Us ordinary Americans have ordinary jobs, make ordinary wages, and usually live ordinary lives. Most of us are "blue collar" workers. We aren't obsessed with pronouns, know what men and women are, and think you should judge a person by their own deeds and not those of their ancestors or by the color of their skin. Ordinary American think you should have a say in the education of their children.

Now, which of these does today's Left support?
So I am not an "ordinary American" because I disagree with you on some political issues?
I was born in America, raised in America, married and raised children in America, was educated in America , worked over 40 years in healthcare in America, worshipped in Baptist churches in America. I attended PTA meetings and many school board meetings and had my say, and I do not judge people by the color of their skin. Instead I have been and protested against segregation (from the 60's on).
I am not an "ordinary American? Who are you to imply that because I differ on some political issues, I am not. Sounds ignorant and hateful.

Some (not saying you specifically) on the right seem to have a need to be insulting and use names like "Elitists" What is "elitist"? Educated people? People who care about discrimination? People who believe in the right of ALL citizens to vote? People who care about healthcare for all in need? People who are aware of the rights of other people?

All the bill of rights etc. all uphold the constitution. They are not opposed to it. Though people use those to try.
The Bill of Rights IS a part of the constitution as they are amendments. They don't just "uphold" the constitution.

Wanted to make sure you realized that as it didn't seem that you did. The Declaration of Independence is not the constitution, but the Bill of Rights IS part of the constitution.

Interesting: this is the second time you specifically mentioned "whites" in a disparaging manner.

I'm not being disparaging. I'm simply being technical and accurate.

The Declaration is the founding document of our country. That recognition that our rights come from God sets us apart in principle from other nations.

Yes, it means we’re alone in being founded upon a blatant heresy. I’m still amazed at how many Christians accept that claim unconditionally.

The Bill of Rights is made up of 10 Admendments - that means they make small changes (additions or alterations) in the Constitution. They are part of the constitution. They do not uphold themselves.
nit-picky but just saying..

I agree, the idea of 'rights' being god given seems entirely false to me. Rights don't really exist at all and Christians (especially American Christians) should reconsider their commitment to a rights based regime/order.

I think a lot of discussions could be made easier if we all accepted the fact that divine or natural rights are nonsense, and that any rights we have are those we’ve granted to ourselves.

I am sure some would like to see that. In the past, and even at present want to mess with rights.

What I have read in your replies is not much different than that I heard from segregationists back in the day. They thought they were right, too. I don't think many of them were convinced otherwise.

I ended up convinced it was useless to try to convince them otherwise. I'm at that same point now.

Here's something else you can ignore: Culture has zero to do with the color of one's skin.

If you wish to make pronouns a political issue, that's your choice. If you've never encountered an elitist, you're most fortunate. They are not restricted to politics.

What is "elitist"?
Think Nancy Pelosi lecturing us, while eating gourmet ice cream from a 50,000 freezer. Think CA Gov. Gavin Newsome unmasked at an $850.00 per plate restaurant, after forbidding Californians from dining out. That's just two I can quickly think of.

I don't make pronouns a political issue. The Left is made up of a wide variety of viewpoints. Generalizing and insulting is pathetic.

So you can't define elitist?

So you think it is about money? Does she have a $50,000 freezer? :Lots of people splurge on gourmet ice cream occasionally.

Really? That is all you can say as a definition?

So why does the author of the OP article conflate the wealthy at Davos with somebody making $100k in Manhattan? They’re not remotely the same.

It’s $24k, but she has two of them.

Ms. Ungar-Sargon, from the article: "You’re part of the elites, you’re in the top 20 per cent. You’ve taken a bigger share of the economic pie and, as a result, you believe you deserve a bigger share of the political pie. That’s really what it comes down to."
