Datan, I am most certainly the envious one.

theres nothing christian rock about the fly
Oh yes there is. It's not what we think of when we think of Christian rock, but it's definitely a Christian song. It was inspired by C. S. Lewis's The Screwtape Letters, and is essentially a phone call from Hell. Bono once said the whole alterego of The Fly was based on the Bible passage "mock the devil and he will flee from you."

but you could not argue that bullet the blue sky was a christian rock song
Of course not. One thing U2 is, is political rock. Bullet The Blue Sky is one of the best political songs of the last two decades. The following I consider to be U2's best political songs: Sunday Bloody Sunday, Bullet The Blue Sky, Red Hill Mining Town, In God's Country, Heartland, Love Is Blindness.

there more of a voice to people who believe in many different values
Very true.

and besides the fact that larry mullen junior and clayton are the best rhythm section in rock and roll they are just a great band. and i dont know if you agree, but i think trying to label them anything other than that is a waste of time and energy.
I don't think they can be labelled as being in one particular genre either, especially not with a catalogue of material that's as varied as Tomorrow and Lemon. "We don't make old music or new music, we make U2 music" - Bono, 1983. So true. By the way, love the screen name!

Ooops, didn't add this to the last post. Indigo Tree, U2's already played the Arco Arena twice, so I think it's a safe bet to say U2 will play there if they do an arena tour. Here's the setlists from the two concerts. Thanks to Elevation-Tour.com for this.

Tour: ZooTV, first leg
Date: 17 April 1992
Setlist: Zoo Station
The Fly
Even Better Than The Real Thing
Mysterious Ways
One
Until The End Of The World
Who's Gonna Ride Your Wild Horses
Tryin' To Throw Your Arms Around The World
Angel Of Harlem
Dancing Queen
Satellite Of Love
Bad
All I Want Is You
Bullet The Blue Sky
Running To Stand Still
Where The Streets Have No Name
Pride (In The Name Of Love)
I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For
Encore: With Or Without You
Love Is Blindness

Surprisingly short encore, maybe the site's wrong. Very odd it doesn't have Desire and Ultra Violet. I might check U2Tours.com, they're more reliable for setlists but aren't as well organised as Elevation-Tour.com.

Tour: Elevation, third leg
Date: 20 November 2001
Setlist: Elevation
Beautiful Day
Until The End Of The World
Mysterious Ways
I Will Follow
Sunday Bloody Sunday
Stuck In A Moment You Can't Get Out Of
Kite
Angel Of Harlem
Please
Bad --> Norwegian Wood --> Who's Gonna Ride Your Wild Horses
Where The Streets Have No Name
I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For --> Stand By Me
Pride (In The Name Of Love)
Encore: Bullet The Blue Sky
What's Going On
New York
One
Peace On Earth
Walk On --> Hallelujah

Haven't seen the movie myself, and I've heard varying things about it. Some people say it's an arthouse masterpiece, other people say it's a pile of rubbish. Bono makes a cameo appearance at one point, and I understand he co-authored it with Wim Wenders. As a note of trivia, Wenders made two movies with the same name as U2 songs: Until The End Of The World and Stay (Faraway, So Close!).

Thanks Andre for the setlists , I really appreciate it! I was almost sure they had perfomed there. Heres to hoping they do an arena tour!

I just did a check, U2Tours.com doesn't note Desire or Ultra Violet, but a fan review states "I am sure Desire was played" or something to that effect.

I was referring to post #445. It was posted by DMBfanLongliveStrongBad! and consists of a single blue full stop.

Only a zero away!

On a U2 note, I've just fallen in love with ZooTV Live In Sydney. "I can't help falling in love with yoooouuu ..." I love Bono's falsetto. But this is the best bit;

"Looove, it won't last kissin-" KABOOM!

All of you who have that tape know that's from the end of Dirty Day, when Edge rips into Bullet The Blue Sky. It's like a frigging explosion. KABOOM!

I don't see why they have to be re-born. What's the difference between a saved Christian and a saved re-born Christian? The members of U2 have never publicly detailed their faith because they believe it to be a private matter between themselves and God. I think it's a bit rude to hammer them with questions. Bono, Edge, and Larry all say they're saved, so who are we to question that?

Indigo Tree, under normal circumstances, I'd say New Year's Day, but I've just totally fallen for the live Dirty Day on ZooTV Live In Sydney. Gah, awesomeness. It's such a shame it was only played a few times, that song ROCKED.

And because it probably won't get any loving, here's a positive mention for the coolness of Some Days Are Better Than Others.

Oh, you forgot Night And Day. Hm ... are there any more?

Indeed. What did Bono once call the Edge, a "Zen presbyterian" or something like that? There's stuff that Bono says that indicates that God's an important aspect of his life, and I don't doubt it.

As for days, I think Beautiful Day's almost like a secular P&W song, particularly that chorus. And is my favourite day. :)
