Acts 2:29 Men and breathren, let me freely speak unto you of the patriarch David, that he is both dead and buried, and his sepulcher is with us unto this day.....

verse 34 For david has not ascended into the heavens:

How much more proof do you need!!!!!!!1

How does Matt.27:53 "Many bodies of saints who had fallen asleep were raised.
After Jesus' resurrection they came forth from their tombs and entered the holy city and appeared to many."
...fit in with your view ?

where, and in what condition, were their souls from the time they died to this day when they were raised ?

(emphasis added) Why should you still think of the "soul", whatever you want to call it and whatever it really is, as being time-bound? We are bound to experiencing one moment after another sequentially in time only because the physicality of our bodies ties us down to this world in which time indeed passes one moment after another. But time need not be so boring in other worlds... I would wager (though not absolutely sure) that when those saints died so long ago, the next thing they knew they were back in their bodies up and running after Jesus' resurrection and asking "where am I? What time is this?" I don't think they would have perceived the time running between this time and that (for the simple reason that only their bodies were left to time, while their "soul" wasn't), something like "Back To The Future" ... all this is conjecture of course. But to me it seems to be the best way to integrate everything Scripture has to say.

Hello Believers in Christ,

In the story of the thief on the cross it sounds like he is going to paradise that day.
Is this what really happened????????????
Did Jesus tell him he would be with him in heaven(paradise) that day?

Lets take a look;)

If you study the verse carfully that is not what Jesus said...remember in those days there was no punctuation....here is the verse

Luke 23:43 And Jesus said unto him,Verily I say unto thee , Today thou shalt be with me in paradise.

Hmm souds like thats what he is saying, but did Jesus go to paradise that day.
What does the bible say, in the same chapter of Luke(23) and verse 54; And that day(good Friday the day Jesus died)was the preparation, and the sabbath (Saturday) drew on.55;And the woman also, which came with him from Galilee, followed after, and beheld the sepulcher, and how his bodywas laid. 56;And they returned, and prepared spices and ointments; and rested the sabbath day according to the commandment.(Saturday not Sunday)

So Jesus wasn't in paradise that day, he died on good Friday, rested in the tomb on sabbath (Saturday) and rose the 3rd day on Sunday(the 1st day of the week), so how could the thief be with him.

Now on Sunday when Mary went to the tomb to find Jesus and Jesus speaks to her he says in John 20:17 Jesus saith unto her Touch me not;for I am not yet ascended to my father...

This verse proves the thief was not with him in paradise because Jesus himself had not yet ascended..

Remember there was no punctuation in those days so lets read that verse again and move the comma over to it's proper place..

Luke 23:43 And Jesus said unto him,Verily I say unto thee Today, thou shalt be with me in paradise.

What he is saying is that Today I say to you, you will be with me in paradise.

TRUTH Yes or No!!!!!

Well....as you can see from other posts we get into denominational differences/issues....

What about the Trinity? Could Jesus Christ have been speaking of the thief on the cross as going to heaven to be with "me" [God]...

Once again we delve into denominational issues....but it is worth some consideration.

The important thing is that the thief has been saved. We don't really need to know what happens after death so long as we know we are saved and we have a place in the Kingdom of God.
Really, well if there is a Purgatory, which i believe, then the souls there rejoice when we pray for them. So yes, we really need to know the procedure of a saved soul after death if we want to help our Brothers and Sisters in Christ.

I like your perception...
Reminds me of when I "doze off"...when I awake...:o
I insantly wonder "how long was I asleep ? !!!
I either look at the clock...
or at the traffic light, and how many cars are behind me waiting? :D

Sometimes I think death may be like that,,,doze off and wake up in the presence of GOD ! :D
