  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Schools in minority districts should reduce their crime rates and use the money saved for education.

If those schools are underfunded they can't afford better teachers. Also, undereducated teachers shouldn't be teaching courses that neither they or their students understand. Curricula should be designed for the ability of both teachers and students.

Minorities (blacks) chose the primrose path themselves after the Civil Rights Acts of the 1960's. They are still choosing it today. They can turn it around anytime they wish to.

Wow that just just complete backwards thinking. You expect the minorities to stop crime, but are whining about the things like education and better pay that would help get them away from that. You see generations of people watching parents work two three jobs to barely get by while killing themselves and wonder why they think doing crime pays better.

Sounds like you are justifying black crime.

Sounds like you are justifying black crime.

Sounds like your blaming the lack of education standards and quality on minorities. Wich is just disgusting, the children are not at fault for the crime of the few around them or their parents. You want to fix poverty and crime you help lift them out of it. Funny how no matter the ethnicity crime correlates heavily to poverty, almost as if having no hope of ever getting out of being poor means other ways of making money are more enticing.

Why spend 40 years killing yourself every day for a job that will just leave you and your family barley living, when selling drugs can get you more money in a year, then you wold your entire lifetime?

I'm not justifying crime I'm stating facts. If you were not so anti helping people live you would see that.

I'm just pointing out the reality, you give people no way to get out of terrible situations and they will find other means. is it better to blame crime on people being poor, or do what the right does often, and just say that blacks are more violent and likely to be criminals because it's who they are?

But they do have a way out, have had since the 1960's. They just haven't taken advantage of the the opportunities they have. As I have often stated the ball is their court, their future is their hands, not ours.

Or maybe many of them have taken advantage of opportunities, but because of the long history of systemic racism in this country, they still consistently earn less and see fewer opportunities than us white folk.

No. It's not zero sum. Part of the problem is that we see it as zero sum.

Public schools are not adequately funded; particularly in minority districts (such a coincidence, right?). Teachers are underpaid, underappreciated, and undersupplied. The modern way we have to solve this problem is to force teachers to test to stupid standardized testing and beating up on them because of funding issues.

For 40 years we've been led down the primrose path of cutting our way to better government. It doesn't work that way, and it never has. If you want responsive government that has great services for people, you have to fund it adequately.
Ringo
The infrastructure is bad in these schools, too--crumbling buildings, lack of computers, lab supplies and equipment, etc.

There is a growing black middle class, who have the ability to raise the whole black community. They just haven't gotten around to doing it.

So-called systemic racism isn't their biggest problem.

You can't say they have opportunities in one breath, and in another blame them for the lack of funding for education. EQUAL opportunities is what would help them, not racist limited opportunities based on their actions due to being poor.

I love how the right whines about crime, or abortion, or other issues, and instead of fixing the problem with real solutions spends the entire time blaming the victims and standing in the way of solutions.,

I can't be less hard on them than I am on myself. I don't blame others for my mistakes and failures to take advantage of opportunities.

Starting now, their future is either in their hands, or in our hands. Which do you think it is?

We have been building toward a successful society for thousands of years. They have some catching up to do. The nice thing is that it will be easier for them than it was for us as they can access our knowledge concerning such things. I'm sure they'll get down to business eventually.

It's in all of our hands or we won't solve it.

Americans won't take the jobs.
A hundred years ago, Eugene Debs & Samuel Gompers organized American workers -- in the names of Karl Marx, Rosa Luxemburg, and Leon Bronstein ("Trotsky") -- to strike 30,000 times in the 30 years of the "Gilded Age" (1870-1900).

3 new strikes starting each day (4 each work day) for 2 generations is credited with "winning" American workers the 40-hour 5 day work week, weekends, etc.

Is that Socialism?

B/c today's "Identity Socialism" and its "Critical Race Theory" says all of those workers are now all racially white "entitled" European capitalist imperialist fascist anti-Semites.

Them not giving up the gains they struggled for... in the names of Marx, Luxemburg, Gompers, Debs... is now dubbed "anti-Semitic fascist imperialism"... by workers "willing to work for less", i.e. willing to do what Eugene Debs would have called "strike breaking"

So who are really the Socialists?

Very popular to point out the "contradictions in Capitalism", but this seems like a deep "contradiction in Socialism"

What would Eugene Debs have done, had he known, that in the end, he would wind up "just another white" entitled European capitalist imperialist fascist anti-Semite "like all the rest of them" ?

Not sure if racist or stupid.

The black race has been around longer than the white one. Give your head a shake.

And how many Americans would want to pay higher "European prices" for fruit?
Ahhh....and there it is. Selfishness.

Because YOU don't want to pay "European prices" for fruit, you feel entitled to argue against a living wage for people.

What if, and I say this knowing how hard it could hit people.....American sensibilities were completely unjust, entitled and unethical.

What if?

A trip to Africa might be helpful for you to understand black progress.

No, I haven't.

Have you?

I wonder if it's possible that exploitative colonization that denuded Africa of resources has ANY impact at all on anything...or if it's just those "lazy low quality African people" that is the cause of it all.
