A lot of Popmart songs had very different feels to them - I Will Follow is a very notable one, I didn't like it when I first heard the distortion running on it, but now I love it. Discotheque Elevation is better than MOST Popmart performances, but I reckon the performances at Mannheim and Sarajevo are just amazing. Edge's grinding, screaming guitar is just amazing. On Bullet on 5 March 1992, Bono starts screaming "shut the f*** up" at the end, it's very aggressive. Accentuates the flow into RTSS very nicely.
Yeah...I love the Mannheim Discotheque, mostly the end when he sings A whole lotta love, It has the most trippy ending. OK I'm downloading Bullet from 5 March 1992, now.

You need to get the full Denver bootleg - it's so much better than the UABRS video! There's footage of most of the songs not on UABRS, I have poor quality WMV files of most of them. I Fall Down is the only song for which no footage exists. I just finished downloading a DVD of 20 August 1983, St Goarshaussen, the concert that supplied tracks 3 and 5-8 on the UABRS CD, and WOW! AMAZING! I love it! I'd say it's better quality than the official release. I ramble on about it in my latest LiveJournal entry. I hear the 7CD Axtung Beibi Out-takes just includes more instrumental stuff. Should be interesting.

I just downloaded the Denver show and It is from the video :sigh: I guess I'll just have to download it from somewhere else. I'm going to download the 1982 Werchter, Belgium show on SHN next. The Axtung Beibi Out-takes is 2.5 Gig so I'll be downloading that for a while! And I think the sao-paulo DVD Is a about 10 Gig I'm only half way. It's starting to irritate me that most people on the hub share mostly mp3's and hardly any shn's, There are so many shows on SHN and the quality is far better, the quality is so much better. I don't know...

I haven't read your live journal yet. I assume It will consist of mostly, if not all U2 ramblings.hehe

I like your second last setlist the best, It rocks! as long as it has Streets over Tomorow.

Here Is mine.

1.POP muzik
2.Mofo
3.Until the end of the world
4.Discotheque (elevation style)
5.Lady with the spinning head (exended)
6.The fly
7.I will follow
8.Elevation
9.Beautiful day
10.Angel of Harlem
11.Stay
12.Running to stand still
13.Sunday bloody Sunday acustic

14.Bullet
15.Please
16.Streets
17. Ultra voilet (light my way)
18. Mysterious ways

Yeah, it's such an awesome ending! I'm listening to it right now. BOOM-CHA, DISCOTHEQUE! I love to crank this right up! Woooo! There's another really cool Discotheque with Whole Lotta Love, but I can't remember which it is now. I think it's a European one ... I'll have to track it down. And tell me what you think of that version of Bullet.

I just downloaded the Denver show and It is from the video :sigh: I guess I'll just have to download it from somewhere else.
That stinks. If you want MP3s, I put them on the FTP, but I know what you mean about SHN shows being so much better. I'm now trying to replace my collection of MP3 concerts, I only list SHN/WAV/VCD shows on my website and when I figure out how to burn them, DVDs too. But blank DVDs are a flaming ripoff. That Werchter show should be cool, I might have MP3s of that one. I think most people just want MP3 shows because they're quicker. Impatience, I suppose.

I don't really live out my don't-use-MP3s attitude, though. Just last night I downloaded MP3s of the Contract Demos (I was trying to get SHNs but it just wouldn't bit torrent), and WOW, that is SO COOL. The Fool is such an awesome song, and ... eeee, I love it. Baby U2! I dedicated half today's LiveJournal post to it. The fool has found the golden key ...

I haven't read your live journal yet. I assume It will consist of mostly, if not all U2 ramblings.hehe
Hehe, yeah, I think most of it's on U2. I stick to one topic! One track mind, see!

I like your second last setlist the best, It rocks! as long as it has Streets over Tomorow.
Coolness, thanks. I personally have become very fond of the Please --> Tomorrow link that I've devised, but Streets we all know works very well. With yours, I rather like the intro, but I'd split the encore into two. It seems a tad on the long side. Maybe swap Mysterious Ways and WOWY and put the break between them?

Thats what I thought. I have the 3rd largest SHN collection on the hub, and hardly anyone is interested in them. I once put up some Mp3's and I had people downloading off me all the time, most people there have one or two shn's though. [bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse]! I forgot to tell you, I just saw the warsaw show on the hub a few days ago In WAV, he was making a big deal about in the chat room, So I went to download It. I only downloaded 2.78 meg which is 16 seconds of Popmuzik, It sounded better that I expected, like the sarejevo vcd, I'll download some more when he comes back, or if he comes back. It's good to see you are going to get rid of your mp3's, for better quality shn, I'm thinking of deleting all my Mp3 shows from Popmart and every other tour, because I hardly listen to them and they take up a little space. I currntly have exactly 50 Gigs of shn, and I am proud of my collection. I just found a supposably very rare studio rehearsals for the Elevation tour consisting of three tracks, I downloaded last night.

1.Beautiful Day
2.Stuck in a Moment You Can't Get Out Of
3.Elevation

The sound quality is absolutely outstanding! As they are straight from DAT master to CDR to SHN and there Is no crowd noise as they are straight from the studio. This Is now my most prized U2 item. Want me to upload them? It's only a 100 meg.

I also downloaded the East Rutherford, June 1, 1997 show which Is a soundboard and It sounds cool.

Now am I obsessed with shn or what? :D

OK I'm trying to get into their older stuff I downloaded the Los Angeles, CA November 28, 1981 show on shn and it's a sounboard. Brilliant show! I had goosebumbs {giggles}. I'm going to download some more of their earlier soundboard stuff. I thought I saw the Contract Demos on the hub too. Where did you see them on BT? The Fool? I've never heard of that song.. (funny name) But you know more about U2 than me.

Yeah..It's a Good Idea to shorten the encore, Though if It was up to me to make the setlist, the show would go for about 4 hours! Our boys would be worn out. the Please --> Tomorrow link I'm not aware of that, because I still haven't had a good listen to Tomorrow yet. There are still heaps of old U2 I haven't heard yet.

Off with the horns, on with the show....I'm tired and i want to go to bed...

Congrats Doctor Vox, hehe.;)

Thanks for the link for Bullet Andre-I'll be sure to check it out!

I hope when the boys start doing the american tour for their next album that they'll stop by the Arco in Sacramento. It's the closest they'll be playing to where I live. If not then I'll catch them in Portland at the Rose Garden. My aunt lives up there.

Hi Indigo Tree

It's cool that you live in the US, If I was you I would go to both shows :) So what is the Acro, is that a stadium or arena?

I'd imagine the picture's from when he spoke to the graduating class at the University of Pennsylvania. How I wish I'd been there! It's a really cool picture too.

Yeah, isn't it so cool? I love it, they put on a really fiery performance that night!

I have the 3rd largest SHN collection on the hub, and hardly anyone is interested in them.
Wow, that's just sad. Maybe I'll have to get on there sometime and download off you! Hehe. In five weeks perhaps, when holidays roll around. I don't have time to learn all the hub stuff now. So much work, bah!

I forgot to tell you, I just saw the warsaw show on the hub a few days ago In WAV, he was making a big deal about in the chat room, So I went to download It. ARE YOU FREAKIN' SERIOUS? HE BETTER BLOODY COME BACK! WARSAWWARSAWWARSAW! In WAV? That's interesting, I thought he would've at least put it in SHN. I hope the better-than-expected quality keeps up for the rest of the show. Wow, that's so cool.

I'm thinking of deleting all my Mp3 shows from Popmart and every other tour, because I hardly listen to them and they take up a little space.
I'm not sure what I'm going to do with mine. I'm burning them onto data CD now. I don't see what the harm of keeping them in backup or on an old hard drive would do.

I just found a supposably very rare studio rehearsals for the Elevation tour consisting of three tracks, I downloaded last night.

1.Beautiful Day
2.Stuck in a Moment You Can't Get Out Of
3.Elevation

Oooh wow, that sounds very awesome! Please do upload that, I'd love it! I'm wondering, is there anything from my collection you're interested in? I could convert any of my audio bootlegs at www.geocities.com/u2axver into SHN and upload them - I don't imagine ZooTV Auckland and Christchurch are easily found, they'd be the two I imagine you might have an interest in.

Now am I obsessed with shn or what? :D
Hehe! And there's no problem with that!

I really love their older stuff, that's cool you're getting some of it. I'm particularly keen on anything pre-UF because then it really was just four men with no effects whatsoever. A really pure sound, and that's what I go for. I think I was on the ElevaSHN list of all U2 BTs and tried to download it. It just couldn't connect for some reason. The Fool is one of U2's earliest songs, from 1978 I understand, and arguably their best unreleased song (right up there with My Time Hasn't Come and Take You Down in my opinion). I posted the lyrics on my LJ, it's a great song.

Though if It was up to me to make the setlist, the show would go for about 4 hours! Our boys would be worn out.
Hehe, so true. I think my setlists are too long when it comes to the realism department, but far too short when it comes to how long they SHOULD be! I remember someone on Interference making a thread asking us to devise a fifty-song setlist - that was a FUN challenge!

the Please --> Tomorrow link I'm not aware of that, because I still haven't had a good listen to Tomorrow yet. There are still heaps of old U2 I haven't heard yet.
Ah, I see. My faovurite live Tomorrow is 17 March 1982, New York, the first ever performance. I just think it would flow well with Please. Never going to happen though.

hey, im a pretty massive u2 fan myself. happen to think that labelling them christian rock is a shade ridiculous as theres nothing christian rock about the fly, although tracks like pride, gloria and until the end of the world, do display some elements of christianity, but you could not argue that bullet the blue sky was a christian rock song, there more of a voice to people who believe in many different values, and besides the fact that larry mullen junior and clayton are the best rhythm section in rock and roll they are just a great band. and i dont know if you agree, but i think trying to label them anything other than that is a waste of time and energy.

I'm part of the graduating class of Penn and I was there :)

Honestly, though, Id never heard of him before, and I had to ask around who he was.

My impression of him is that he has a pretty good sense of humour and rather self-effacing. He kept going on and on about how he didn't really deserve the honorary degree, and was the faculty sure they didn't want to give him a lower degree?

Axver, our resident U2 guru, would say you're so lucky, then do a big speech of his own about who Bono is. Just hope that what he's said in this thread already is enough for him not to. :)

Wow datan, thats incredible. Consider yourself lucky. You just saw one of the world's most celebrated rockstar and humanitarian.

theres nothing christian rock about the fly
Thats debatable. You have to be careful, because U2's lyrics will try to trick you into thinking that a song is about one thing, when it's really about another. I don't think I would have ever guessed that Until the End of the World had anything to do with Judas Iscariot and Jesus if someone hadn't told me. I'm not entirely sure about what "The Fly" is about myself, but I certainly wouldn't excuse it as a non-christian song.

I thought you lived in the us janine? Yeah, it'd be great if one of you guys was with me (I don't know anyone else outside the net who loves U2.))
Anyway, The Arco Arena is a arena. Its the home of the Sacramento Kings(if that important at all).
