Saddam isn't even in the same ORBIT as Hitler or Stalin. Of course, since he was murdered, we will never know the number of deaths he was responsible for. Estimates vary from 300,000 - 800,000 but was only found guilty of 148 murders.

And no, he didn't do it to himself. Yes, he was a willing puppet, but others were pulling the strings.

I will tell you. If the North American Union has a constitution that stays the same as todays than I won't be concerned. But if it evolves into less religious freedoms or takes away the parents right to raise their children then its a problem.

For example, in a certain part of germany parents got their kid taken away for homeschooling. Why is this? Here is an article on this:

hahahahahaaha. Ok, and to get rid of illegal killings . . . just make them legal!

    Exactly.

As Jesus said, "sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof". Let's wait and see just how evil the NAU is before we start calling it evil.

Yes, lets just wait - no. Lets just look and watch - be a watchmen on the wall before there is a trend. Waiting is never an answer. The U.S. has waited and nobody has paid any attention and now they want a merger.

My mission in life isn't to wait and see to watch the evil one get worse - but to stop him in his tracks. Because his mission to to steal, kill and destroy.

I still haven't seen any credible evidence that a "merger" is being advocated by anyone of importance.

And you feel that an NAU, if it becomes a reality, must be demonic?

Ummm...you do realize it is the USA that is pushing for this, right? And that they want an economic merger for the free flow of capital and goods, but not people?

The merger will not be anything obvious until it is a done deal.

Correction. It is the elites in the US, Canada and Mexico that are pushing for it. Not the people. We don't want it. You're woefully naive if you think we want any kind of union whatsoever with Canada.

Don't worry. Most Americans would rather see a wall be built between the US and Canada than see a merger happen. We'd sooner integrate with Mexico.

If that were to happen, we'd enjoy watching your economy (which is less than a tenth the size of ours) collapse faster than a house of cards. But again, don't worry. I'm sure China and Russia would quickly step in to fill the void. ;)

    Ahh, one can dream, right?

You are delusional. Canada is you're # 1 supplier of oil, natural gas and uranium. In addition our vast hydroelectric projects power half the US. Go ahead, build a wall. You'll be in the dark 2 seconds after.

    Aggh. Ignorance really irks me.

It's entirely the other way around. If we decided to cut off all trade you'd have no choice but to invade. Otherwise you'd be a third world nation in days.

Unlike you, that's not something I'm dreaming of. I consider Americans to be brothers and sisters.

I would rather be connected to Canada than Mexico any day. Mexico has drug cartels running their government so we don't need to be bothered with them!!

You claim anybody of importance? Ok, I guess the Council in Foreign Relations and the Representative of Virginia arn't important and/or a 59 page government document discussing this? Did you read any of my articles on Page 1?

I don't know what your definition of importance is, but government documents are not cartoons. The evidence speaks for itself. I'm just the messenger and I'm not going to even debate about this. I find it absurd to do so.

From one of the few wikipedia articles I've seen with decent citations.

"Despite these differences, Canada is by far the United States' largest trading partner, with more than $1.7 billion CAD in trade per day in 2005. This relationship represents 81% of exports and 67% of imports for Canada, [3] and 23% of exports and 17% of imports for the United States[4]. "

I think a sudden cut off in trade would be disastrous for both of our countries. :)

 I'm a bit surprised by how many people in Canada(not directed at you, Avatar, just something I've seen elsewhere) and the U.S. have such a dim view of eachother. We're a lot more similiar to eachother politically and economically than either of us is to most countries in, say, Europe. But perhaps it's only us nerdy International Relations majors know it. :sorry:

Very few people want a merger in the U.S. I know a variety of people religious and not religious and they don't want it! So, he is smoking blazen reality.

I totally agree. The average American and the average Canadian are indistiguishable. I have a lot of family in the US. And many Americans have family here. There is little difference between the common person. Differences in politics? Sure. But essentially we're family, not just friends. I understand why some Americans don't feel that way, they know little about their northern neighbor. And the little they know is by right-wing idealogues who essentially call us a socialist state. The Canadians who have a dim view of the US have no excuse. They're exhibiting willful ignorance, because your media inundates us daily. We know everything about you. While most like me dislike your current administration, they also know half of you don't support it. I suspect a lot of Canadians denigrate the US because they are striving desperately to be something different, anything different. The simple truth that we are family, they think, diminishes our country as an independant nation.

Its all foolishness really. And I hope to see the end of it in my lifetime.

My post was directed to his comment that most Americans would rather merge with Mexico than have anything to do with Canada. To that I say he's thinking crazy.

As to the general populous wanting a merger, well of course they don't!

The Council on Foreign Relations has hundreds of members. Just because one or a dozen of them wrote a paper, doesn't mean every member subscribes to the opinions therein. There are members of the US Congress who like boys, but that doesn't mean they all do.
