Agreed that the wailing and gnashing of teeth will be as voluminous as it will be constant, and there might be incidents of violence; but I don't think that's going to translate into him becoming more popular. It’s not hard for me to imagine a situation where there’s some amount of backlash to his being arrested, where folks see that as Dems piling on some sort of witch hunt.
Well apart from the fact you have already convicted him you obviously overlook some important facts. 1. Federal prosecutors from the US Attorneys office for the Southern District of NY passed on this case in 2019. 2. The Federal Election Commission also passed on this case in 2021. 3. The potential charge of “Falsifying Business Records “ is usually a misdemeanor, the statute of limitations expired long ago. 4, The attempt by this partisan hack DA to upgrade to a felony has been questioned by many legal scholars on both side of the political spectrum. 5. This DA ran on “getting Trump” while failing to prosecute real and sometimes violent criminals. This is very obviously a partisan witch hunt and will likely backfire but those behind this cannot resist the visual of seeing Trump in cuffs. Even if convicted in this highly partisan jurisdiction this case has no chance of holding up in the appeals process, but that is of no concern to the “get Trump” crowd. Let’s see if the outrage for legal justice holds up for the investigation into Chinese money flowing into the Biden family accounts. Hmm falsifying business records or treason this is going to be very interesting to watch as it unfolds.I find this line of thinking bizarre. He's consistently unpopular and polarizing and while the conservative base is as ardently enamored with him as ever, the majority of the population is, at the very least, over him. I'm not seeing how his being held accountable for crimes he's committed is going to somehow translate into him getting more votes.
The irony being that blind devotion to Donald is clouding the eyes and judgement of those who would let him get away with his criminal behavior.
Now we know that is not going to happen but I honor court decisions.
The bulk of the investigation had already been conducted before Bragg came into office. I think he chose one of the weakest possible charges. The financial bank fraud has already been proven against his organization. I don’t know why Bragg didn’t go with that.Well apart from the fact you have already convicted him you obviously overlook some important facts. 1. It would help to understand what you are talking about if you could give concrete examples.try to grasp that I am endorsing a concept.
To be fair it was right wing Christians who did all the Witch hunting and burning. Today it's not that group doing it and no 1000s of innocent people are being killed.More importantly, and appropriately, who will be the first one to tie his hands behind his back and throw him in a pond to see if he floats?
I hope he will be found guilty. That would make my day.We call them Americans, they believe people are innocent until PROVEN guilty.
Speaking for myself only, I've never been convinced he'd be going to jail. Hoping? Sure. Convinced? Hardly.Ever since that "Former Guy" got into politics as a Republican, you Democrats have been 100% CONVINCED time and time and time and time again that he was guilty of this, that, and another thing. The evidence was there. Shady politicians promised to have the smoking gun. Trump was going to jail. Now all the Dems are on the edge of their seats believing the same song and dance, expecting him to go to jail. You keep letting your masters rile you up. It's a political game, nothing more.
Politicians are also known for being corrupt, dishonest, and the like, but people get into their own little bubbles and act like their side is clean and tidy while the other side is evil and dirty.Speaking for myself only, I've never been convinced he'd be going to jail. Hoping? Sure. Convinced? Hardly.
But in some respects, Trump isn't really special on this front. The guy's career was centered around real estate development, casinos, and entertainment before he got into politics. One more and I could fill out my corruption bingo card. I can probably count on my fingers the industries better known for being skeezy. (trash removal, import/export... what else?) A casino mogul into something shady is such a tired trope that they don't even make movies about it anymore.
So, yes, I do assume he's guilty of something.
"Lock her up! Lock her up!"Ever since that "Former Guy" got into politics as a Republican, you Democrats have been 100% CONVINCED time and time and time and time again that he was guilty of this, that, and another thing. Trump isn't going to jail. And for those of you who said he's guilty...there has been NO trial. None. Every person is innocent until proven guilty.
Trump isn't being prosecuted by NY State for "mishandling funds" but - probably, we don't yet know the exact charges - for filing false documents to cover up tax fraud and campaign mismanagement. This is the sort of thing that is commonly prosecuted in New York. Should Trump get special treatment? If Trump is going to jail for mishandling funds, so is Obama.
Mishandling classified documents probably isn't the actual issue - obstruction of justice, lying about it and possibly theft (all the gifts given to the president that Donald felt entitled to keep) is more likely. If Trump is going to jail for mishandling classified documents, so is Joe Biden.
How did the Democratic politicians enable the Patriot Prayer thugs to beat up the BLM protesters? If they did call out for Antifa to come to particular protests ("it's going to be wild") then, sure, prosecute them.If Donald Trump is going to jail for the riots on January 6th, so is every single Democrat that enabled deadly riots over the last 6-7 years!

This is just one man about to experience righteous wrath and justice from the people.
The day ain't quite over yet, but it's looking like MAGA may have to change the names of the days of the week to make Trump's prophecy come true.I wonder if he's reacting to the 'security arrangements' that were being discussed 'hypothetically'.

Just for your edification here is one example. You mean like how conservatives still claim Secretary Clinton was personally and criminally responsible for the deaths in Benghazi (along with all the other people she's supposedly had murdered like Seth Rich)?
Please, do go on. I'd like to hear about the time "they" broke the law in order to charge Donald with a crime.
A position that just is not supported by the evidence but then what the heck everyone is entitled to their opinion, opinions are like belly buttons, everyone has one, they are all different, everyone thinks theirs is special and they are all fuzzy at best. Enjoy your free speech since Trump is a public personality you will not be held legally responsible for misstatements or defamation.Actually in America we have freedom of speech and I'm exercising mine by calling Donald out for the serial criminal that he is.
How is Trump undermining our justice system? Has he been harassing judges by marching in front of their homes and chanting slogans that threaten the judges or their families? Has he encouraged someone to kill a Supreme Court Justice? Has he attempted to assassinate the character of a Justice by encouraging false testimony about their high school activities?Good. It would be a sad if you fell for the Trump messaging undermining our justice system (including judges, juries, etc). I hope most Americans believe that all Americans should be held accountable regardless of their station in life.
See post #66It would help to understand what you are talking about if you could give concrete examples.
Now that I can appreciate and it is much more honest than those who continue to pretend that he guilty of some crime, seems that they cannot get what they want so the lie to themselves and others.I hope he will be found guilty. That would make my day.
