  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

What a mess...reads like the history of any pagan throne...murder..conspiracy..idolatry...
Problem is these are the elect of God...the children of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob...the people chosen to be the womb of Messiah....it shows us that if we lean to and trust our flesh; then even if we have a greater knowledge of God than any other people...we are as vile and wicked as them.

Rick357

From Jeroboam to King Ahab there was not much interest in God amoung the 10 northern tribe of Isral.

I have heard of Jeroboam and Rehoboam.

And I have heard of Ahab and Jezebel.

But all the kings in between are totally new to me.

This is not a part of the Bible that gets a lot of coverage in Christian Churches.

This maybe because these kings of Israel were all so very very evil.

I have developed a new philosophy studying the book of 1 Kings.

God can forgive the sins that we do against his law.

We may make mistakes regards sex and promiscuity.

But God can forgive us if we repent.

But my new philosophy is that what really annoys God is when we worship other gods.

The first Commandment is that we should worship God.

It is when we worship other gods, and encourage others to worship other gods, then that is when God gets really angry with us.

Tragic, isn't it?

Yes Brinny it is tragic. But it has given me a new philosophy.

What really angers God is when we worship other gods, and also encourage people to worship other gods. This is when God get really angry with us. It goes against the first Commandment.

Being annoyed is when maybe yer kid picks their nose in church or is loud, etc. or when yer swatting away a fly.

Can you think of another word that might catch the intensity of God's reaction to such abominations?

I am the Lord your God...thou shall have no other Gods before me

When you break down the original language and take away the archaic english it can be read
I am the God you will have no other power alongside me....what gives us hope, or joy, or peace, or wealth, or honor, or trust, or love, or life....if he is not above all and the source of all we are in trouble.

ummmm....ain't there a word called "wrath"?

Certainly...when my children do things that I know will destroy them I become so angry and hurt that sometimes I just want to shake it out of them....of course Im only a man and in need of as much longsuffering and forbearance and mercy as them....but still I see in part Gods righteous anger.

God's wrath is not against His children....

is it?

Brinny I have gone back and changed my words to angry.

If we worship other gods, and encourage other to worship other gods, then God will be angry with us, because it breaks the first Commandment.

Up till now I assumed that all sins were equal to God. But now I believe that the first Commandment is the most important.

And especially it we encourage others to worship other gods.

Think of what he told Moses about killing all of Israel and starting a new people from Moses....yet God knows all so maybe that was to teach Moses.
*[[Rom 1:16-19]] KJV*
%v 16% For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.
%v 17% For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.
%v 18% For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness;
%v 19% Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them.

Yet all who have faith in Jesus have peace with God...so we keep our trust in him and trust him to bring us from the trust we have to more trust that his righteousness is revealed in us.
If our trust is in self...ouch

One last thing Gods wrath is not an independant part of him so it is blended with his longsuffering, forbearance, and desire that all men would be saved...if not mankind would have been consumed long ago.

please elaborate brother

God tells Israel he was their husband but by Idolatry they chased other lovers...

*[[Isa 54:5]] KJV* For thy Maker is thine husband; the LORD of hosts is his name; and thy Redeemer the Holy One of Israel; The God of the whole earth shall he be called.

*[[Isa 57:5-9]] KJV*
%v 5% Enflaming yourselves with idols under every green tree, slaying the children in the valleys under the clifts of the rocks?
%v 6% Among the smooth stones of the stream is thy portion; they, they are thy lot: even to them hast thou poured a drink offering, thou hast offered a meat offering. Should I receive comfort in these?
%v 7% Upon a lofty and high mountain hast thou set thy bed: even thither wentest thou up to offer sacrifice.
%v 8% Behind the doors also and the posts hast thou set up thy remembrance: for thou hast discovered thyself to another than me, and art gone up; thou hast enlarged thy bed, and made thee a covenant with them; thou lovedst their bed where thou sawest it.
%v 9% And thou wentest to the king with ointment, and didst increase thy perfumes, and didst send thy messengers far off, and didst debase thyself even unto hell.

*[[Jer 3:6-15]] KJV*
%v 6% The LORD said also unto me in the days of Josiah the king, Hast thou seen that which backsliding Israel hath done? she is gone up upon every high mountain and under every green tree, and there hath played the harlot.
%v 7% And I said after she had done all these things, Turn thou unto me. But she returned not. And her treacherous sister Judah saw it.
%v 8% And I saw, when for all the causes whereby backsliding Israel committed adultery I had put her away, and given her a bill of divorce; yet her treacherous sister Judah feared not, but went and played the harlot also.
%v 9% And it came to pass through the lightness of her whoredom, that she defiled the land, and committed adultery with stones and with stocks.
%v 10% And yet for all this her treacherous sister Judah hath not turned unto me with her whole heart, but feignedly, saith the LORD.
%v 11% And the LORD said unto me, The backsliding Israel hath justified herself more than treacherous Judah.
%v 12% Go and proclaim these words toward the north, and say, Return, thou backsliding Israel, saith the LORD; and I will not cause mine anger to fall upon you: for I am merciful, saith the LORD, and I will not keep anger for ever.
%v 13% Only acknowledge thine iniquity, that thou hast transgressed against the LORD thy God, and hast scattered thy ways to the strangers under every green tree, and ye have not obeyed my voice, saith the LORD.
%v 14% Turn, O backsliding children, saith the LORD; for I am married unto you: and I will take you one of a city, and two of a family, and I will bring you to Zion:
%v 15% And I will give you pastors according to mine heart, which shall feed you with knowledge and understanding.

*[[Jer 3:20-22]] KJV*
%v 20% Surely as a wife treacherously departeth from her husband, so have ye dealt treacherously with me, O house of Israel, saith the LORD.
%v 21% A voice was heard upon the high places, weeping and supplications of the children of Israel: for they have perverted their way, and they have forgotten the LORD their God.
%v 22% Return, ye backsliding children, and I will heal your backslidings. Behold, we come unto thee; for thou art the LORD our God.

*[[Jer 13:27]] KJV* I have seen thine adulteries, and thy neighings, the lewdness of thy whoredom, and thine abominations on the hills in the fields. Woe unto thee, O Jerusalem! wilt thou not be made clean? when shall it once be?

*[[Eze 6:8-10]] KJV*
%v 8% Yet will I leave a remnant, that ye may have some that shall escape the sword among the nations, when ye shall be scattered through the countries.
%v 9% And they that escape of you shall remember me among the nations whither they shall be carried captives, because I am broken with their whorish heart, which hath departed from me, and with their eyes, which go a whoring after their idols: and they shall lothe themselves for the evils which they have committed in all their abominations.
%v 10% And they shall know that I am the LORD, and that I have not said in vain that I would do this evil unto them.

*[[Hos 2:2-8]] KJV*
%v 2% Plead with your mother, plead: for she is not my wife, neither am I her husband: let her therefore put away her whoredoms out of her sight, and her adulteries from between her breasts;
%v 3% Lest I strip her naked, and set her as in the day that she was born, and make her as a wilderness, and set her like a dry land, and slay her with thirst.
%v 4% And I will not have mercy upon her children; for they be the children of whoredoms.
%v 5% For their mother hath played the harlot: she that conceived them hath done shamefully: for she said, I will go after my lovers, that give me my bread and my water, my wool and my flax, mine oil and my drink.
%v 6% Therefore, behold, I will hedge up thy way with thorns, and make a wall, that she shall not find her paths.
%v 7% And she shall follow after her lovers, but she shall not overtake them; and she shall seek them, but shall not find them: then shall she say, I will go and return to my first husband; for then was it better with me than now.
%v 8% For she did not know that I gave her corn, and wine, and oil, and multiplied her silver and gold, which they prepared for Baal.

*[[Hos 3:1-5]] KJV*
%v 1% Then said the LORD unto me, Go yet, love a woman beloved of her friend, yet an adulteress, according to the love of the LORD toward the children of Israel, who look to other gods, and love flagons of wine.
%v 2% So I bought her to me for fifteen pieces of silver, and for an homer of barley, and an half homer of barley:
%v 3% And I said unto her, Thou shalt abide for me many days; thou shalt not play the harlot, and thou shalt not be for another man: so will I also be for thee.
%v 4% For the children of Israel shall abide many days without a king, and without a prince, and without a sacrifice, and without an image, and without an ephod, and without teraphim:
%v 5% Afterward shall the children of Israel return, and seek the LORD their God, and David their king; and shall fear the LORD and his goodness in the latter days.

Sorry This is long but I wanted to show Gods anger without his mercy is not him
In the same way his mercy minus his anger is not him.
Yes idolatry is adultery...the commands that deal with what we should be with God are mirrored by what you should be with the others.

Let's look at the word "treason". This is what happened when there was one that wanted to be as the Most High God. That is treason. That, because of where the treason originated, and the one that committed it had no "tempter", was an abominably unforgiveable act/intention, that there is no remedy for against the wrath of God towards that one that commited such a treason.

It was treacherous. Treason. Incurring the wrath of God.
