Hi Christina!!

How's lent going for you.
Hope it's a blessing.

Eastern Lent begins in about 2 weeks, so please pray for me.:)

While they dont have things of the world
to contend with, or sin (that I know of, the devil did
indeed rebel) they arent 'righteous' because of what
they do or dont do, did or didnt do?
We must submit to the Will of God. That's "doing" something that requires much struggle.

our righteousness, through Christ, isnt any less, right?
Our 'sonhood' is complete?
Mine being less than most.

Since God isnt a respecter of persons, I seriously believe
that if I pray , IN FAITH, and pray
what I KNOW to be His will,
that He will indeed hear me,
and that I will indeed have what i desire of Him.
No one has stated anything to the contrary. For me, Sunlover, when my faith is weak, when I have little love, when I am filled with pride . . . I ask those whose faith is greater, whose love is greater, and who are humble, to intercede for me. Why do you think I asked you to pray for me?

Love,
Christina

Yes, it depends on the person's understanding of "righteous."

But even those who are Christian can stand to improve: Galatians 4:6 tells us Christians who have the Spirit are "sons" of God. Yet even God's children still need to be "disciplined" (Heb 12:1-9).

Paul also speaks of "perfecting holiness". (2 Cor 7:1).

So indeed, there are degrees of righteousness, if understood as holiness. :)

Id be happy to pray for ya Christina.

IT sure can.
This week He led me to do some things that were
so out of my comfort zone that I was terrified and
cried like a baby, saying Father, please give me
the grace to do this thing.
Not sure if that's what you meant or not.
I do LOVE to submit though, because I can feel safe
in the knowledge that He's got my future in His hands.

My faith is stronger in the times when I build myself up,
through time in prayer.
I shared those verses because that's what I do lol.
Prayer, and a couple of other things are all I know
about the Bible, so I try to share those things that I
know with others who might be blessed just in case they
hear something they hadnt heard before.

I know what you mean, about sometimes feeling lack
of faith though.
I've been ill today, and normally lead the kids in prayer.
Today my throat hurt so bad, so I said, you guys gotta
do the prayer... I had no gumption, and not much faith.

I think it's wonderful that you can ask others for prayer.

You are a sweetie. :)

BTW, Sunlover, I enjoyed reading this . . .

Sunlover said:
sin breaks fellowship with God, that's why I try to
keep a clean slate and repent and confess.
I never pray with sin between us. Those prayers
would hit the ceiling.
I first ask for His forgiveness for any known or unknown
sin, then we enter His gates with thanksgiving,
then we enter His courts with praise...
Then God leads us in prayer to pray for what is in
His heart, the Holy Spirit all the while helping us
to pray because we know not what we aught.

Christina

:holy: Not. I always think of Abraham and Noah when I think of perfect Faith.

Not only "more" Faith, but "more" Love, Humility, Meekness, Obedience, ect. It is a constant dying to self and living Christ.

For the rest of eternity we will spend ascending towards Christ. This ascension begins at baptism and is eternal.

Union with God is the goal (theosis). You believe you have been saved. I believe this also and am being and will. It is eternal.

Love,
Christina

Hey Sunlover,
the way I see it, yes all our righteousness comes from Christ and never from us...even when we do good works, that is Him working in us...so we can't even claim our good works as ours. In the end, all good things belong to God
But the saints who really lived for God...who did a lot for Him...they accepted grace better and were more obedient and submitted to God...and thus, Christ's righteousness became more a part of them. We're all on the journey of becoming more like Him, and they are closer to the 'finish line'.

The great saints "magnified the Lord" by becoming less and less themselves..dying to self..and letting God reign in them and shine His light through them.. I still have lots of pride and 'self' and aren't as submitted to God as they are...that is why I ask them for prayers :)

I know that God loves us all the same though, and hears ALL our prayers  our God is great!! That He would love me as much as Abraham or Apostle Paul, wow.

CS Lewis once said:
"A blessed spirit is a mould ever more and more patient of the bright metal poured into it, a body ever more completely uncovered to the meridian blaze of the spiritual sun."

That is sort of what I'm trying to say :) lol Lewis says it better though.

God bless

:) thanks

I think a lot of the time when people say that Catholics, Orthodox, etc believe in salvation by works, that's a misunderstanding of how we view good works...well I can't speak for everyone, but to me, good works is not something I do for God to earn His favour. They're a result of me being open to grace...in a way, they're also a sign of 'dying to self' because one has to do this to let God work through them.
All this requires our cooperation because God would not force us to submit to His will. But if we do, He'll do the rest  In the end, it's like we're becoming more and more filled with light...that is why they say that we are saved, and we're being saved, and we will be saved. I can't say that I am "finished" if I am still living for myself, because that means that God doesn't have all of me yet...once ALL my actions are His and not my own...then I will be complete.

God bless

Wooooo Hooooooo!
Cooperation, good word.
Weve been studying "God helping us" for the past
few weeks. I'm trying to drill it into their heads and
mine, that anything we want to attempt will only
be successful if we have "God helping us"
Pastor was talking of the difference between the good
Kings and the evil kings in the OT.
The Good kings always had this written about them.
"And God was with Him"

that is why they say that we are saved, and we're being saved, and we will be saved. I can't say that I am "finished" if I am still living for myself, because that means that God doesn't have all of me yet...once ALL my actions are His and not my own...then I will be complete.

Yeah it can all get a bit confusing when we read the Bible, cant it?
And then there are so many who are just
sure they have all the answers,
but some things even the ECF
couldnt agree on
because God is SO complex and we have only our
tiny bank of understanding and experience to try to
understand Him. So we see in part for now.

Ya know, I drink SO little caffeine,
dunno what causes me to get so long winded.
In person I mostly just sit and smile and nod LOL.
Must be it's just so nice to connect with others who
are like minded.

So forgive my rattling. :sorry:

Yes, we are so blessed sister!!
:amen:

IN an other thread, I was told that God hears the "Saints"
'prayers' because they're more righteous, already being
in Heaven (if that's where they are).

Does God prefer them over us?
Is He a respecter of WHERE one of His kids
is standing, or/and just how righteous are we?

I didtn put this in the mariology folder because it's
about righteousness, but it can be moved there
depending on what people decide to fight about.
:D

Fight nice men, k?

Thanks,
sunlover
First you have to read your Bible and find out what it teaches. You as well as me our saints, if we have been born again and received the Holy Spirit. God is no respecter of persons. We are not accepted because of our righteousness. This is basic.
