  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

No, I haven't.

Have you?

I wonder if it's possible that exploitative colonization that denuded Africa of resources has ANY impact at all on anything...or if it's just those "lazy low quality African people" that is the cause of it all.

Their culture is what holds them back, not a history of colonization. In fact European colonization has helped many peoples advance their standard of living.

A trip to Africa might be helpful for you to understand black progress.

You mean a continent that doesn't have many of the resources for food and agriculture like europe that could afford to devote time to other advances? Remember the biggest part of advancement of societies was agriculture and such, why one of the richest earliest civilizations was egypt.

If your spending all your time on limited resources trying to hunt day to day to survive, doesn't leave a lot of room for advancement.

Kinda comes off again racist if your going to point to Africa as evidence that blacks are slower in progress.

Walking for hours each day for (often polluted) water is a social/cultural thing in many regions of Africa. The thought of constructing clean water facilities never crossed their minds. They took for granted their water-borne illnesses.

Remind me where the technology and resources comes from with many countries that are dirt poor....wow you are sickening, kinda done talking with you if all your going to do is blame people for being poor, though par for the course for the right.

"Uncle Frank, is this a joke?"

Being so poor that you don't have the resources to construct a clean water facility is not """culture""".

Also many of these places are so hard pressed just to survive day to day hardly have time for technology. Got to love the right and, "it's all your fault your poor." sickening.

I'm explaining why they are poor. If they are content with that there is no need for blame. However if they protest their state and it is discovered that they have brought it upon themselves unnecessarily then blame can be imputed. Isn't that reasonable?

Regardless, they really can't afford not to, but they have done it for so long that it is part of their culture.

Remind me how people living in tents and such in the poorest parts of Africa are supposed to know about this technology that probably goes beyond anything they would comprehend? You just keep digging yoursel into a hole.

This is precisely what I've labeled as knowledge blindness...or forget the exact term. Your using knowledge that you have and presume everyone else has the same knowledge, and then blame them for not using it. Again shows the right really doesn't care about people, it's all about feeling superior, oh no it's not that they are poor due to where they live, it's their culture and their lack of caring about themselves that make them poor.

They're poor in part because of capitalism and colonialism, the latter of which you seem to be arguing in favor of. These are not """cultural""".
Ringo

Many are now benefiting from capitalism. India has a thriving small business program built on capitalism, run mainly by women who parlay various skills into salable products. Part of their earnings are dedicated to providing capital for others to start small enterprises.

I think we've strayed from the main topic which is the American black economic condition and it's causes. If we get back to that you'll see that they are not ignorant of the knowledge needed to advance. They just haven't chosen to put it into practice. If they are content with their condition there's no need for further discussion. However if they are not content it is within their power to remedy it very quickly. Just a cursory study of black culture should reveal this to you.

Again your ignoring everything that goes into being poor and blaming it all on them, just like the right. don't fix things blame.

No one's stopping the Left from 'fixing' things. In fact you guys control the Treasury now. Let's open 'er up and fix these problems.
