and if you had your cell phone with you they can find you yet!

Toilet paper. Nope. I'm switching to germicidal hand cleansing wipes... no reason for more than one product...unless you buy RV type paper that disintegrates. I've found >blush< that the wipes cut any smell plus dry more quickly than regular paper---and that they burn well. (Being part Polish I can tell this joke that comes to mind?: how can you tell you're in a Polish neighborhood? By the toilet paper drying on the lines.) Maybe it is true lol
Yep no cell phones allowed at my cave :] I figure by the time I need it, I wont have use for a phone anyway lol

Today errrr yesterday (it's 2:45 am) I put my camp tools (hatchet, knife, etc) with my crank radio and crank flashlight and put them into my CERT BOB. I also began dehydrating foods (see thread) for storage.

Might wanna add WD40 and duck tape to your BOB, there is nothing those two gifts of God cannot fix lol.

Yes, I am currently a CERT team leader (soon to quit since I'm going off grid)... the BOB CERT bag has those fancy 20 way tools and real duct tape and hard hats, gloves, etc. I will add some spray lube but not WD 40 I'm afraid, that stuff attracts dirt like crazy I've found. Thanks for the idea.

I added my items to it. Going to add some of my dehydrated foods too, once I'm done dehydrating them lol. Oh THAT'S where I can put one of my (Brita?) filter water bottles (bpa free)! Good thinking!

Seriously duct tape ignites and holds flames very well and wd40 also helps arthritis. I know from experience . Congrats on going off grid. I wanna build in a cave but haven't figured out how yet lol

Hmmm BUILD a cave? You might need God for that ;)

Missouri has lots of them btw, caves that is...that you could build out.

Guess you could begin with a pro/con list or one of wants vs needs? Do you want a large or small cave. What are the advantages to either, disavantages... do you want one way off the road or something nearby where you can "sneak" into a small town from time to time, or get away fast via a good road? Stuff like that.

Modern science has proven that we receive what we meditate about... Bible says that already ;) Thoughts create. You won't get your cave until you define what you want, visualize it and pray for it and expect to find it, imo.

Yes I live right on the border of Mo, and I know of several caves and would love one with a spring in it to fix up. There are some nice ones that people have built online.
The temp stays the same pretty much year around. Bomb shelter, Tornado shelter, and other good reasons. I just think it would be cool to have :]

Well I'd be sure to put your cave on my path of travel! :D Thing about MO caves (and most I guess?) they do flood. I'd be sure to put a sunroof in one... that you can pop out if caught inside in flooding... and maybe an inflatable canoe?

Lol I guess that true, However we have some up on the bluffs that would be perfect. The advantage of being just above fish filled waters and at an elevation that you could see the surrounding area from your perch. No one could sneak up on ya :]

lol no roof rack ... yet? If I want a side shade later on, it has to be off the side of a roof rack. Or if I put solar panels up... Ford limits what and how goes on roof. I've hit that limit. The genset is under with it's own agm for starting I have 2 agm 60 ah batts under driver seat with outlets and 12v too inside... I did go with an Ikea mini kitchen set up, complete with small refrigerator... and sink which I don't plan to put running water into it but did fix up the grey water drain. As long as I don't have full kitchen and bath, the insurance company doesn't insist upon RV insurance. " It is a commercial van for personal use."
Being 21' long, the back living errr cargo area is 14' by 6" by 6'8" which is really a 10 x 10 room. I put the bed up on the ceiling on pulleys, but might leave it down and use under for more storage though I have two bench seats in back with full storage... and a custom built pull out bench seat where the dog and I sit at the slider door and watch the world go by...and sunsets! :D

This is awesome and you have me looking online at options for a mobile BOV..
Would you post pics of your setup? I have a solar setup with three marine batts and I cannot remember the watts on the panels but I haven't installed them yet so they are still in the box.
I live really close to the lake so I wonder about the houseboat option as well. It would seem worthy to motor to an island???
