So what do you think of this...the church my hubby works at is having an 11PM service on Christmas Eve (and New Year's Eve actually). He was going to have to work too...then I told him to tell the pastor if he works he is not going to church on Sunday. That changed things right away.

Seriously...he's grumpy enough with 8 hours of sleep having to wake up at 6:30AM...I didn't want to think about how bad he'd be with only 4 (because he probably wouldn't get home until 2:30/3).

What does a maintenance man have to do that involves a Christmas Eve service?

Unless your talking in a general way like, cleaning, organizing ect?

He doesn't typically do cleaning because there is a janitor for that. They shouldn't have services that late. He told me that there are people upset about it because they have families and it's just too late. They used to have a 7 and 10pm one.

hmm, well typically didn't the Church usually always hold midnight vigils?

It's a little different when you have a service the next morning.

I'm pretty sure my Church is holding the service at around 11, so it gives people to wake up, and do their present openings.

Hello, dear friends! After a 4 month hiatus, I've decided to come back to TCL. Yep, it's me - formerly known as seajoy (CF didn't like my old name and password, I guess. So I got a new name). I'm going to be an oma in about 3 weeks or so, and I'm pretty joyous about it - thus the new name. It is my son's wife who is due shortly, and the Lord is blessing us with another grandchild in May. Our daughter is now pregnant too. So much fun.

I have missed you all very much, but needed the break. I feel refreshed and ready for some wonderful Lutheran conversation. I am friends with several of you on fb, so I know that DaRev and a&bmom got married.....any other exciting stuff happen out there in TCL Land? I really look forward to hearing about all of you, and I would guess that there are new people here too. I have not been lurking, so I don't know at all what has been going on.

Happy Thanksgiving to one and all! We are spending a lazy day at home by ourselves. Football and turkey....Go Packers! We went to such a nice Thanksgiving service last night. Love the hymns. Have a great day everyone.

We're having lasagna, garlic bread, salad, meatballs, eggplant and some turkey on the side...with cheesecake for dessert! Yay! Now to clean the house.

we had turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, green bean casserole, candied yams, carrots, homemade cranberry sauce, and rolls - pumpkin and dutch apple pie for dessert - we are UNBELIEVABLY full....LOL.....

this has been an amazing, blessed 1st holiday for us as a family......thank You God!!!
