I'm already embarrassed to the point that I can't even bare to open any social media apps or read news feeds. This hysteria is the most pathetic thing I've seen since the Titanic movie.

However, I will NOT be made to feel guilty or be forced to feel "ashamed of myself" - even our NHS were caught off guard, because they were adamant that they had it sussed. Words of vanity from a couple of weeks ago have no bearing on this current situation. It's what I do NOW moving forwards that bears sole relevance. (I was just thinking out loud back then, as usual.)

I'm optimistic, and will remain so. I'd rather be dead than afraid - and I'd be out there now if being dead was the only risk. But it isn't, and hopefully, in doing what I'm doing I can help kick this thing into touch.

Is this situation still being awfulised by the media? *Shrugs* is it the worst thing in the world to keep clean, avoid unnecessary contact and be extra meticulous? Well, it surely can't hurt for the moment. My worry isn't the direct threat, but the indirect byproducts of this social distancing thing (I'm sick of hearing that term now) - as social creatures, we're REALLY going against the grain there. Even an introvert needs some social stimuli.

I have friends that suffer very badly with depression. And when they go down, they stay down, often for years.

I have never heard a minister speak on the subject of gluttony. Even though it’s mentioned as a primary sin, On the same level as theft or adultery or murder etc.

I have seen very few cases of a person with a normal body weight with complications from coronavirus. Almost everyone that I’ve seen photos of in the hospital were significantly overweight.

It’s interesting the liberal mantra of my body my choice. But it’s not our choice when it comes to whether or not we were a mask or get a vaccine according to the liberal Democrats.

The underlying issue that never gets touched though is the fact that people no longer trust the information I get from the media. This is one of the primary reasons people are not getting vaccinated. They don’t trust information being provided by the media because the media has repeatedly displayed a bias and a penchant for not being forthcoming with the truth.

Well at this stage there’s a lot of people who have already had it and recovered so forcing those people to socially distance is not really important. Secondly large majority of the population over 50% have been vaccinated. If the vaccines work then why do we have to social distance?

Either the vaccines don’t work and we shouldn’t have to get vaccinated and we have to social distance and wear a mask or they do work and we don’t have to wear a mask or practice social distancing. But it’s not both.

It’s not fair that people who have been vaccinated have to be wearing a mask and practice social distancing because a minority of the population doesn’t want to get vaccinated.

Vaccines were originally advertised as preventing serious illness and hospitalization. They do that quite well. It was hoped that it would also reduce transmission. US evidence says vaccines prevent illness and reduce transmission, but with delta, not as consistently as they prevent hospitalization.

It's a probability game. Before delta the reduction in cases was good enough that NJ mostly dropped mask requirements. We were planning not to require them in schools in the fall. Delta has made things worse. But the vaccine is still around 80% effective in getting illness, at least here. Masks aren't perfectly effective either. Indeed they're probably at best 50%, and maybe not that. Put both together with some degree of distancing and they can do a pretty good job limiting the epidemic. No one precaution is good enough. Together they let us live pretty much normally.

I've seen some scientists say that in the long run, the role of vaccines is going to be to turn a serious disease into something like flu. Some people will still die, but we'll live with it, like we live with a bunch of other diseases. But we're not there yet.

One question is how much you tolerate. I'd say at a minimum when it's filling hospitals and causing medical staff to burn out, it's a problem. In the northeast it's not that bad, but we have reasonable vaccination levels and most people are wearing masks indoors. I don't think either of those alone would be enough.

I’m in Los Angeles county and the mask mandate has been almost continuous for over a year and a half even though we have one of the highest vaccination rates in the US. At some point you have to say enough is enough. You can’t continue to punish people who have done as they were requested and I’ve gotten vaccinated by forcing this mass policy which there is a significant amount of debate about whether it really helps.

LA County has one of the longest mask mandates yet we have one of the highest Covid case totals in the US. Obviously it should be one of the lowest if masks work.

They started this mask policy stating that it would be for a few months. Now it looks like it will be more than two years. At some point I think the citizens need to step up and demand different governments. Governors in a recall election as would be expected with this unpopular policy.

Dude, wearing a mask in public is not a punishment. It is a minor inconvenience at worst. Apart from the most extreme cases of folk such as those with some sort of respiratory problem, of course.

There is absolutely no reason to force people who have been vaccinated to wear a mask except for the given reason is they think people who are unvaccinated won’t wear them too. And it’s more than a minor inconvenience. I can’t go anywhere without making sure I have a stack of mask in my car and at my desk so if I forget them I can put one on. I see them litter all over the place on the ground. It’s complete garbage. People who are vaccinated should be able to present a vaccination card and not wear a mask end of discussion.

You do know that a judge in Florida has said basically that your personal choice stops where another person's health begins? Two examples of that are you have the right to drink and get drunk, but it is illegal to drive while drunk. You also have the right to free speech, but it is illegal to yell fire in a crowded theatre if no such fire exists.

Now, this is in regards to mask mandates, but the constitution does not say that your personal rights can infringe on another person's health.

I'd prefer living in a blue state, better than living in Florida where the numbers have increased and there were hundreds of people dying as of late.

It's because unfortunately, even when vaccinated, you still have the chance to contract Covid and spread it to other people. I wear my mask, even though I am fully vaccinated to be sure that I am doing my part to keep others around me safe.
