First you have to read your Bible and find out what it teaches. You as well as me our saints, if we have been born again and received the Holy Spirit. God is no respecter of persons. We are not accepted because of our righteousness. This is basic.

God accepts as we are, as unrighteous sinners, but He doesn't want us to stay that way ;)
He loves us too much to let us stay in all that darkness.

Wooooo Hooooooo!
Cooperation, good word.
Weve been studying "God helping us" for the past
few weeks. I'm trying to drill it into their heads and
mine, that anything we want to attempt will only
be successful if we have "God helping us"
Pastor was talking of the difference between the good
Kings and the evil kings in the OT.
The Good kings always had this written about them.
"And God was with Him"

Very true!! we can't do anything without the Lord helping us.

Yeah it can all get a bit confusing when we read the Bible, cant it?
And then there are so many who are just
sure they have all the answers,
but some things even the ECF
couldnt agree on
because God is SO complex and we have only our
tiny bank of understanding and experience to try to
understand Him. So we see in part for now.

For sure! We see in part...but one day, we shall see clearly  can't wait for that day LOL! But I'm thankful for how it's like now too because not understanding anything helps me trust God...lol...if I knew everything wow I'd be even more proud

Ya know, I drink SO little caffeine,
dunno what causes me to get so long winded.
In person I mostly just sit and smile and nod LOL.
Must be it's just so nice to connect with others who
are like minded.

I drink caffeine :sorry: heehee... don't worry about being long winded though!
So forgive my rattling.
Nothing to forgive!

Yes, we are so blessed sister!!

AMEN.

He does doesnt he?
1 I am the rose of Sharon, and the lily of the valleys.
2 As the lily among thorns, so is my love among the daughters.
3 As the apple tree among the trees of the wood, so is my beloved among the sons.
I sat down under his shadow with great delight, and his fruit was sweet to my taste.
4 He brought me to the banqueting house, and his banner over me was love.
5 Stay me with flagons, comfort me with apples: for I am sick of love.
6 His left hand is under my head, and his right hand doth embrace me.
7 I charge you, O ye daughters of Jerusalem, by the roes, and by the hinds of the field,
that ye stir not up, nor awake my love, till he please.

I've never heard anything so ridiculous in my entire life. Where did you get such obvious heresy from?;)

Sunlover,

I lost my mother to cancer this summer. Thank you, though, for your thoughts.

Love,
Christina
I"m so sorry.
For some reason I thought she beat it.
Forgive me.

I am familiar with that loss.

Dead saints can't pray, because they're dead.

That means they are not in heaven... they are in the grave, waiting for the second coming of Christ, who will give them the gift of eternal life at the resurrection.
Nobody's dead after they pass on from here, Earth.

That's because you look at everything through the Bible. Nothing else. There is more to being a Christian than the Bible. The Bible is part of it. There are things that happened and are believed that are not explained in the Bible, as I'm sure you know.

Anyway, I don't know why anybody bothers. The Orthodox are going to believe it's fine to ask Saints to pray for them and with them to God, and other Christian faiths that don't. Oh well.

Uh, oh. That almost sounds like it's a bad thing, or not "good enough" thang...
Nothing else. There is more to being a Christian than the Bible. The Bible is part of it.
It is the part by which all else is calibrated. It is the part by which all else is made sense or nonsense of. It is the mission essential, the indispensible part.

There are things that happened and are believed that are not explained in the Bible, as I'm sure you know.
Believing something happened is qualitatively different than what meaning that something having happened holds for our faith. I believe something supernatural happened at Fatima, for instance.

Anyway, I don't know why anybody bothers. The Orthodox are going to believe it's fine to ask Saints to pray for them and with them to God, and other Christian faiths that don't. Oh well.
The reason we bother is... well,... to us people who only see things thru the bible, it's like like watching your favorite cousin sleepwalking toward a cliff with a beatific smile on his somnambulant face.

Yes, I know, Rick. You and many others have your reasons why believe a certain way. And I (and other Orthodox) have their beliefs. Having the same conversations over and over again isn't going to change anybody's minds. That's all I'm saying.

And why, oh why, would you think we're sleepwalking, when we're in Christ??? Come on now, Rick - do you really think we're mindlessly sleepwalking, because we look to the Church. Scripture, and Tradition to make sure we stay in Christ, instead of "only" Scripture (which is really impossible anyway)? There are plenty of "strange Gospels" out there, but I know as long as I *mindfully* follow in the footsteps of those who have walked this path before me, I remain in Christ.

Except for when their paths have added footsteps needlessly, and often unbiblically.

His Word is a lamp unto our feet and path....not the flashlights of other men.

Yes, but you're making the mistake of thinking that you are walking "only" the path of Scripture. What you are walking is the path of "your interpretation of Scripture". Every Christian, regardless of denominational affiliation, or no affiliation, interprets Scripture through one lens or another.

“Thus says the Lord, ‘Stand by the ways and see and ask for the ancient paths, where the good way is, and walk in it; and you shall find rest for your souls.’ But they said, `We will not walk in it.’” Jeremiah 6:16

When you go by Scripture only for all things, you may as well cut your tongue, pull out your eyes and give yourself a lobotomy since you are limiting yourself that much.

Still no biblical basis, or examples, have been offered of saints on earth being able to communicate with a saint in Heaven.
What about the Transfiguration?
