Yes, that's a good way to put it,,,, that is still going on.

The only way to find the truth and be deceived no more , by yourself or anyone, is in Jesus, by God's Grace, if you actually desire to find the Truth(Jesus), and keep looking / desiring/ seeking Him , with a view to change you life entirely.

That is not true. I know because I used to be Christian based on what other people told me. When I made an honest search for myself I found out what people told me was untrue. So all of your preaching, and all of your unsubstantiated claims, will not work on me because not only have I heard them before, and I’ve spent many years putting them into action; so I now know the truth.

does not depend at all on what people say,
but on the Will of God. "You must be born again, NOT by the will (or ways) of man, nor of the flesh, but by the Will of God from Heaven" ....

you seem to have just welcomed the friendship of people,
not truly knowing at all what God demands.

When you searched for the truth, you accepted something false, that exposed the hypocrisy/deception of the people you had already, previously trusted.

This was one of two things needed to ever know the truth.

All men are liars. Had to accept this, or never would have made it.

God is faithful and true, only God can save anyone. Gladly received this Word , and it has made all the difference all my life !

After knowing that all men are liars, it becomes possible to learn the truth. Not necessary (even God will not force you), but at least possible. As even the Apostles said, whatever you are told, even if by an Apostle, or a so-called angel of LIGHT, TEST EVERYTHING ! TEST< TEST< TEST

and then, IF you care to seek the Truth, and keep seeking the Truth, you will know the Truth, and the Truth will set you free ...... (from religion, finance, warfare, violence, the devil, the flesh, the world's power over you, all deception)
