• CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. This verse, therefore, refers to unbelievers as they cannot bring forth good fruit...

No that's not so...

Compare with these...

Matthew 7:19
Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.

Mark 4:17
And have no root in themselves, and so endure but for a time: afterward, when affliction or persecution ariseth for the word's sake, immediately they are offended.

Matthew 13:21
Yet hath he not root in himself, but dureth for a while: for when tribulation or persecution ariseth because of the word, by and by he is offended.
Luke 8:13
They on the rock are they, which, when they hear, receive the word with joy; and these have no root, which for a while believe, and in time of temptation fall away.

Once saved always saved would mean that suicides will still get to go to Heaven, and then by that rational, someone who committed murder and then dies shortly after could also still merit Heaven, how does that make sense?

The doctrine of OSAS started in Genesis...

Genesis 2:17
But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.
Genesis 3:3-4
But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die. [4] And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die:

Same lie being told today!

THE PERSEVERANCE OF THE SAINTS

In the preceding articles, the fathers confessed that believers in this life remain weak and prone to falling into sin (Article 2,4,5), but that God holds on to His own irrespective of what sins they fall into (Article 3,6). In Article 7 the fathers underline that it is God who holds on to the saints so that they do not fall away eternally.

ARTICLE 7

GOD WILL AGAIN RENEW HIS ELECT TO REPENTANCE

GOD PRESERVES IN THE SAINTS HIS IMPERISHABLE SEED OF REGENERATION

In Article 6 confession was made of the "God, who is rich in mercy." This God, said that article, "according to the unchangeable purpose of His election, does not completely withdraw His Holy Spirit from His own even in their deplorable fall. Neither does He permit them to ... plunge themselves into eternal ruin." Article 7 draws out why this might be. Saidthe fathers in Article 7, "For in the first place, in their fall, He preserves in them His imperishable seed of regeneration so that it does not perish and is not cast out." The fathers derived the word 'seed' from the following texts in Scripture:

 • 1 John 3:9
"Whoever has been born of God does not sin, for His seed remains in him; and he cannot sin, because he has been born of God."

John does not say here that the believer never falls or never commits sin, but rather that the believer does not fall and remain in his sin forever. The believer does not continue living in sin because God's seed remains in him. The believer is born of God. God has worked in the heart of the believer, put His seed in his heart.

 • 1 Peter 1:22,23
"Since you have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit in sincere love of the brethren, love one another fervently with a pure heart, having been born again, not of corruptible seed but incorruptible, through the word of God which lives and abides for ever."

A corruptible seed is perishable, like the seed of the bean, the potato or wheat. From the planted seed grows a plant, but the seed itself perishes. However, with reference to the believer the apostle writes of a seed which grows into a plant and bears fruit without the seed perishing. This incorruptible seed, the seed of regeneration, being born again, is what God has worked in the believer. This incorruptible seed marks the beginning of a new life. In the event that the believer falls, the believer does not die in his fall, does not perish eternally, because he is born of an imperishable seed. Though the work of the Lord may remain hidden in the life of the believer, God, who has begun His work in the believer, holds on and completes His work. The seed planted by God never perishes.

This is not what the Arminians teach. Said they, "It is not absurd that one, having lost his first regeneration, is again and even often born anew" (Rejection of Errors, No 8 - Error, Book of Praise, p. 574). According to the Arminians the believer, though born again, can fall away from God so totally that the seed of regeneration God worked in his heart perishes. This, they add, can happen repeatedly. For that reason the fathers saw the need for Article 7, pointing out from Scripture that though the believer falls in this life, God's work of rebirth in the believer always remains and so never needs to be repeated.

BY HIS WORD AND SPIRIT GOD RENEWS HIS SAINTS TO REPENTANCE

God does not let the believer who has fallen into sin remain in his sin. In His time, God picks him up and restores him. God's Word remains effective, bearing fruit in the life of the believer so that he is brought back to repentance. This effective work of the Word was evident in David's life. In 2 Samuel 11 Scripture records David's sin of adultery with Bathsheba and the murder of Uriah. In 2 Samuel 12 we read of Nathan being sent to David and of the parable he tells David concerning a poor man who owned only one little lamb, and of a rich man who owned "exceedingly many flocks and herds" but stole and killed the poor man's lamb. In verse 7 we read how God's Word came to David in his specific situation, cutting into David's heart: "You are the man!" God acted upon David at His appointed time. As a result of Nathan's words God brought David to repentance and confession, causing David to say to Nathan, "I have sinned against the LORD" (vs 13). To use the words of the fathers in Article 7, God "through His Word and Spirit ... effectually renewed (David) to repentance."

Lord's Day 33.88-90 explains what repentance is and how the believer demonstrates repentance. "True repentance or conversion of man ... is the dying of the old nature and the coming to life of the new.... (The dying of the old nature) is to grieve with a heartfelt sorrow that we have offended God by our sin, and more and more to hate it and flee from it. (The coming to life of the new nature) is a heartfelt joy in God through Christ, and a love and delight to live according to the will of God in all good works." God's work of renewal to repentance in the heart of believers has this result, say the fathers: "they grieve from the heart with a godly sorrow for the sins they have committed." A godly sorrow on the part of the believer is a keen sense of having hurt God by sin and feeling heartfelt grief on account of this. The following Scripture texts illustrate such godly sorrow in repentant believers:

 • Psalm 51:8,17
"Make me to hear joy and gladness, that the bones which you have broken may rejoice.... The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit, a broken and a contrite heart."

Psalm 51 records David's repentance of his sin with Bathsheba. The psalm makes clear that David's repentance was not just a general confession of sinfulness, but a brokenness on account of hurting God by the adultery and murder he had committed. In speaking of broken bones David does not mean that his bones were physically broken on account of his sin, but that the specific sins he committed against God and his neighbour bothered him to the core of his being. David was not just sorry; he felt broken inside.

 • Matthew 27:74,75
"Then (Peter) began to curse and swear, saying, "I do not know the man!" And immediately a [bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse] crowed. And Peter remembered he word of Jesus who had said to him, "Before the [bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse] crows, you will deny me three times." Then he went out and wept bitterly."

Peter fell into sin, but God preserved him in his fall and brought him to repentance very soon after his fall. As soon as the [bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse] crowed Peter recalled his master's words. His depth of his grief in the face of his sin is pointed up not just by the fact that he "wept", but by the fact that he wept "bitterly". This was not a shallow repentance!

THE SORROW OF THE WORLD PRODUCES DEATH

In 2 Corinthians 7:9,10 we read that on account of a transgression amongst the saints in the Church at Corinth, there were two kinds of sorrow possible: a "godly sorrow", such as that of David and Peter, and a 'sorrow of the world' which produces death. Paul says, "Now I rejoice, not that you were made sorry, but that your sorrow led to repentance. For you were made sorry in a godly manner, that you might suffer loss from us in nothing. For godly sorrow produces repentance to salvation, not to be regretted; but the sorrow of the world produces death."

Scripture texts which illustrate the sorrow of the world:

 • Matthew 27:3
"Then Judas, his betrayer, seeing that he had been condemned, was remorseful and brought back the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and elders, saying, "I have sinned by betraying innocent blood", and they said, "What is that to us? You see to it!" Then he threw down the pieces of sliver in the temple and departed, and went and hanged himself."

Judas' remorse on account of his sin of betrayal and his subsequent suicide provide an example of the sorrow of the world. It was not a repentance in the sense of sorrow that God was hurt and hence not a godly sorrow. If anything, one may rather speak here of self pity.

 • Hebrews 12:16,17
... "lest there be any fornicator or profane person like Esau, who for one morsel of food sold his birthright. For you know that afterwards, when he wanted to inherit the blessing, he was rejected, for he found no place for repentance, though he sought it diligently with tears."

Esau shed tears, but they were not tears of repentance for his repentance was not a sorrow driven by the fact that he had hurt his God. Hence his sorrow led to death.

Another list of verses to disprove eternal security and again a list of verse removed from there context. As again will be shown when these verse are seen context they do not disprove eternal security and in some case have nothing to do with the issue.
Starting with Matthew 7 the verse mentioned is 19 now lets put in the context in which it is found which is chapter 7:15-20
15 " Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves. 16 "You will know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes from thornbushes or figs from thistles? 17 "Even so, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. 18 "A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor [can] a bad tree bear good fruit. 19 "Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. 20 "Therefore by their fruits you will know them.

This passage is clearly talking about false teachers not believers who fall away.

The next verse brought up is Mark 4:17 this is again the parabel of the Sower. To get the context one has to pick up in verse 10 and go to verse 20.
Again notdealing with eternal security but those who have a saidfaith rather than a real faith.
Next comes Matthew 13:21 again the same refernce different gospel the parable of the sower again. For the context look to verses 18-23.
The last reference in the Gospels is Luke 8:13 again the same thing the parable of the sower.

Next lets address the verses from Genesis the verses referenced 2:17 and 3:3-4 What has this to do with the subject? Nothing

Man if you have Scripture to back up your position please bring it out but stop ripping verses out of context that have nothing to do with the discussion at hand all this does isweaken your argument.

In Christ, Tom

Why does the Devil want people to think OSAS?

Matt 24:39 And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.

Rom 1:18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness;

1 Cor. 10:12
Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall.

Someone, I forgot who didn't seem to like the scriptures I gave. But I have nothing better to offer than the word of God.

Heb 4:12 For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

How about the Word of God in its proper context. I have answerwed and shown that you are involved in proof texting taking passages out of there context to try and prove a point that the verse you pick do not speak to. This is dishonest and harmful in that for a new beliver it can cause confusion. When one says the word of God is the final authority one is right but the word must be taken as written not changed to fit our whims. In Christ, Tom

I have just posted a similar topic in General Theology which you may be interested in, one which overlaps with this on Apostasy within the Body and a Great Divide. 'After Protestants split from Rome-The next great divide?'
It raises several of the points made here on a broader level.

Some of you have yet to tell us how Christ Jesus has confirmed the truth to you apart from the sense that your interpretations of the Bible are correct. Isn't the Lord able to correct anyone? Yes indeed! Who is going to be converted from the 'dark side'? Who is right but the one who says with Paul, 'we have the mind of Christ.'?

Don't you get it? The Devil wants us not to believe in OSAS because he wants us to think that our salvation is works-based! That is a concoction straight from the pit of hell. These verses do nothing to prove that OSAS is false at all, if anything they reinforce OSAS. These verses mention nothing of the believer going to hell or anything of the like...so...?

You are preaching that man can lose his salvation because he doesn't bear fruit? But the question is, can anyone who is ingrafted in Christ not bear fruit? Certainly, according to Man, many are meant to be in the vine, so to speak (or branch), but they have no root in the vine.

To the glory of God,

Can a person lose his salvation by continuing in sin?
Q: Can one loose his salvation, knowing full well that one is sinning yet continues to disobey God Word - refer to 1 John 5:16-17.

Q: I John 5:16,17 says, "If any man see his BROTHER sin A SIN WHICH IS NOT UNTO DEATH, he shall ask, and he shall give him life for them that sin not unto death. THERE IS A SIN UNTO DEATH: I do not say that he shall pray for it. All unrighteousness is sin: and there is a sin not unto death."
You will notice that the term "brother" is used, so the context is dealing with a Christian. The point of the passage is "When do you pray for another Christian to be healed, and when do you not pray for his or her healing?"

The answer is given, "If any man see his brother sin A SIN WHICH IS NOT UNTO DEATH, HE SHALL ASK, AND HE SHALL GIVE HIM LIFE for them that sin not unto death."

But there are times when we should not pray for the healing of another Christian. "THERE IS A SIN UNTO DEATH: I DO NOT SAY THAT HE SHALL PRAY FOR IT. All unrighteousness is sin: and there is a sin not unto death." If a fellow Christian commits a sin, and refuses to repent of it, then it would be improper to pray for that brother’s healing.

James 5:13-16 says, "Is any among you afflicted? let him pray. Is any merry? let him sing psalms. IS ANY SICK AMONG YOU? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord: And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; AND IF HE HAVE COMMITTED SINS, THEY SHALL BE FORGIVEN HIM. CONFESS YOUR FAULTS ONE TO ANOTHER, AND PRAY ONE FOR ANOTHER, THAT YE MAY BE HEALED. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much."

The context in the latter half is dealing with a Christian who has sinned, and is sick because of it. That Christian is to admit his or her sin, and ask the elders of the church to come and pray for his or her healing. If the person is willing to repent of the sin and confess it, then the elders can go ahead and pray for God to heal that Christian brother or sister.

The point is that God chastens His children when they sin. Just like with the children of Israel in the Old Testament, God usually SPEAKS FIRST. Psalm 119:9 says, "Wherewithal shall a young man cleanse his way? by taking heed thereto according to THY WORD." Jeremiah 23:29 says, "Is not MY WORD like as a fire? saith the LORD; and like a hammer that breaketh the rock in pieces?" Hebrews 4:12 says, "For THE WORD OF GOD is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart."

When God’s people do not listen to His Word correcting them, then He chastens a little more severely. Hebrews 12:5-13 says, "And ye have forgotten the exhortation which speaketh unto you as unto children, MY SON, DESPISE NOT THOU THE CHASTENING OF THE LORD, nor faint when thou art rebuked of him: FOR WHOM THE LORD LOVETH HE CHASTENETH, AND SCOURGETH EVERY SON WHOM HE RECEIVETH. IF YE ENDURE CHASTENING, GOD DEALETH WITH YOU AS WITH SONS; for what son is he whom the father chasteneth not? BUT IF YE BE WITHOUT CHASTISEMENT, WHEREOF ALL ARE PARTAKERS, THEN ARE YE *******S, AND NOT SONS. Furthermore we have had fathers of our flesh which corrected us, and we gave them reverence: SHALL WE NOT MUCH RATHER BE IN SUBJECTION UNTO THE FATHER OF SPIRITS, AND LIVE? For they verily for a few days chastened us after their own pleasure; but he for our profit, that we might be partakers of his holiness. Now no chastening for the present seemeth to be joyous, but grievous: nevertheless afterward it yieldeth the peaceable fruit of righteousness unto them which are exercised thereby. Wherefore lift up the hands which hang down, and the feeble knees; And MAKE STRAIGHT PATHS FOR YOUR FEET, LEST THAT WHICH IS LAME BE TURNED OUT OF THE WAY; BUT LET IT RATHER BE HEALED." The desired result of chastening is that we would repent and be healed.

It is God’s will that we NOT sin. I John 2:1,2 says, "My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous: And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world."

It is God’s will that we not sin, but when we fail and do sin, then, "We have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous: And he is the propitiation for our sins" A "advocate" is "one who represents us and pleads our case." It is not God’s will for us to sin, but when we do, it is Jesus who is our Representative in heaven. He is the "propitiation" for our sins. That word "propitiation" means "satisfaction." Jesus died on the cross for our sins, and satisfied the debt that we owed. The debt was death. Romans 6:23 says, "For THE WAGES OF SIN IS DEATH; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." Because He is "Jesus Christ the righteous," (He never once sinned), then He could pay the price for our sin by His precious blood, and die in our place. II Corinthians 5:21 says, "For HE HATH MADE HIM TO BE SIN FOR US, who knew no sin; THAT WE MIGHT BE MADE THE RIGHTEOUSNESS OF GOD IN HIM." That is why salvation can never be lost, because our salvation is based upon Jesus’ righteousness — not our own.

What is our will for our own children? That they love and obey us. What happens when they do not? As much as we want them to love and obey us, we know that they are going to fail, at times, because they have a sin nature just like us. There is no such thing as a "perfect" child. Psalm 51:5 says, "Behold, I was shapen in iniquity, and in sin did my mother conceive me." Proverbs 22:15 says, "Foolishness is bound in the heart of a child."

So when your children sin, what do you do? Do you say, "You are no longer a member of our family — get out, and never come back!" Is that what you say? No. A parent will first SPEAK to the disobedient child. If the child does not respond and obey, then the parent will use more severe discipline. Proverbs 22:15 says, "Foolishness is bound in the heart of a child; but the rod of correction shall drive it far from him." Proverbs 13:24 says, "He that spareth his rod hateth his son: but he that loveth him chasteneth him betimes." The word "betimes" means "early." The earlier that a child is disciplined, the less harsh that is has to be.

Even so it is with us. We are all sinners. Romans 3:23 says, "For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God." If we say that we have "arrived," and no longer sin any more, then we are just deceiving ourselves. I John 1:8-10 says, "If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us."

God is willing to restore fellowship, if we are willing to confess that we have done wrong. Making excuses or transferring the blame to someone else is not confession. The word "confession" means "to agree with God, to speak the same thing." If we are truly confessing our sins, then we are agreeing with God that our sin is bad.

The crowd that teaches that salvation can be lost, makes excuses for certain sins. They call most sin, "mistakes," and not really "sin." The reason they do that, is because they teach the false doctrine that if a person sins, then he loses his salvation. They know that they do wrong things every day, but in their thinking, they would then have to get "re-saved" every day. Rather than teach that, they teach that only the "really bad" things are "sin," like murder, adultery, etc. But that contradicts the clear teaching of Scripture in James 2:9,10 says, "But IF YE HAVE RESPECT TO PERSONS, YE COMMIT SIN, and are convinced of the law as transgressors. FOR WHOSOEVER SHALL KEEP THE WHOLE LAW, AND YET OFFEND IN ONE POINT, HE IS GUILTY OF ALL." The Bible shows there that just showing partiality or favoritism to certain people over others is sin.

When a person gets saved, ALL OF HIS OR HER SIN is forgiven by the blood of Jesus Christ. I John 1:7 says, "The blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from ALL sin." His blood does not just save until that person sins again, but it saves that person ETERNALLY. Hebrews 7:25 says, "Wherefore he is able also TO SAVE THEM TO THE UTTERMOST that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them."

So when a Christian sins, God will speak to that one through His Word, the Bible. If the Christian responds and repents, then no further action is needed. The Lord’s Supper is a good example of how the Lord works in the lives of Christians. I Corinthians 11:26-32 says, "For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do show the Lord's death till he come. Wherefore whosoever SHALL EAT this bread, AND DRINK this cup of the Lord, UNWORTHILY, SHALL BE GUILTY of the body and blood of the Lord. But LET A MAN EXAMINE HIMSELF, and so let him eat of that bread, and drink of that cup. For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh damnation to himself, not discerning the Lord's body. FOR THIS CAUSE MANY ARE WEAK AND SICKLY AMONG YOU, AND MANY SLEEP. FOR IF WE WOULD JUDGE OURSELVES, WE SHOULD NOT BE JUDGED. BUT WHEN WE ARE JUDGED, WE ARE CHASTENED OF THE LORD, THAT WE SHOULD NOT BE CONDEMNED WITH THE WORLD."

Before partaking of the Lord’s Supper, we are told that if we eat "unworthily" (which would be eating it without due reverence for the suffering and sacrifice which it symbolizes; or eating it with known sin in our lives from which we stubbornly will not repent), then that would make us guilty and subject to chastisement from the Lord. On the one hand, we would be eating of the elements that show forth Jesus’ suffering and death, as though we really cared and appreciated what He has done for us; but on the other hand, by our continuing in sin, it would be like saying, "Who cares that He suffered and died? I am going to continue in sin." That is the attitude that was common at Corinth, and so God judged them. I Corinthians 11:30 says, "For this cause many are weak and sickly among you, and many sleep." Many were sick, and many had even died because they would not repent of their sin.

God will first speak to us from His Word. If we will not repent, then we may suffer physical consequences. If we will not repent at that, then He may take us home to heaven early, because He can no longer trust us here to live like we should. Please notice that this passage on the Lord’s Supper is VERY CLEAR that the Christian is NEVER placed back in the category with the unsaved, even though he (the Christian) may die because of his sin. "But when we are judged, we are chastened of the Lord, that we should NOT BE CONDEMNED WITH THE WORLD."

I Corinthians 3:11-17 also makes it clear that the Christian can never lose his salvation, but he can certainly lose his heavenly rewards, and suffer physical death because of his lack of repentance of sin. "For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ. Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble; Every man's work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man's work of what sort it is. If any man's work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward.

If any man's work shall be burned, HE SHALL SUFFER LOSS: BUT HE HIMSELF SHALL BE SAVED; YET SO AS BY FIRE. Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you? IF ANY MAN DEFILE THE TEMPLE OF GOD, HIM SHALL GOD DESTROY; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are."

I John 2:15-17 tells us, "Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever." James 1:12-15 says, "Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him. Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man: But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed. Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death."

The Lord promises in Hebrews 13:5, "I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee," and that is true. If we sin, He is not going to turn His back on us and disown us. What He is going to do is come after us with chastening. And if that will not work, then He will take us home early. That can be the result of church discipline, as is seen in I Corinthians 5:3-5, "For I verily, as absent in body, but present in spirit, have judged already, as though I were present, concerning him that hath so done this deed, In the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, when ye are gathered together, and my spirit, with the power of our Lord Jesus Christ, To deliver such an one unto Satan FOR THE DESTRUCTION OF THE FLESH, THAT THE SPIRIT MAY BE SAVED in the day of the Lord Jesus." The spirit of the Christian is saved, but God may allow his flesh to be destroyed because of his sin and lack of repentance.

2 Peter 2:22
But it is happened unto them according to the true proverb, The dog is turned to his own vomit again; and the sow that was washed to her wallowing in the mire.

Luke 8:13
They on the rock are they, which, when they hear, receive the word with joy; and these have no root, which for a while believe, and in time of temptation fall away.

Luke 15:24
For this my son was dead, and is alive again; he was lost, and is found. And they began to be merry.

2Peter 2:22: The dog has turned to his own vomit again and the sow to her wallowing in the mire. the dog was still a dog his nature had not been changed, the sow was a sow her nature had not been changed. This is the picture of nominal christians wo make a profession of faith, but who is not truly saved and changed and soon drops out and goes his own way.

Luke 8:13: The rocky ground in Palestine was where a swallow amount of dirt covered the rocky ground and the plant could not go down and take root. This is a picture of the emotional hearer who makes a decision for Christ based on emotions. He is not under conviction and has not been born again. When pressure comes he falls away. The only one of these hearers who was saved was the one that produced fruit, which is the evidence of salvation.

Luke 15:24: This son had not been saved which is in harmony with the context of the other parables in this passage it is clearly referring to the lost being saved. Not the saved losing their salvation and then bening saved again.

God Bless

Genesis 3:1
Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the Lord God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?

Notice the similarities in the false teachers of today. It is like saying...
"OH, THAT'S NOT WHAT IT MEANS"
Luke 15:24
For this my son was dead, and is alive again; he was lost, and is found. And they began to be merry.

It is clear and no need of explaining, that the son of this man was alive before. He, in other words left home and came back. Now watch as someone tries to explain this simple truth of the word of God.

I get the message anyone who does not agree with you is a heretic. If you read the three scriptures in context you will understand the meaning. There is too much proof texting, taking verses out of context. Harmonize These three references with this:

Joh 10:27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:

Joh 10:28 and I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, and no one shall snatch them out of my hand.

Joh 10:29 My Father, who hath given them unto me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father's hand.

Don't say you can take yourown self out of God's hand, that is contrary to what these verses are saying. I get the impression when you cannot refute one's interpretation of a passage of Scripture, you attack their character, when you do not even know them.
