hospitals in the US are working toward going all private, aren't they? Here, you're tested for MRSA before admission and put in isolation if positive.

I agree that having your own room is better when surgery is involved. Being able to have visitors any time and having someone stay with you all night is nice. I spent a couple of nights with my mom after she had her knee replaced and she really needed someone there.

How's your school going? Are you going to specialize?

Nurses work so hard and also have to be so caring while providing accurate medical care. I applaud anyone willing to do such a demanding job. Thank you for being willing to care for others when they need help.
